Just bought my wife the Turbo Premium plus. We didn’t go for the S as we need the 7th seat, but it still feels powerful for a heavy 7 seater. Plus the beautiful Mazda handing and rear wheel biased AWD system, this car could really make family road trips extra fun.

Same here. I love my 2015 6. It still drives fantastic at 170k miles. And i definitely drive it rough and am always rewarded by the experience in return.

Bought one for the wife I’ve driven it a couple times and it’s great …… only complaint honestly is the stiffness of the seats. I have had spinal surgery before so the times I did use it were for quick ride in town or on quicks. But if you let it heat up for 5 min like most vehicles nowadays I have noticed it doesn’t lag as when it’s cold driven. For a Mazda it’s great. I would honestly trade it maybe pushing it for new traverse model or Tahoe but I know for comfort I would be giving up an amazing as heck engine. So far it’s a keeper for us.

I think when you guys test the PHEV your attitude will change as a result of the powertrain change over the inline 6.

The wet clutches are in the transmission so I assume it is transmission oil.

I'm not car savvy at all so sorry for this question.. your video plus other reviewers say the transmission is clunky. Have you reached out to Mazda and ask if this is a fixable issue? Thanks
@clarkkent9080

The CX-90 is unbelievably complex. The transmission has a 3 input clutch that switches between transmission, ICE, and electric motor-generator. The engine shuts down cylinders if the power is not needed and the engine shuts down if you take your foot off the accelerator. There are so many things engaging, disengaging, starting, and stopping that it seems clunky. Way too complex.

@@clarkkent9080 Just saw a review of the tech on this car and they guy was not happy at all about the complexity of this setup and terrible serviceability. I was looking forward to the CX-70, but if it's got the same issues, I will avoid it. I would be more interested in the 70 with the 2.5 ltr turbo 4, but if the tranny is a complex nightmare, I don't want it.

@@xsej4223 Dave will say that the engine was tested x number of hours without fail and all the testing that has been done Blah blah blah. But every manufacturer does that and every manufacturer's first few years of a new design has the most problems. What he can't explain away is Mazda's own repair manual that specifies engine (module) removal to replace certain items. Bottom line is engineering on the CX-90 was for ride quality, handling. and fuel economy. Serviceability was last on the design list. Tell people the truth and let the consumer decide. Why the only people against that idea would be those tryin to hide something.

I like Mazda, but like Subaru they are not a real player in the auto business. They sell very few cars and if they disappeared tomorrow no one would notice, except for the loss of the the Miata. Plus 60k for a tarted up mini-van, with a terrible transmission is just insane.

Why did the engineers think it was smart to put the timing chain at the rear of the motor which requires the engine to be removed.

Please ask Coleman why they did not allow the base turbo models to take advantage of higher octane clean fuels like Shell93 !!! It drives me crazy that such great engine must use 87 and not only can not take advantage of my favorite Shell 93 😉 but also have to run on 87 lacking all of detergents and additives added to 93 mostly for cleaner injectors and those clean injectors are sooo important on skyactiv engines . Why why why .... base engine could make around 300hp and have clean injectors all the time 😉 Also no one have explained how power and torque are calculated in this engine , if electric motor only does fill ins at the few seconds of the start and off gas pedal coasting can Mazda reprogram it so this 100+ lbs of electric torque also be used simultaneously with gas turbo 379lbs of torque for combined 479lbs/ft for much better off the line performance ... ???

87 doesn’t lack detergents. It still has a similar detergent package as the high octane. Octane and detergent package are not the same and don’t rise and fall together.
