Sorry for the weird camera movement throughout the video! Not sure what my camera was doing, but I realize it’s distracting.
@ZombieBinary9 сағат бұрын
If you're filming with an iPad, iPhone, or some of the newer (2022+) Macs the camera's have Center Stage, which automatically tracks your face and tries to keep you in frame. You can turn this off. Not sure if that is what what going on here, but just a guess. Edit: This is only on the front facing cameras as far as I'm aware.

I bought it because I'm a gadget geek and wanted something to replace my Oasis. So far, I really enjoy it, especially while reading in bed or laying down. One of my favorite things, is seeing the book cover of my current read in color on the lock screen. It's something about that muted look, I really like. It's also nice when reading books with the occasional color graphic. Fortunately, I haven't had any of the QC issues so many early adopters are experiencing. On the flip side, I will stick with my iPad mini when reading graphic novels or doing immersive reading, because the experience of each is way better on iPad's Kindle app.

I got the colorsoft and returned it and got a Paperwhite instead. The colours were honestly sooo beautiful and it's really worth it if someone wants to buy it. The only issue for me was that the screen is very grey and it's difficult to read without turning up the brightness. Price isn't an issue for me as I love reading - really it's my only hobby and happiness since I was a kid and I'd pay $200 more even for the slightest upgrade.

hopefully mine doesn’t arrive with any issues. I’m happy I finally get to see my covers in color. I am on the no button camp, I like the simple design, just screen. I am used to scroll/tap to move between pages already. I’ll use it to read colored manga, I prefer ereaders over ipads because they have no distractions, it is just for reading 😊

I shelled out for the Colorsoft. I also got the Scribe last year. I had a 6th gen Paperwhite that I gave away prior to getting the Scribe. Missed the smaller form factor of the Paperwhite. The Scribe I use as a daily planner and to read at work.

I sent mine back earlier today. The yellow tint, battery life and grainy screen was a no go for me. I'm gonna get the PW SE Jade Green and a wireless charger and matching case.

I received one with the yellow band at the bottom, my replacement Amazon sent was worse than the original. I returned it. Now I am waiting on a software update or returning the original shortly. I have really enjoyed it, and I do love seeing the book covers in color. But the battery life isn't what it should be. I did order the raspberry signature paperwhite & I love it but I am disappointed in the colorsoft. For the price point I was expecting better.

I have owned several Kindles over the years and this is the only one I've returned. My Colorsoft has a yellow tinge at the bottom of the screen. I have the BOOX Color Go 7 but the Kindle app crashes repeatedly. So I am sticking with the 5-year-old Kindle Oasis, despite the fading battery life. BTW, I left a brief 2-star review mentioning the yellow tinge and Amazon would not post it.
@aleeka996 сағат бұрын
Apparently they’re fixing the yellow bar thing
@gsogymrat4 сағат бұрын
@@aleeka99 Even if Amazon fixes the yellowing and the battery problems, the form factor is inferior compared to the Oasis or Kobo Libre. If the rumor is true that tapping the side of the Colorsoft would turn the page, that would make me reconsider it.
@icipher12Сағат бұрын
@@gsogymrat There is nothing inferior about the form factor. I get it's your preference, but no buttons means better pocketability, weight distribution and fewer points of failure. It's clear that it's just the vocal minority that wants the buttons when both kobo and kindle have their cheapest models without them. Fact is, if the form factor was actually in such high demand then kindle would never discontinue the oasis.

I couldn't wait for a color Kindle, so I had bought a kobo libra? color (the cheapest, smallest one with color) but then was disapointed in getting my Kindle library over to kobo, what a pain... Then I tried a BigMe B751C (I love it) but even then, I don't use any "color" features, lol.... I just read books with it, although I have once or twice used it to read a magazine, that is nice to see in color... I have had MANY different Kindles and tablets including an Ipad Mini, a Scribe, an Oasis, and a top of the line paperwhite (biggest memory avail) but out of everything, the BigMe is #1 for me... Of course, it is all just personal choice...

I returned mine the screen was real low yellow and the yellow line at the bottom I was so excited waited months for a release and I will say I was so disappointed I really hope they fix it the battery wouldn’t bother me as I read at home on my kindle stand and can just charge it got my boox palma for any travelling fits in my pocket 😊 In my mind you may as well tap the screen than the side a ereader with buttons for me is being able to hold it with one hand easily

Have you tried digital magazine reading with the colorsoft yet? I want to get this as my main reader for books, newspapers and magazines.
@BrianHartman12 сағат бұрын
I think price/bang for the buck is a big issue here. Yes, you can tell a slight difference between the screenon the Colorsoft vs. the Kobo Libra Colour, but there's also a 60+ price difference, and given that you can get a pen for the KLC for about $20, that means you get a color, pen-enabled device *with the pen*, for less than the price of the Colorsoft. I suppose if you're married to the Amazon ecosystem, and converting your books to epub is too laborious for you, it would be worth it, but I'm struggling to understand who would buy this if they weren't already deep in Amazon's clutches. I've seen the rumor about tapping the side to go forward and back, and I'm dubious. I don't see what utility that would have, and I would think it would lead to a lot of unintentional page turns. That sounds like a nightmare.
@madmonkey54512 сағат бұрын
KLC also has different modes hidden deep in the settings that will make your display more “vivid” like Kindle. I love my paperwhite signature from 2022 (I bought it then but perhaps it came out in 2021). So I’m keeping my old one and the KLC. I think the Colorsoft is good for regular kindle users who want kindle, but the price for all the potential defects I definitely would not purchase until they say it’s fixed. It’s really overpriced in general but it is what it is! Also, KLC is like a mini scribe for cheaper for less than the price of a colorsoft… I was hoping for a Scribe Color but It’s probably going to be so expensive nevermind LOLL

Couldn’t agree more! And yes, I think tapping the side to advance the page could be a nightmare.
@BrianHartman9 сағат бұрын
@@madmonkey545 Where are those modes hidden? I'd like to make it a bit more vivid, if I can do it without losing too much detail. One of the things I noticed when I saw the KLC compared to the Colorsoft is that the Colorsoft had more saturated colors but it also lacked some detail in those shadows.

I got my Kindle Colorsoft on Monday and I agree with you: it's fun to see the covers of my books in color but an Ipad is much better if you want to read comics and graphic novels. My unit does have the infamous yellow band at the bottom of the screen but it's not that noticeable...it depends on the lighting and the setting. On the plus side this thing is super fait compared to my Oasis 3 from 2020 and even compared to my 2024 matcha Kindle.

Love my signature paper white 12 edition for regular reading.

People forget the first e ink kindles had a darker screen also just like the colour e ink. Yet no one complained, think today people are spoiled and expect to much. The darker screen is not that bad and in the sun is easier on the eye than a pure white screen. Unfortunately a darker screen is a limitation of colour as it has a filter for colour
@calitb10 сағат бұрын
no, you are wrong.. that is completely unreadable. No one could read on the first kindles, and no one can read on this colored one. it is a fact 😂😂😂 joke aside. People love their kobo color, and other readers. People complain only when you add them side by side to non color readers. Since I am not planning on having multiple kindles, I won’t notice this.
