I have the Digital side mirriors on my Audi e-tron, at first I wasn't covinced and I know they are optional.. but after 100,000 km driving with them... I've become so use to it and grown to like them. Even when I jump between my BMW iX (with regular mirriors) I have no issue with them. I find them amazing at night, looks futuristic and works so well when it rains.

Often reviewers express disappointment at the lack of a spare wheel in EVs. I’d be interested to know how many people have changed a tyre on an ev. The EVs like Tesla and the KIA weigh over 2 tonnes and essentially to safely change the tyre you need a floor trolley jack (the old school scissor jack that comes with most ICEs can’t lift the vehicle safely, if at all). To carry both jack and spare wheel would equate to at least an additional 100kg. I think a repair kit or run flats is probably a practical short term solution

Saw this at FCL/EE in Sydney the digital side mirrors not sure about and not a fan. Hate to think what the replacement cost is over a traditional mirror. Never mind the optical distnace on your eyes. Would be nice if Kia had it as an option. Will be interesting what Hyundai do with their equivalent of this car, suspect they will offer traditional mirrors with digital as an optional extra. Loved to see your full review of the massage function as well. :)

Great video. Just wondering how do you find the ADAS on this compared to BYD Seal. Surely the car will come with some sort of lane keeping assist and AEBs to meet ANCAP 5 star rating; have you experienced the phantom braking like you did in the Seal?

The ADAS lane keeping assist although annoying is gentler in the Kia than the Seal. The traffic sign / speed limit detection is just as sensitive/annoying 🙄

I really like the car and would like an AWD version to replace my Kia Sorrento GT line and could have even stretched to the $106,000 for the Earth version but when I priced it with no options and no cost paint it finished up $122,000 for the mid spec version because of ‘on road costs’. That’s really too much and my suspicion is that the EV9 is a great car that needs a more reasonable price to sell well.

You do know that digital rearview mirror is a lifesaver if you pack the back seat and or boot up to the roof with luggage or junk. The EV has V2X meaning with the right home charger you can do V2H, V2G and of course V2L and have a huge battery backup of 96kwh would give you like a weeks backup in case of an emergency.

Its funny how Kia in NZ thinks the EV is less reliable than the hybrid as here both the ICE and EV get a 5 year warranty (battery 8 years) vs the hybrid that gets a 7 year warranty! Crazy! Of course just like Australia we have the consumer protection law that states a product must last a reasonable time making 3, 5 or even 7 year warranties pointless as a reasonable time would be 10 years.

Apologies, I was mistaken. The Air and Earth variants use an in-house 8-speaker system which I thought sounded quite good already! Only the GT-Line is equipped with Meridian which sounds very nice 🥂

Hey Tom hasn’t Tesla had side cameras that show next lane when indicating. Surely Kia could have done a better job with the side cameras instead of mirrors. Some markets don’t allow cameras so I think Kia has cheaped out to have 1 Mount for both. Looks an excellent car but $125+k on the road?? Wired connection for phone mirroring? This is a new model & lower model Kia’s have wireless? To make it worse the USB outlets are on the lower dash with no shelf below? Who designed that?

Looks great, I like the digital mirrors and V2L. Does not make sense buying a Toyota Landcruiser anymore when you can get the same size with more technology and comfort in an EV for the same price.

Funny that they are still picking up the 40km on a bus. BMW did a recall back in 2014 as the iasue existed back then. Its since been fixed. So not sure why in a brand new car the issue still exists. Would really like to see a comparison on each vehicle for the autonomous drive.

I'd be happy just to see the features offered. Seems most other manufacturers excluding Tesla are holding back at level 3 or 4 until the laws change. Would be nice to buy a car with at least the knowledge they will enable those features when the times comes.

Make this vehicle make sense. This monster has a GVM of 3.24 tons and tare of 2.64 tons. It can carry just over 600kg of supposedly 7 people and gear. The diesel Sorrento and Carnival can carry 656kg and 794kg, weigh at least half a ton less and have the same towing capacity. DOUBLE the price.

@@Sensei_Sifu That is so much horseshit. This car will be thrown away into landfill once the battery fails, because replacement cost will be way more than the vehicle will be worth. The CO required to make that huge battery by coal fired plants in China. The CO made by the coal fired power stations charging here, because the scale of solar/wind plus battery chargers is not anywhere near viable. The yummo heavy metal cobalt in the NMC battery that will go into landfill because it won't be viable or legal to recycle the battery. I hope things change, but I doubt it highly in the short term. Maybe once solid state becomes mainstream or they all use cheaper and less dangerous LFP cells.
