The main gain from this mod is throttle response, which feels much better than the restricted response. You are also forgetting that the DNA Stage 2 airbox completely gets rid of the snorkel and yelds great dyno results. This small HP increase is just a bonus. I also recommend getting your bike tuned if you do this as well! Have a good day❤

Those tubes are the resonators which give riders the induction roar as the silencer does a good job of keeping the bike within the DB limits which is tested at the exhaust outlet the two grilles at the top allow the sound to be focused to the rider, a cheap trick which mini used to make the car sound sporting. The new 2025 model has even more rider focussed sound channels on the tank cover.

AI says: When the intake valve closes, the air in the intake runner forms a high-pressure wave that travels up the runner and bounces back down. If the runner is the right length, the pressure wave returns to the intake valve as it opens for the next cycle. This extra pressure helps cram more air-fuel mix into the cylinder. So you'll probably have higher fuel consumption at worst.

Wonder why the manufactur did not cut that in first place instead of adding more plastic to an airbox. Im just not convinced includong the dyno, maybe the response would be better in mid range but can this also be doing bad somewhere else?

There are no downsides to doing this, I have done it to all my MTs and had great results when putting it on the dyno afterwards, also the instant throttle response difference is also nice!

The thought alone that this mod will increase power without a tune... You are literally making the bike even leaner than before therefor making it run hotter, and just worse in general. Get the ecu tuned.

LOL. The o2 sensor feedback loop constantly tunes the AFR (and no it's not just for idle like it was before the latest euro5 ecu's). That's how it compensates for different ron fuels. So the bike won't lean out from this. But he did just destroy his airbox for no reason other than youtube views.

Watch a few more 2wheel dyno works videos. As much of a tool as that guy is, he does often have snippets of useful information. Basically unless there's a big separation on those 2 dyno charts it's not really an improvement. The tolerances of the dyno or even the warm up of the bike is enough to explain the variation. You just destroyed your airbox for no reason.

What? It's been proven time after time that this is an effective mod you can do. Even if the power gains aren't noticeable, the throttle response definitely is. So no, it wasn't for no reason 😊

I think these snorkels have some function, maby if it is raining, the whater in the airbox go to the ground and not straight to the filter? Sorry mate but for 1 hp thats no option for me.

You'd assume the engineers at Yamaha has a real good reason for it's use. Just removing it would probably result in worse performance and maybe even cost you more in the future.

What your suppose to do is cut the snorkels 2inches. Not take them out. Just had this done on my bike and it makes a little difference.

What exhaust system is that? I don usually like after market exhausts, but that one sounds pretty good. Does it come with an incertable silencer baffle to tone down the loudness?

The manufacturer builds the bike to operate in all weather conditions. Having the air box cover made with out the two snorkels would probably save money for the manufacture. Bottom line is if they are there it has been determined they are needed. The manufacturer of these performance bikes are in competition against multiple other manufacturers and government regulations. They save every ounce of weight, assembly complexity and strive for every single bit of horsepower that they can get reliably. I assure you they don’t leave anything on the table. So modify at your own expense and don’t get on line complaining about having problems with the bike after you decide you’re smarter than the designer.

I definitely won't. I have done it to all my bikes and it works great 😊 If you like to think that way, keep your stock exhaust on for max gains 💪🏻

@@INFAMAS I on occasion go on fairly long trips and weather is never given a guarantee. Close riding buddies do a lot of modifications, both little and big ones. Most have not caused a problem, some little problems and then there have been some very serious problems on a few of them. Engine loss on three, the bike burned up on one. Now I have a very very good friend that is like a brother. He does dyno work and development on sport bikes for professional racing for 12 years now. Major high end company I should not mention for a bunch of reasons. Long story short most mods for street use make little to no gains unless noise is your intention. Actually some of these mods cost you power. Some will add power but it is usually in the last 2000 to 3000 rpm where you seldom go. It is generally 3 to 5 hp, which on a fire breather 750 cc or larger displacement motorcycle you won’t notice. However you will miss the 3 to 5 hp down mid range and lower area where you spend 90 percent of the time. I have seen the dyno runs several hundred bikes
