Excellent review as always Tyler. Ive owned several Audis over the years both in and out of warranty. I am now a Lexus owner and its fair to say I don't think I will be coming back. But It's not simply because Audis generally have horrendous reliability as they age. This is not uncommon with any german luxury brand. I think its more about what you prioritize. As I've gotten older, that has changed for me. I believe Audis are great for people who are into short term ownership, view luxury as the newest looking and/or most aesthetically pleasing features inside and out, and enjoy brand prestige with evolutionary rather than revolutionary styling. Whereas Lexus is more for people who view luxury as having solid features in a car that they will enjoy for many years to come, styling that makes you appreciate emphasis of form over function, and depending on the trim, driving enjoyment. Either way both groups of people win IMO.

Audi is the best German Luxury brand if you just want a good, smooth, sporty car that doesn’t make people assume negative things about you. Sure, it’s more expensive, needs more service and may not last as long as a Toyota (And I’m kinda tired of the “buy a Toyota” people on the internet), but having owned many reliable cars in my lifetime, even new Toyota and Honda products, I always envy my Friends A5. @441meatloaf6 ай бұрын
@jewelnabq01 reliability isn't everything you gotta buy what you prefer. Maintenance cost for all luxury are about the same and if you go to a reputable shop and do regular maintenance, it will just be trouble free as the Lexus. Q5 has far better driving dynamics and handling, much better engine (its literally the same engine as the porsche macan), and is way more agile as a suv. Audi does have a faster smoother transmission, especially if you want a better response on acceleration. It has solid construction on the interior while NX may have some plasticky creek. Audi does have a harsher ride vs NX much softer ride due to sportier driving dynamics. If you are looking for more power, Audi will gladly sell you an SQ5. NX does have a newer infotainment system if you care for it considering q5 is still waiting for next generation platform to come out in 2026? NX doesn't handle that well and drives like a giant brick and if ur going for hybrid it uses a cvt transmission. Depending on region and where you live, cvt aren't that great for torque delivery and will struggle on elevation. Also not all NX engines are turbo charged and you can only get it on 300 or 350. Any other models are strictly naturally aspriated. NX will give you slightly more plush interior such as door, arm rest, while Q5 will give you less of that and trades it for styling. In terms of fuel efficiency - Q5 is better despite both using premium gas (non-hybrid). Q5 does have a plug in version, but IMO its not worth it for the Q5 as Audi puts a premium on the plug in. Its literally the difference betwene do you want a more boring/softer ride of the NX or are you both a practical, but yet looking for at least some excitement in everyday driving? If its the latter then Q5. If you dont care then NX.

The 1st gen NX used the 8AR-FTS, which is the 2.0L turbo engine that was also used in the IS. I still think that the T24A-FTS (2.4L turbo) will be reliable since this isn't their first turbocharged engine, but it's still a brand new engine so it's hard to judge reliability.
