Its a hybrid, so you get all that low end electric torque, and then you got the turbocharged 2.4L 4 cylinder that provides a ton of power at higher revs. So its really quick, 0-60 in around 5.9 seconds its definitely no slouch.

I love how no matter what Lexus does no body likes the grills same with the BMWs 😅. Wish the TX had a refrigerated center consul option like the new GX does . It’s focused on family road trip soccer mom vibes so why not add the drink cooler for rod trip convenience? . I also think it’s lacking some entertainment like rear media screen option like the Grand Cherokee has for the front passenger and rear passenger which is super cool . I get people still have iPads and phones but I think it adds an extra element especially for what this vehicle is focusing on . All around I like it but in my mind it’s still a Highlander with a new badge. . .

For my final comment, I'm curious to know whether you got a chance to drive the PHEV. Lexus won't quote a torque figure, leading me to believe it's considerably lower than the Direct4 (Hybrid Max) powertrain. Boy that thing makes a racket with the hood up! See 6:10 or so. What is making all that noise and why? I've heard it's the high pressure fuel injectors, but is it the *pump* making the noise or what? It vaguely reminds me of the noise a mechanical liter (vs hydraulic) engine makes when the valve lash is out of adjustment (back in the 1970's and 80's.)

Chris, Since they were bringing a TX V6 plug-in Hybrid to market as the top choice, they might just as well have brought a simpler V6 non plug-in Hybrid as the mainstream option. The 2.4 Turbos make little sense to me. 🤨

These things wouldn't fit on you're roads, these full size Crossovers and SUVs are so massive. Some of them are difficult to maneuver on American roads, let alone the bike path sized streets you guys have over in the UK. This TX has 4 wheel steering like you would find on many high end luxury cars, so even though its very long and wide, the 4 wheel steering makes it easier to maneuver around tight spaces.

In your review you completely missed the biggest problem with this "luxury family suv". A family can't even purchase this vehicle with 7 seats in any of the upper trims. A family is forced into 6 seats only with captain chairs. 6 seats in the largest family suv that lexus makes. You can only buy the low trim 350 with a 2nd row bench seat, and even this reviewer said the 350 doesn't drive as nice. What is lexus thinking?? Give families a 7 seater option in all trims!

I watched the CX-90 review via Kirk Kreifels's channel he said the CX-90 had better material and a more solid build interior than the RX 500H he drove before he reviewed the CX-90. He is an everything Japanese car guy I trust his reviews plus he has research to back up his opinions, unlike some other reviewers. Looking at both the RX and TX their interiors look almost identical. Most of the reviews on the TX seem too good to be true you can tell the Toyota/Lexus money took away their free will and replaced it with a script. To end this the CX-90 or the MDX type S is the better car.

Not thrilled with the coarse, grumbly, unhappy sounding 4 cylinder - unavoidable because of it's super long piston stroke. The short stroke 4 cylinders Toyota offered 20-40 years ago were more happy and pleasant sounding.

You buy a German brand for status lol The extra money you spend on the TX vs the Highlander is not just for a fancy badge, reskin of the outside and a nicer interior It goes into NVH, which is noticeable right off the bat and especially noticeable on longer journeys when fatigue starts to set in. Money goes into the seats too, nobody wants lower back pains after long journeys, so Lexus needs to make sure the seats are comfortable on short and long journeys. Then there's the power train development too. While the Grand Highlander is certainly nice, the TX is just on a completely different level and it definitely feels like you're getting your money's worth.
