Yamaha really hit it out of the park with this bike. My 2021sp with an aftermarket full system weighs 409 lbs on the scale with a full fuel tank and I average 55 miles per u.s. gallon. One of the guys on the fz09 forum has over 220,000 miles on his 1st gen with routine maintenance..brakes, chains, valve clearance checks, wheel bearings when needed etc. I'm 70 yrs old, been on the road for 54 years and of all the bikes I have owned this one really is exceptional...all the performance I could ever need along with being very light and nimble

@@astifcaulkinyeras Today's romp was 155 miles in the county ridden like a senior delinquent..lots of heavy throttle and my average for the ride was a bit over 52mpg...it was 4.5 litres per 100 km to be exact. If I am easy on the throttle I get 4.0 litres or under per 100 kilometres, which works out to at least 58mpg. I have no idea what I get in stop and go/city riding because I seldom ride in the city...too many idiots. If most of your riding is in the city I am not surprised by your mpg's.

In my country Colombia, the MT-09 is the highest-selling high cc motorcycle, they have sold around 4.000 units since launch (a lot for our economy) you see them everywhere, great motorcycle with plenty of power and awesome sound, they usually give them full systems here.

Just picked up a 22' standard version and I'm loving it. It really seems to me like a modern version of my first bike which was the 85' Maxim 700x (XJ700X). Super sporty power, ergonomics that aren't too aggressive or too relaxed and you can just ride it all day and have a smile on your face. This bike just has the added bonus of insane torque everywhere you could want it. I'm in love.

I had a riding buddy talk me into the 23 mt-09, I currently own a 95 vfr 750 and don't know much about rider ergonomics when it comes to the street, but I got the luxury of taking it for a test ride. I've been sold on the idea ever since, the triple, the sound, the comfort. It's a perfect country roads bike iykyk.

I wasn't even considering the MT-09 until I saw it in person and couple days ago and realized it looks incredible in person and offers everything im after even cruise control and the price is reasonable. I was actually debating alot of different bikes from adventure to nakeds feom 500cc to 900 cc. But the MT-09 wasn't even on my radar. Man I want this bike now. All I need is some heated grips, windscreen, tail delete, sliders and maybe an exhaust if I can get one that is only mildly louder but sounds better. Also a quick detachable side bag setup for longer trips. Im done! I really loved the Yamaha blue version on the 2024 too. Wow this bike is a looker and seeing it on video or in pictures doesn't do it justice. It stood out in a showroom of some really great bikes. I wanna pick it up now but it's now winter and in 30s and 40s F already so I gotta wait out this winter than go get it. I'm trading in my Harley I told myself I would never get rid of towards it. I can't maintain 2 bikes nor do I got the space in my shed for 2 unfortunately. MT-09 is gonna be my hooligan and light sport tourer bike. Thinking about this bike is gonna get me through the winter. Can't wait to have it! BTW I hear the base model has great fully adjustable suspension so I don't see the need to pay 2k more for the Ohlins upgrade although it is worth it im sure. But $10.5k is way more appealing to me and basically the top of my budget anyway.

I used to want to ride full fairing super sports all the time, but I'm only 33 and began to see the appeal of the MT platform and how it has a great balance of comfort and agility. And 890cc is plenty of motor for me to blink and look down and realize I'm doing 100 in the corp limits lol *oopsie* I don't have a single shred of buyers remorse 🤙🤘

This is a great, fun bike. I haven't ridden the SP, but have ridden the MT-09. You need to lean forward to get a little more weight on the front tire, when carving turns and the wind is BRUTAL at anything 75 and over, but its super fun to ride. At 120 hp and 420 lbs, its a little over 3 lbs per hp which is plenty. Also, the quick shifter may be the best of any bike I have ridden.

Everyone says they wanted a ZO6 corvett back in the C5 era, then complained about going over a crack in the road and how it hurt their back LOL and just drove it to the grocery store or work. Same thing, people want the race car, but most don’t actually want to drive/ride it daily. (I say this as a guy that drove a project car for like 18 years with no A/C in Georgia… I’m an odd ball, but even I don’t want a super sport bike, naked’s are where it’s at. 90% of the track performance but waaay more practical in the street.

I am just starting out to ride. As per european laws I am currently learning in school riding a sv650. I am still undecided on what to get as my first own bike. It has to be a2 complient. However I am very much out to buy something with a larger displacement and then dial it down to 48hp. I am thinking about getting an mt09, since it makes a very compelling argument as an overall package. On the other hand I also thought about going for the rs660 since I often feel like leaning forward into a more aggressive posture and being more of a squid. I would also have to try out how it feels to sit on since the sv650 feels kinda small with my 6'3'' hight and 34" inseam, and therefore there might be a problem there anyway. I was wondering what your guys' thoughts are on these rather unusual choices

I bought an MT09 SP 2023 (immaculate condition with low mileage, used from a dealer here in the UK at £3.5K less than original list price) just before you published your first ride review and I agree 100% with you. The bike is perfect as stock, there’s really no need to change a thing.

Post the Suspension adjustment video Yam! Love my 22sp( just hit 13000 miles) and for everyday riding( fast slow and everything in between) prefer it over my 22 street triple RS which is only more rewarding when I flog it at really fast 💨 pace -then it’s motor, stiffer suspension, chassis are magic 🪄 🤓😎

I have a 3rd gen mt09 and the only thing i can complain is because of the rider triangle the front seems very light and lacks feeling when pushing it hard on the street. If anyone has a suggestion for that i would appreciate. ( I've only used S22 and S23 tires on it)

Personal opinion, dont like the aesthetics of the gen 1 and gen 3 MT-09 and prefer the aesthetics of the gen 2 and 4. The gen 4 looks best to me. That being said I haven’t had the opportunity to take one for a spin so I cant speak on how they ride but from what I’ve heard (mainly from KZbin) is the gen 4 is the most well put together version (as it should be because thats how evolution works)

hey mr noob, you're a light dude so I imagine you have the same problem (more so) than me. I'm 80kg without gear and I've run out of rebound damping on the rear. Only 8000 miles. The rear tire tells me I still need more rebound damping. I'm in a couple of forums for mt 09 sp (gen 3) and see the same thing every time someone posts a photo of their rear tire. Do you know if their is a modification / fix for this? Heavier oil etc?

I have a question that it's on my mind. Is the XSR 900 based on the MT09 or the MT09 SP (talking about the 2023-2024)? I can not remember which one is it and i can't tell the difference by looking at it on Yamaha dealers websites/showrooms

I ride a CB500X everywhere (not track) and spend most of my time with my ass on the pillion part of the seat (which is a single smooth shape, similar to the MT-09 Gen3). This raises my position relative to the pegs and handlebars. I was thinking that with adjustable pegs I could do the same with the Gen3, which has a very smooth seat. What do you think? I like getting into the tuck and if I could have two bikes I would have an upright for street and a sportbike like a CB1000RR for track and spirited out of city rides. Would the Gen3 with upgraded suspension satisfy this sporty bias?

I can buy a used 2021 Gen3 non-SP for about $12K vs $17 for the MY24 non-SP ($20K for MY24 SP). My thinking is to spend $3K to upgrade the suspension on the Gen3 (Matris F20K level products). If I bought the MT it will be tracked, for sure. I want the torque of a litre bike so the Street Triple is not quite there. Other candidates are CB1000R and Speed Triple MY16+. It is hot where I am during summer so maybe the Speed Triple is too hot. Leaning forward isn't a problem for me so getting into the tuck is where I like to be when cornering. It is difficult to test ride where I am unfortunately so getting some directions is a good start.

I just got my 4th gen base mode mt09 and l its 90 percent the same as the 3rd gen but i would 100% would not buy a 3rd gen in 2024 unless your getting a good deal case even though it's just 10% difference that 10% is worth it
