Yamaha really hit it out of the park with this bike. My 2021sp with an aftermarket full system weighs 409 lbs on the scale with a full fuel tank and I average 55 miles per u.s. gallon. One of the guys on the fz09 forum has over 220,000 miles on his 1st gen with routine maintenance..brakes, chains, valve clearance checks, wheel bearings when needed etc. I'm 70 yrs old, been on the road for 54 years and of all the bikes I have owned this one really is exceptional...all the performance I could ever need along with being very light and nimble

In my country Colombia, the MT-09 is the highest-selling high cc motorcycle, they have sold around 4.000 units since launch (a lot for our economy) you see them everywhere, great motorcycle with plenty of power and awesome sound, they usually give them full systems here.

Just picked up a 22' standard version and I'm loving it. It really seems to me like a modern version of my first bike which was the 85' Maxim 700x (XJ700X). Super sporty power, ergonomics that aren't too aggressive or too relaxed and you can just ride it all day and have a smile on your face. This bike just has the added bonus of insane torque everywhere you could want it. I'm in love.

I wasn't even considering the MT-09 until I saw it in person and couple days ago and realized it looks incredible in person and offers everything im after even cruise control and the price is reasonable. I was actually debating alot of different bikes from adventure to nakeds feom 500cc to 900 cc. But the MT-09 wasn't even on my radar. Man I want this bike now. All I need is some heated grips, windscreen, tail delete, sliders and maybe an exhaust if I can get one that is only mildly louder but sounds better. Also a quick detachable side bag setup for longer trips. Im done! I really loved the Yamaha blue version on the 2024 too. Wow this bike is a looker and seeing it on video or in pictures doesn't do it justice. It stood out in a showroom of some really great bikes. I wanna pick it up now but it's now winter and in 30s and 40s F already so I gotta wait out this winter than go get it. I'm trading in my Harley I told myself I would never get rid of towards it. I can't maintain 2 bikes nor do I got the space in my shed for 2 unfortunately. MT-09 is gonna be my hooligan and light sport tourer bike. Thinking about this bike is gonna get me through the winter. Can't wait to have it! BTW I hear the base model has great fully adjustable suspension so I don't see the need to pay 2k more for the Ohlins upgrade although it is worth it im sure. But $10.5k is way more appealing to me and basically the top of my budget anyway.

However I am very much out to buy something with a larger displacement and then dial it down to 48hp. I am thinking about getting an mt09, since it makes a very compelling argument as an overall package. On the other hand I also thought about going for the rs660 since I often feel like leaning forward into a more aggressive posture and being more of a squid. I would also have to try out how it feels to sit on since the sv650 feels kinda small with my 6'3'' hight and 34" inseam, and therefore there might be a problem there anyway. I was wondering what your guys' thoughts are on these rather unusual choices

I ride a CB500X everywhere (not track) and spend most of my time with my ass on the pillion part of the seat (which is a single smooth shape, similar to the MT-09 Gen3). This raises my position relative to the pegs and handlebars. I was thinking that with adjustable pegs I could do the same with the Gen3, which has a very smooth seat. What do you think? I like getting into the tuck and if I could have two bikes I would have an upright for street and a sportbike like a CB1000RR for track and spirited out of city rides. Would the Gen3 with upgraded suspension satisfy this sporty bias?
@gxtoast22212 ай бұрын
I can buy a used 2021 Gen3 non-SP for about $12K vs $17 for the MY24 non-SP ($20K for MY24 SP). My thinking is to spend $3K to upgrade the suspension on the Gen3 (Matris F20K level products). If I bought the MT it will be tracked, for sure. I want the torque of a litre bike so the Street Triple is not quite there. Other candidates are CB1000R and Speed Triple MY16+. It is hot where I am during summer so maybe the Speed Triple is too hot. Leaning forward isn't a problem for me so getting into the tuck is where I like to be when cornering. It is difficult to test ride where I am unfortunately so getting some directions is a good start.

I just got my 4th gen base mode mt09 and l its 90 percent the same as the 3rd gen but i would 100% would not buy a 3rd gen in 2024 unless your getting a good deal case even though it's just 10% difference that 10% is worth it

I’m curious how yammie loved the mt09 but didn’t enjoy the tracer 9 which basically is the same bike with fairing and a more upright seating position

It’s much heavier than the MT & suspension is 💩

Had a '22 base model and wanted for nothing. Soon as I can I'm replacing it with another.

I just rode 320 miles in one day on my XSR900, on mostly highway on average of 70mph minimum. The ride was fun, except the return potion, the knees started to hurt and ass needed replacement at the end.

you forgot to mention of all the things it has, the top screen from a Nintendo DS as a dash.
@SubZeroXJ3 ай бұрын
I think the DS display might be BETTER than the MT09
@johanf85223 ай бұрын
Yes, and don't forget the fact that the screen gets scratches by just looking at it 😶

I like that the screen is so small. It leaves more space for me to see the road. Would be nice to have the different screen colors/themes from the '24 though.

So I’m currently looking at a 23’ MT-09. Out the door of the dealer for $10,800 Scam? Or should I request a SP?
