I finally got to ride a 2023 MT-09 SP model and it was super fun. I loved how smooth the quick shifter was and the new one on the 2024 is even smoother and more versatile. I also rode a 2023 765 Street Triple -- didn't like the clunky quick shifter on it -- but everything else on it was amazing. It would be tough to decide between these two bikes. I really like the 2024 MT-09 SP; it's even better looking in person.

Is it smooth up and down? Looking at this bike or a KTM 990 as the 1390 seems like it hates around town driving unlike these two.
@lateralus92442 ай бұрын
@@michaelfrock2473 Well, the 2023 I rode was very smooth up and down in most situations. I think that quick shifters though tend to work better when the rpms are in the roughly mid - higher rev ranges. But like I said, the new MT-09 is reported to have an even better more versatile quick shifter. I would stay away from the KTM in either displacement size as the Japanese make more reliable motorcycles and plus, you can't beat the sound of a triple, particularly the sound of an MT-09. The Triumph Street Triple sounds phenomenal as well. Good luck! 👍 Currently, I can only afford to test ride. 😕

@@michaelfrock2473 Try to find a dealer that either doesn't have a bullcrap ADM fee or is willing to greatly reduced it. That's the fee that they added during the Covid crisis and most have not removed it yet. Many Triumph dealers don't try to screw over their customers like that and in some cases, to move previous year models -- which should be coming up soon -- they'll greatly reduce even the MSR price on certain models. The Yamaha still has a better reliability record though.

Love the bike, looks great in SP colours. 1 question: The track modes just look like they do the same thing as Custom 1 & 2 on my standard 2024 MT 09. Is there anything extra you can set in them or are they just 4 more custom settings? Thanks

I wonder if Yamaha (or somebody else aftermarket) would let you spec a traditional key ignition on the sp rather than the keyless. Awesome bike, but for some reason I’m not all for the keyless system… There’s an override function on it too in case you lose your fob. If I remember correctly, you need to enter a code using the ‘knob’ as the input key. They’re offering a couple of different Akrapovic exhausts in the uk as spec options. I’d love to hear how each exhaust sounds back to back 🤘🏻

The key fob works great! And the security code is different for each person :)

@@INFAMAS Thanks for the reply 🙂 Just me being old fashioned I guess. I’m sure it does work great. Makes sense with the keycode being different for each bike. Kind of obvious when I think about it. HaHa! Stay safe man… looking forward to more updates 👍🏻

Next month im getting my full bike licence (european things, i am currently limited to 48hp max bikes) and i am thinking of buying a mt09 but can't really afford a 2024 model, so I was thinking what should I do. Can't decide between gen 2 and gen 3. You had the gen 2, I don't know if you had the gen 3 but is it worth it? Overall I prefer the gen 3 but I dont know if its worth the money. Here in Spain gens 2 usually cost 7k€ and its sp model 8k. Gens 3 cost 8k€ and its sp model 10k... I dont really wanna spend more than 8k so my question is, do i go for a gen 2 sp or a base gen 3?
@DaGaRex2 ай бұрын
Im also considering getting a 05'ish gsxr 600 for 4k€ but I kinda think the mt09 is going to be way better because it's powerful midrange? idk how to explain it
@INFAMAS2 ай бұрын
I'd say base model gen 3 dude! Still get way more electronics!
@MrBCRC2 ай бұрын
Gen3 should be your goal especially if it's going to be your first full power bike. The base model has all the TCS modes tied to the 6 axis imu that the Gen2 doesn't have.
@davidgray88632 ай бұрын
what you have to remember is that you stated the cost of those parts, brakes, forks, suspension but.. you should have stated the DIFFERENCE in price because if the stock brakes are $800 and the Brembo's are $1250 it's only $450 not a $1250 upgrade (also those are retail prices and Yamaha are not paying those prices)... the average biiker is not going to the track... (or even tinkering with suspension settings) things like that track settings should be optional extras instead of something everyone has to pay... in all honesty, a better rear shock on the base MT09 and I doubt 99% of riders would be hard pressed to think there was any real difference in the ride to justify the price difference.
@INFAMAS2 ай бұрын
You shouldnt compare the difference, you should compare the full price. Because that's what you'll be paying if you buy the base model and wanted to upgrade the brakes or suspension, you wouldn't be paying the difference. But you are right, in the end it comes down to preference!
@davidgray88632 ай бұрын
@@INFAMAS Not really.... Because you are talking buying parts in addition to stock. So when we talk about difference in price... if you are talking after market sales you'd have to take into account the price you'd sell your base model parts and subtract that.. it gets complicated and it's like comparing oranges to apples. Real world riding, I've ridden both (gen 3 models) and the base model had a non stock rear shock... and if I had not been able to see the livery I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart. I'm an average rider who has spent more time on one wheel than scraping my knee pads so both models are more than what I require, the base model and new shock would be enough, but if I was going to buy one, I would buy the sp but only for the looks... also here in Britain, the difference is about $2200 between base and SP
