This is absolutely great - actually showing how things are done, and talking about tools used. As someone who's never had a bike (besides a very old moped a long time ago for a while), I have no idea what the practical reality of maintenance is. Looking into trying some riding soon, and having a real life hands-on view into what maintenance routines are actually like is immensely helpful.

Have done about 3 hours on my '23 TPI so it is due for a look over . Love your channel and how clear and precise you are . Keep the content coming. I have 12 weeks in a shoulder sling after breaking every bone in my shoulder , husky kicked me off on the second ride . Using a lot of KZbin data 😅.

I am able to read and clear codes on my 2024 TX300 with the reader from Pinit racing. However, I had to get the ecu updated With the latest map to unlock this ability. Once the update was done I was able to connect to the bike. Cheers

perhaps something worth thinking of is if changing length of torque wrench to measure new length and either + or - it for new standard place on handle/grip position so u always measure as true as possible. if using 90 degree socket "extension" the length will not matter, cus it will be the axle (90degree) that will matter (i think, at least thats what ive been taught).
@TokyoOffroad

No matter where you hold the torque wrench on the handle, it still will still click at the same torque.

Hey, great video. thank you.. Very informative... Questions - stock rear sprocket is a 45, you went with a 50? Pretty big add on. What is your main type of riding? What is your top speed now? I have mine tagged for Dual Sport rides so do some road..I tried a 47 but felt like I was searching gears on tight single track, very similar to my 350 excf.. You still happy with the 50? Thanks very much again for your post and any help..
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 11 ай бұрын
Yes, I'm using 13/50 gearing which feels similar to 12/50 on 2017~2023 EXC/XC-W models. It works well for off-road mountain riding in technical terrain. I don't do much riding on road, so high top speed is not important for me.

Excellent video. What's your warm up procedure on the new 24 TBI? Do you let it idle or do you start gradually riding it after a few min of idle?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 8 ай бұрын
I let the bike warm up to at least about 50C before riding. This helps avoid the risk of fouling the plug and also reduces the risk of cold seizing.

@@TokyoOffroad Thank you! Your vids are amazing. Tech tip, to test your fan, get out your heat gun and point it at the sensor plugged into the radiator, of course not too close but far enough away to where the heat blows towards the sensor. The fan comes on quickly and you don't have to idle and wait for the fan to come on via the engine.

Did you connect your trail tech fan to your battery or into the ECU harness?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Жыл бұрын
Currently my Trail Tech fan is connected directly to the battery. It works OK, but one issue is that when you stop the engine for a break while the engine is hot, the fan continues to run util the temp is below the fan on temp. This is a concern as it could result in the battery going flat in stop/start riding. What I'm planning to do is connect the fan power to the horn power supply (which is monitored by the OCU) and will shut off power a few seconds after the engine stops running. I'm planning to make a video about this topic as it may be of interest to many people who want to use a Trail Tech fan.

Thank you for these videos. I just went for my first ride on my 2024 KTM 300 xcw this weekend. It was my first dirt bike ride in 6 years, did 80 km, I’m still sore 2 days later but it was awesome. As a total dirt bike amateur your videos are going to be priceless for me. My bike is totally stock but I will try to replicate your mods. My question is if the battery is dead is it still possible to bump start the bike or will I need to jumpstart it? Thank you very much.

The new OBD2 code reader from PinIt racing, lets you diagnose and clear engine codes using your phone. It plugs into your bikes diagnostic port and communicates with your phone wirelessly via WiFi. On the TBI bikes, you can only see and clear codes. You CAN NOT see running data, such as RPM Works on 2024 KTM and Husky TBI 250/300 Can work with 2023 TBI bikes only if the ECU has a 2024 base mapping Less

Hi there! Thanks for the confirmation. Good to know. Currently I'm using the TSP ERM which allow you to read and reset codes and also view data including temp, rpm, tps voltage. The main function is to write and adjust maps (fuel, ignition and PV). Great tool to have, especially if you're not happy with the stock map. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooqzg4Rqaa9ngJI

ever herd of piston hitting the crankshaft on these new 300xc-w
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 11 ай бұрын
Yes, I've read rumors of that being the reason for engine failure. Also read that someone thinks it's not the piston hitting the crankshaft, but hitting the conrod. However, the same piston part number has been used since the 2020 KTM 300 TPI model (55630307100). The same crankshaft (55430118100) has been used since 2017 and the same conrod (54830015244) since 2016. So I'm not certain about the rumored cause of the failures as you'd expect to see similar failures on 2020~23 TPI bikes. Maybe there was/is a quality issue affecting some of the pistons produced. Don't know...

Why is all that not done by the factory, just goes to show how bad they are 👎👎👎
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Жыл бұрын
The service needs to be done after the first ride, as discussed during the video, so can't be done at the factory. The main items were transmission oil change and wheel spoke tension check/adjustment. I'd do that on any bike after the first ride, no matter the brand. KTM off-road bikes are incredibly tough, especially considering the light weight and performance. My experience has been that they are very reliable if maintenance is performed.
