It has the same driving dynamics, 2+2 layout, hair raising power delivery, driver focused interior, and is even priced about the same factoring inflation. (50k in mid 90's ~ 105k in '24)

Anyone interested in a LC should look up the Takumi engineering that build these cars, they are built like German cars were built 30 years ago, with passion and integrity. Another stellar review on the amazing LC500, well done, gents! This month marks my fourth year with my 2018 LC500. When I ponder replacing it, I go for a drive and quickly recall just how special it is. Mine is just the touring, but sheesh, what a bargain it was for a mere $62k four years ago. 44k miles, not one CEL, not one issue. 2600-mile yearly road trips to Carweek, 30-33 mpgs out of a 471 hp V8, unheard of! I get more compliments on it than I do my Ferrari. I've come to terms it's a keeper, and I'll just add onto the fleet where I can. I haven't experienced a newer LC500 yet, you've sparked that curiosity now! It's a special car, and Mark's criticisms are in the minds of people who own Porsches. The people who buy this car have owned or currently own other Lexus products, MB SL's etc. This is just what they are looking for - an emotional, beautiful, crafted experience. Things like cowl shake and body rigidity at 8 or 9/10ths - simply are not what this demographic care about, and I think Mark puts too much emphasis on that point as a demerit that somehow is going to shew-away the 100 people who buy these each year for other reasons. A terrific car worthy of our attention.

I actually included this car on my bucket list. I also included a 2017-19 NSX, a McLaren 570 GT, a Lotus Emira, and finally, Toyota GR Supra. Since I already have an MX5 PRHT with manual transmission, I did not need another manual. Corvettes are way too common, so they were not on the list. The winner, due to the car's exclusivity, performance, ease up upgrades, and reliability was the 45th Anniversary Supra in Mikan Blast (orange) color. Its handling is superb and the B58 engine is surprisingly powerful in a 3400 lb car. The icing on the cake is its looks - so much different than anything else.

Yeah but for some people they find that raw speed from a 911 or a Z06 intoxicating and soulful in their own right. The people who just wanna go fast, those cars will make them smile more at least in terms of a new car. I don't give a shit about speed, so for me an ND2 Miata is one of my favorite cars. But I see the appeal of the people who just want a car that goes fast, kind of like what Jack does. Different strokes for different folks.

@@royshavrick, I understand you. I have a Miata ND2 RF and I had the unique opportunity to buy in 2020 a brand new LC500 for 85k instead of the 119k MSRP. Beautiful car, but expensive (not vs. 100k cars or more unreliable competitors) vs. my 30k Miata. Having moved in the mountains I would've have not much use of it, therefore I do not regret that amazing, probably soon to be collectible coupe. But I cannot stop recollecting the exquisite materials, the curves from inside and outside etc. Magic. But I do have lots of fun with my Miata 😎

I’d love to get one of these being the last of the normally aspirated V8’s, such a timeless design. This car reminds me of the first gen NSX in terms of build quality.

Normally the goose or the jack owning a car would be a testament to how good it actually is. But SG had an LC500 for a year or two, didn’t really make content about it during that time, and then got rid of it. That does make it hard for me to believe that it’s the greatest near-attainable thing ever. And I do want to believe. Such lookers, and such a V8, in a car that will drive 40k miles in its life but is built to do ten times that.
@BobsTank7 ай бұрын
I suspect the LC 500 is being sold at break-even or a loss. The attention to detail by the manufacturer is very impressive.
@BarnStangz7 ай бұрын
The V8 alone is worth admission price. Probably one of the best, if not THE best, Japanese V8's. Yamaha helped and it shows. If you get a chance to pick up a Lexus with this 5.0 engine, you won't be disappointed. A car like this, found used, could be a sweet ass deal and hold on to it. Limited numbers, just like the GS F.

i was torn between this and z06 until a miata came across my radar and went for that instead.. was quite the different choice but I love it. once my amg is gone, i'll probably end up getting a v8... hopefully this car is still around as an option because it is simply amazing. i could care less about the badge if a car is reliable and will last if cared for.

new miata has limited slip differential and i hear the electric power steering allows feeling how close to grip limit car is a bit more. yeah z06 square steering wheel is disgusting , its not good for loosing traction in a controlled way , not good for letting the wheel slide into netutral around a turn if your driving slow and lazy, etc. toyota owns lot of mazda so i hoping they put 1.6 liter inline 3 (europe has a even smaller inline 4 engine) with electric assited turbo to make it linear power output per linear input, feeling naturally aspirated as possible with variable exhaust diameter etc. they should probably make it auto dual clutch and have a h pattern clutch pedal manual simulator , like porsche did, because most dont enjoy driving much and drive auto , so they dotn have to develop 2 entirely seperate systems and give option to drove as fast as possible with auto mode to manual drivers. ferrari patent rying to make turbo engien sound better by harmonizing echos or something . imagine new prius or miata with seaglass pearl(2017 one was troqouise blue green in warm sunlight and blue in colder(bluer) lights) with mazdas 3d paint style like in their bright red... i like the quartz crystal color, but i think lexus atomic silver can be good with less of a matte color and more of a variable shinyness like mazdas shapes+3d color. i actually want a trunkless compact 4 seater lower structural height version of prius with 2 liter inline 3 sound, which could be very simialr to 2 seater coupe, that isnt afraid of looking weird with 2 silhouettes for lightwe weight areo.

I picked up an IS 500. I can't get enough of that engine. 3 points, it's the most powerful V8 Toyota makes, it's the second most powerful engine Toyota has ever made, second only to the bespoke v10 in the LFA and... It's Toyota.

I bought this car a week ago based on what everyone had to say on KZbin. And I absolutely agree. This is a gem of the car that I did not even consider for most of my search. I tried so hard to convince myself to love the corvette. But the top of line corvette convertibles pushed past 100. And yet they felt cheap. Maybe a mechanical marvel or whatever, but man did I not enjoy driving it. Even before we decided on the LC500, we had a tough time choosing the corvette over the Z4m40i. I think people who paid 100k for a corvette over this car have lost the plot.

This video was a hoot to watch. I trust Jack's assessment of the convertible's handling; that said, Mark's "wordless responses" (revving the engine up to the nth degree) were priceless. It would be great to see your test of the latest coupe. And, yeah, that engine makes this thing sound like a wild beast. And it looks beautiful.

First gen Mazda RX-7, for me, was the pinnacle of Japanese design, engineering, and packaging of an automobile. While this is pretty and sounds nice I could get a loaded Mustang GT drop-top for 50K less and do 98% of what this can do. And the Coyote V-8 sounds just as good to my ears. It may not be as reliable but anybody buying one of these isn't putting enough miles on it to worry about that.

I really appreciate you guys taking off the reviewer cap off. There are people out there that want the feeling and not just buying a spec sheet. I love the comparison to the Z06/GT4 etc, as buying a car is emotional and we just want to feel good while we are inside, driving the car, instead of know what it can do on a racetrack that I’m never going to take it.
