You should do a video about "vehicle reliability" as a topic. I feel like there are a lot of misconceptions out there about why vehicles are unreliable, what ratings like JD Power means etc. It would be nice to have a car channel go over the ins and outs of what makes a vehicle reliable and what doesn't. And I could think of no better channel to do it.

My spouse and I own an F54 and F57. Both are sticks and both are a riot to drive and wonderful to own. They put a smile on my face whenever I look back at them. And the commute is so much more bearable. It makes me wonder why people malign BMW Mini. Sure they changed from the original. But these 3rd gens are gems IMO. BMW sure did a better job than the badge engineering dumpster fire of GM/Saab. The only "downside" is BMW maintenance costs, but DIY solves that. Anyway, as many have said. As the world continues to spit out appliances with no personality, I'll be holding on the one of the last fun cars until someone pulls it from my cold dead hands. Hopefully the 4th gen brings along the same magic. Btw, both have been two of the most reliable and well- made cars we have owned-including Hondas, Toyotas and Mazdas. But you need to look after them with regular and thoughtful maintenance.

I own one as well and it's the antidote to the multitude of NPC SUV/CUVs that take up most of our roadways in 2024. It is legit quick, handles great, very comfortable, has *just* enough room for a family of 4, fits plenty of stuff w/the seats down, unique and has returned 29mpg avg in my 3 years of ownership thus far. I've driven it on 1000mi road trips, backroad runs, grocery getting... it really has no obvious flaws and it's my fav daily driver ever and I've owned a lot of cars. I have an FK8 as well, but it's my track and "special" car which is where it's better suited honestly. I've also owned an MK6 Golf R and I'd take the Mini over that for it's character alone *as a daily*, which is where I think this car shines.

The F series Minis are reliable. The Clubman has been around since 2016 and mechanical wise has been the same. The only changes made are some exterior bits and tech features. Before I took a leap on buying the All4 S model, I did research and browsed thru a lot of forums from Clubman owners stating how reliable their Clubmans have been. Of course you have to be on top of the maintenance since this is a BMW under the skin. Mind you, jumping from a Toyota to the Mini brand is a huge leap of faith. But the test drive alone sealed the deal. Like what Jack said, this car has character and makes you smile. And since this is considered a wagon, it’s a huge plus for me because I’m a hot hatch/wagon sort of person. In the seas of SUVs and CUVs, the Clubman stands out and I know design wise it’s subjective but I find the design of this car really attractive.

You guys gonna review the new C63? It's over 1000lb heavier than this so I'm morbidly curious to see Mark rip into it like he does with Mercedes EQ vehicles

I've always liked the Clubman design with its double rear doors. Not the most practical thing, but it looks cool to me. I test drove a Mini several years ago when I was in the market for a new car, but aside from the fact I didn't love it, it was just kind of pricey compared to some of its competitors, which I was more interested in anyway. Still, I'm glad I got to drive one to check it out.

Fun little cars, drove the first gen supercharged one with a manual. Need more cars like this in the usa market

As someone whose first and second cars have both been Mini Clubmans (a 2008 and a 2017), I'm really sad that 2024 is the end of the Clubman as it's far and away my favorite Mini model. When I have the money, I fully intend to pick up a 2024 Clubman JCW, but unfortunately that's just not in my budget right now even though my 2017 Clubman is paid off.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION: this is NOT an R54! It's an F series car. The R series were smaller, had only 1 door on one side and had the BMW/Peugeot engine. They were smaller too!

Credit to Mini for putting out a fun daily with personality. I would rock this totally and would much rather have this than a bland “sports sedan”.

I just bought a Green, white roof and stripes 2004 R53 with a tan interior. 2400 pounds of supercharged goodness cost me $3000. Put $2000 into it and it’s mint.

I just wanna say, I feel like these 4 door Minis are sacrilegious something about them just looks off, but for some reason, the Countryman (The SUV Mini) looks absolutely fine to me 🤔 But you know whatever sells is good as long as they keep the original one 😂💖

This type of vehicle reminds me of the VW Alltrack. Never understood why the US market hates wagons so much as they tend to keep most of the sporty driving of a sedan with more practicality than most small/medium SUV’s. Would love a gold R wagon or GLI Wagon with the EA888

Going to EVs will probably kill this brand. It will be a superfast pregnant roller skate with a cramped interior and cost 60K. RIP Mini.

MINI still has an entire generation of gas powered JCW’s coming up. They aren’t going fully electric for a while. This is just the end of the clubman. They will still have B48 powered JCW Countryman and 2drs going into the F66 and U25 generation l. Also just fantastic timing on this review, way to wait until there are all of 3 in stock JCW clubman remaining nationwide 🤦♂️

Not to be pedantic, but this is an F54, not an R54. Also, I'm not sure why they say the ICE JCW is dead. It's absolutely not. A fully brand new Countryman JCW has just been released. And the recently-launched brand new (well, VERY heavily revised) F65, F66, and F67 MINI's are on their way now or will be over the rest of this year, all of which are ICE-only for the U.S., and the F66 and F67 will have JCW variants. So in fact, it'll still be quite a few years before MINI is an all-electric brand. Unrelated, I'm really curious re: the comments about the Clubman JCW transmission best being left in automatic mode. The shift paddles are quite responsive, certainly no less so than other good setups like VW's DSG. Sure, the torque converter Aisin isn't quite as crisp or direct feeling as the DSG or even MINI's own DCT found in the current hardtop models and standard in all the upcoming new ICE MINIs, but the shift paddles doing a completely acceptable job of letting you manually control the transmission. Weird.

The biggest thing I took away from the road test section is that it's loud. Tons of impact noise and tons of drone at cruise. I understand it's a JCW "sporty" model, but at the money these command I don't feel it's a particularly necessary compromise. I dunno. I just can't see spending 50 grand on something with the refinement of a 2001 Kia Sephia with an exhaust leak.

When you reviewed the BMW X1, with a dual clutch, you were very critical of the lag. You called it a safety issue. This mini, has a dual clutch but you didn’t mention lag. Just curious,

Wife had a 2017 Mini Cooper and I really loved it. When it had to go into the shop for a faulty seat sensor, they gave us a 2021 Cooper S, and that car tempted me soooo hard to get a Mini too, but having 2 Cooper's would have been ridiculous. So I started watching videos and saw Mark's Miata docu-series and ended up with an ND1. Now that she traded her Mini for a Q5, if I didn't have the Miata I would absolutely go get a Cooper.

PLEASE review the 2021 Mini JCW GP aka Mini GP3. It has the exact same B48 engine as this but the kicker is that it's 2800 pounds and fwd only. It also has the 8speed Aisin with more agressive tuning than the Clubman has. Also the GP3 has a really good boost by gear system so the launches are great for a fwd.

I kept looking at the Countryman AWD but never went for it. Didn't seem reliable enough for the BMW repair prices. But I could see getting a used electric Mini for around town errands if we ever needed a second car again.

I'm a huge Mini fan and supporter but not a fan of Clubman at all. Give me a JCW Countryman over this all day. I absolutely love my 2dr hardtop S but wish I did have a JCW. There are several great British YT comparison videos with this and Countryman vs Golf R and similar and a lot preferred the Mini in a lot of ways. Great review and wish you would get your hands on other JCW variants and give them a go.
