Just purchased my 2024 CX-5 Carbon Edition non turbo, because I can’t trust myself with too much HP lol. I’m loving the red seats with the grey contrast! I agree Im still struggling with the infotainment system, but I’ll figure it out. I’m happy I joined the Mazda community.

One thing I think wasn't covered is that Mazda has been offering incentives on their models like $750 off a CX-5GT up to $2000 off for the trims above. While the CX-50 is a handsome vehicle the CX-5 would be my choice mainly because of the Japanese build quality, the 40/20/40 split in the backrow, and larger windows for visibility out the sides.
@jeffruebens8355

The CX-5 is more time tested and built in Japan. The CX-50 is built in Alabama, is newer, costs more, and has sportier steering. The CX-30 is built in Mexico, and is cheaper and smaller.
@rivercrossing5152
@rivercrossing5152 5 ай бұрын
Yes, but that plant in Alabama is shared by Toyota. I'm with you, but I don't know how big of a deal it is. I would prefer a Japanese build but I'm not sure it's a deal breaker. The CX-50 is definitely more stylish and a tad more practical for nature lovers...
@scoot333
@scoot333 2 ай бұрын
@@rivercrossing5152 Mazda has acknowledged that the CX-50 is designed to appeal to a specific customer base. However, I don't consider a car with plastic cladding to be more stylish. While the CX-50’s interior may attract nature lovers, it falls short in terms of the driving experience expected during light off-roading or on rough roads. Having driven both SUVs, I found that the CX-5, with its multi-link suspension, offers a noticeably superior driving experience compared to the CX-50's torsion beam. Torsion beams are mechanically inferior to multi-link suspensions, resulting in a less smooth ride and poorer handling. The torsion beam tends to hop and skip over broken pavement and rough roads, which can be unsettling in certain situations ("to each their own i guess").

Do ANY of these offer a manual??
@ScottXiong
@ScottXiong 6 күн бұрын
@@terencemichel8972 Sorry, nope. Manual transmission was never offered in the current, modern styling of the CX-5 in the US, and never offered for the CX-50. The last year a manual transmission was offered by Mazda for the CX-5 was in 2016 for the US, in the old, first-gen styling only, and in 2018 for Canada, in the current, modern styling. I know, because I have a 2018 CX-5 in manual transmission. Super rare.

Both are great SUV's, you can't go wrong with either one. Sometimes when I'm here on Florida's streets I see a vehicle aproaching and I think "there is a Tesla coming over there. Oh no, it's a Mazda!" Really good job done by Mazda designers. And the interiors are even better, you get a lot of car for the money.

Ironically I have both. 2017 Cx5 and 2023 cx50. I prefer the 50 but for trivial reasons. Like the seats, slightly nicer, rear seating and more usable truck space with the way it is designed. I also was always bothered by the cup holder position in the cx5 getting in way of gear shift and smaller center arm rest. But both are wonderful handling cars and enjoyable to drive. Both are turbo models. Reliability is proven on the cx5 and so far so good on the cx50.

I picked up a 2024 cx5 preferred just yesterday with the beautiful red. I agree about the slightly heavy steering wheel feel, but aftett having test driven a 2025 corolla with a very light steering wheel feel, the cx5 was my choice. Really nice interior, seems as upscale as a BMW, especially with that controller, or I Drive as BMW calls it.very good steering and handling. Firm ride which is similar to german cars. More of an empty nester vehicle, not family friendly. Luxurious interior. Guess I'll keep it.

The hybrid Toyota or Honda could be a better choice if they are more approachable. The price for RAV4 hybrid is fine but it requires an at least 18 months of waiting time. And Honda is insane that the hybrid is only equipped on the top two trims in CRV and the minimum price is same as an Audi Q3 baseline. In addition and of course, Honda’s price is non-negotiable, which makes it more expensive than a luxury brand.

These cars are great to drive and we considered both of them for our family car but decided against both of them in favour of a Honda Passport. Problem for me with the Mazda CX-5/50 is the size for taller drivers (I’m 6’2” and the ceiling felt way too close in the driver or front passenger seat) and also a minor gripe with the placement of the cup holders. It’s done differently in both, yet terrible in both IMO. The cup holders in the CX-5 is too far back for average sized drivers like my wife and the CX-50 is too far in front such that when using taller cups, they’re liable to touch the dash. Other than that, both are really wonderful to drive. Best dynamics.

I'm watching a TON of videos- on several vehicles-- and have narrowed my search to the CX-5 or CX-50 and i'm leaning on the CX-50 even though it's more expensive and will cost me a few thousand MORE than even the listed price PLUS add ons.. because i will have to REPLACE the RETARDED 20" wheels which should NEVER be put on ANY vehicle- much less one that goes "off-pavement" to rough roads-- that's JUST STUPID- for any company.. so that will cost me a bunch to change to 17" wheels and thicker tires (more sidewall-- for better ride- longer lasting- ability to air down in bad weather- and less puncture risk and more)..

I've had three Mazdas over the years: original RX-7 in 1978, a 2005 3, and now a 2014 6...all told, a combined 500k miles with only a failed air compressor on the 3 and a sensor or two on the 6...nothing major...very reliable vehicles. Now considering a 2024 CX-50 Meridian, but no matter how many 'reviews' I watch, not a one has mentioned anything about the cylinder activation (base engine made in Mexico) or the start/stop feature (turbo engine made in Japan). I definitely want nothing to do with cylinder deactivation, which leaves the turbo engine. Can the start/stop feature be turned off or fully deactivated? I really want nothing to do with that either from an engine 'wear' standpoint.

My prediction is that Mazda is really going to struggle in the next 5 years! They really went the wrong direction in so many ways and in so many body styles. The cx90 and cx-30 are such losers in their categories, the mazda3 is too small for regular size males, the cx50 is like an elongated cheaper looking CX-5, and the CX-5 is too old in the tooth. The only thing Mazda has going for it is the Miata, and even that is such a niche vehicle... Forget about it... Two dealerships I'll never walk into for a while now: Mercedes and Mazda.

Love my 2024 CX 5. It’s a unique vehicle with a great heritage that may not be in production much longer. I’m thrilled I got one. There’s not a dang thing wrong with the base engine. In fact, for urban use, it has a lot of pop. As far as the ride, if you want cushy-gushy, buy something else. If you want handling and fun, go CX 5. As far as gas mileage, the AWD Honda CRV with the base engine is rated about the same mpg. 27-32. The Mazda is 24-30. I’m getting 27 legitimate combined …20% highway 80% city with only 2000 miles under my belt. So,based on the comparison numbers and my usage, I’m spending about $10-15 / month more on gas than if I drove a CRV. Wow, that’s disgusting.

The 2.5 Turbo is a very solid reliable engine. It has been used in the CX-9 and has proven to be reliable in that vehicle. I own a CX-5 Turbo and absolutely love it. The key with Turbos is to run good quality gas and do regular oil changes(VERY Important in a Turbo engine) Also driving them normal will prolong the life of a Turbo engine. So many people buy a Turbo and drive the hell out of them and wonder why they have problems.

I have a 2021 CX-30 2.5T Premium Plus... with all turbos, I've heard that it's recommended to let the engine idle for 60-90 seconds after spirited driving to give the turbo a chance to cool down before shutting down the engine. I've been doing that with no engine issues so far. Just a suggestion.

Picking up our 2024 CX-50 today. We test drove a RAV4 and the front passenger seat is way too high with no adjustment to lower it. I’ve heard it’s the #1 complaint about them. We went Premium with the moon roof. One thing he forgot to mention is that they come with a Bose sound system. The storage capacity is noticeably bigger with the 50 and the front seats are definitely more roomy. We specifically wanted to stay away from a hybrid motor. It’s his opinion that not having one is a drawback.

RAV4 is reliable car but it is not quiet, lot of wind and road noise. It get costlier if you match cx5 carbon edition features - heated leather seat, moonroof, power lift gate, 19 inch wheels. RAV4 cargo space is good but rear passenger leg room is tight.

I purchased a 2023 CX 50 turbo, and I love it. I chose it over the CX 5 for the higher towing capacity and because I really like the interior and exterior styling over the CX 5. I also love the panoramic roof, which is not available on the CX 5. I have no regrets.

I enjoyed watching your video on the mazda cx5 and cx50 compared the two with the Toyota rav4 natural aspirated engine or the turbo in the mazda which out of the three vehicles you would personally purchase base on reliability driving dynamic and dependability you are the expert looking forward for your respond. stay safe and keep up the good work.
