Im not bashing in any way because i believe people can shoot what makes them happy. I am just confused about the start of the video you were talking about the big buck you showed and then proceeded to shoot at a small one. Do you guys get more than one buck tag?
@PullStartStablesАй бұрын
Thanks for tuning in! Yes, we are allowed 2 bucks for the time being. I believe next year it may change. In my area, even the smaller one I shot at, is quite large. I saw more big bucks this year (for my area) than ever before. We also lost a neighbor who was a known poacher. Coincidence? It’s hard to say. As for the one I spoke about in the beginning, I never saw it again this year. I have seen quite large ground scrapes and rubs since then, however. Regardless, I’m always glad to bring more meat into the family!

That looked strange like something malfunctioned

I have since shot this numerous times without fail and cleaned it. I so badly would like to take a deer with it this year. Thanks for tuning in!

Was that a patched round ball? Percussion or flint lock? Do you use speed loaders? Was it raining? If you don't put some electrical tape over the end of your rifle moisture will get down your barrel if you are not careful. Lots of questions. Tough break though.

Thanks for your input! It was a sabot slug, in-line muzzleloader and two 50 grain triple seven pellets, loaded that morning just a couple hours before. The gun was sighted in not long ago, cleaned, and shot one round through. Then I was ready for hunting. No rain, but the electric tape is an awesome suggestion, thanks! I have yet to shoot it again, but should soon. Set up my 100 yard target, and spend time getting it shooting well again. At 47 yards, I was steady and felt very confident in my shot placement and everything.

Yup something was wrong about the ignition for sure

Thanks for commenting! I have not shot it again, but it was loaded dry that morning.

I appreciate your input! I see the sparks were flying in a funky spiral, but wasn’t sure of the trajectory. I’m not giving up on this gun though! Season is still young for does, and I did tag out for bucks. 😎

the heck ? you shooting from a bridge or what ?

Haha I have a home built stand about 22’ up in an old hickory or chestnut tree. I’ve harvested a good number of deer from that old wooden structure. Lightening has blowed my ladder apart once, but I build back better.

You didn't have a bullet in the gun. You just had pellets or gun powder in. You could tell cause their were just two smoke pellets that came out. No bullet i guarantee it .

That I have a very hard time believing. Though with my excitement of the day, anything is possible. But, I use pellets, that slide down the barrel. If not for the bullet, they would have slid out. I do recall tamping my rod well that day, to ensure the bullet was fully seated. Either way, the hunt will be a memorable one, though a failure!

@PullStartStables if you look at the vidio the pellets are like smoke balls flying out of the barrel. The reason why I know I've done it myself. It's just a mistake it happens. The way to know is fire your gun with a couple of pellets in it only. Vs with a bullet. The sound coming out of barrel is totally different. And your shot wasn't loud enough to be a bullet in the barrel. What you see is your pellets flying out.... a smoke tracer. It happens to the best of us. Try it and compare the sound on your vidio, it may help to understand what happened better. 👍

I’d be glad to investigate your method. I do appreciate your input, and hope to not sound arrogant or ignorant. Please look forward to another video soon to try to replicate this. If it were simply a mistake on my part, I’d be tickled pink to know it’s not a firearm issue! Thanks again for your time!
