Ok HOLD up. Time to answer some questions. Firstly, HOW/WHOS tune is being used with the ODIN? Whipple's tune? Stock tune?? There is no other tuning solution for the 24, so the ODIN is gimped by a whipple tune... Geee no wonder the whipple won. Also did you see all the knock it was picking up when you ran the ODIN? That car was chuffing out the back like a steam train... What a loaded test man. You 100% would be able to match or beat the whipple if you were able to tune the ODIN correctly. Boost pressure is boost pressure.... The displacement shows up with pulley combo... 3.5 vs 3.875 pulley. Basically saying the 2.65 spins faster than the 3.0 to produce 12 psi of boost. That Whipple made more power on the same amount of boost. Everywhere at that. Good data for sure!
@chuckharter59543 ай бұрын
What would change in the tune? How does the engine know what is making 12 psi?
@jakenorris56653 ай бұрын
Displacement of the rotor set doesn’t matter when the size and parasitic loss is roughly the same. Also the “tune” wouldn’t be any different for a TVS application…
@bootlegger23893 ай бұрын
So a bigger supercharger makes more power at the same boost level as a smaller supercharger.... makes sense.
@johnnyjackson17833 ай бұрын
Nah, marketing shadiness is going on in this test. That twin 69 throttle body was a major choke point for the Odin.
@bootlegger23893 ай бұрын
@johnnyjackson1783 100% that TB is a choke point. I bet the Roush setup shows out.
@JeeshGaming3 ай бұрын
It does make sense lol. Bigger blower moves more cfm. Still moves more air even though they’re both at 12psi of boost. Those new whipples are kick ass units, especially with how efficient the intercoolers are now.
@johnnyjackson17833 ай бұрын
@@JeeshGaming The Whipple doesn’t move more air at the same boost. It’s a physical impossibility. If the same exact engine was being force fed with more air it would show a corresponding increase in boost pressure since the engine’s flow rate didn’t change. Don’t confuse blower displacement with “more air”. Yes, the larger blower displaces more air per revolution (positive displacement) but that doesn’t mean it is forcing more air to the intake ports at the same boost level. There are both rotor speeds and inlet flow to consider. If these engines are seeing the same boost pressure but different power outputs the only thing that would cause them to make different power is (assuming all other factors have been honestly equalized) mechanical efficiency of the supercharger itself or an airflow restriction in one of them. Twin screws are historically not mechanically more efficient than TVSs. The Odin was absolutely choked by that twin 69 TB and likely didn’t have a very dialed in tune.
@southfloridanick3 ай бұрын
That’s absolutely NOT why the Whipple won the comparison. It’s about the efficiency of the Whipple - it takes LESS power to make the same boost. Remember, PD superchargers take a lot of power to turn (parasitic loss). It’s also the efficiency of the design, which equates to lower air temps. Twin screws are MORE efficient than TVS rotors. The TVS is simply a fan and the compression of air occurs by the fans cramming it into the post rotor space…. The twin screw actually compresses air between the rotors. Eaton (they make the TVS rotors) tried for awhile to make a 3.0L rotor pack, but it proved to be far less efficient and produced LESS power at the same boost, Justin referenced this in the video.
@boogiedownbully64933 ай бұрын
Ahhh who would’ve thought a bigger displacement SC making more HP and your tune is set specifically to the Whipple blower and gen 4 motor. Also curious how much R&D went into optimizing the tune of VMP blower for the Gen 4 motor. This is NOT an apples to apples comparison. Love you guys and your products but ya’ll getting your Spin Doctor on with this one.
@na4valve3 ай бұрын
I have no doubt the 3.0 makes more power with everything equal but why neuter the 2.65 with a twin 69 and not use the 163R? I would guess the same pulley would make another 20-30 whp with the big mono. Yes it may see a little more boost but it would still make more power even with a 3.6 pulley on the 2.65.
