It's a toss up between Allt and Gaerea. Bilmuri snuck up near the end of the year the more I listened to it too. Those were the only really GREAT albums I heard this year, everything else was just good-decent or complete shit 😂

Nice list bro, I agree about The Black. Imminence are continuing right where Architects left off with that super emotional metalcore sound. My top 5: Vestigial - Wither (The Dark Pool esque vocals with sci fi djent otherworldy soundscapes) Imminence - The Black Allt - From the New World Erra - Cure Returning We Hear The Larks - Far-Stepper/Of Wide Sea 2024 Remake (this album really blindsided me, it's a combination of thall with Hypno5e if you can imagine that. I've known of this band for a while but this rerelease is just amazing)

I think the Allt take is interesting, because I personally thought the exact opposite. The Orphan Breed was a fucking amazing single but after that the singles became a bit bland for me and after the 3rd single I don't think I even listened to the next one. After the album release, Memory of Light, Ephemeral and Cycles blew my mind and they became some of my favorite songs this year. After listening to the album a bit the singles also started to grow on me and now I think the whole album is amazing, however I still think the non singles (+ The Orphan Breed) are the best songs. Here are my top 3 releases from this year that nobody asked for: 1. Disembodied Tyrant & Synestia - The Poetic Edda. This EP is an absolute masterpiece. My only complaint is that the Lorna Shore -like breakdowns towards the end of every track feel very generic, but if we ignore that I think this is some of the best music ever written. There is some stuff that is as good as this, but nothing better. The Vivaldi elements, composition, vocals and mix are as close to perfect as I can imagine. 2. Allt - From the New World. Great album, nothing really to complain about. 3. Mirar - Mare. Very creative and fresh sounding album in the thall scene. Top 1 disappointment of the year: Erra - Cure. I don't know brother, this one didn't hit for me even though I really liked the last 2 Erra albums.
