I saw 1 on the road yesterday in red. I couldn't help but think the Frontier is the best choice out of ALL midsized trucks right now. I really hope Nissan does not go down the path of forced induction. I’ve owned many Toyotas over the years and still have an 06 Sequoia. I daily drive a 2013 Infiniti M37s. Nissan/Infiniti makes a reliable product. I would never buy an expensive, over engineered, hard to maintain, forced induction engine.

I own a 2023 RAM 1500 classic warlock quad cab with the 3.6 thats in the body shop due to being rearended, Enterprise gave a a 2023 Frontier SV 2WD. Yes that 3.8 has plenty of pickup, probably faster than my 3.6 and i see the 4WD has more towing, i am used to the heavy steering as i have had it about 2 weeks so far.

That sucks getting hit like that. Hopefully you didn't suffer any injuries from it. Yeah they tend to run mid to low 7s to 60mph from what I've seen. Feels as quick as the 2014 grand cherokee I had with the 3.6....that I've clocked 7.2 on 87 and 6.9 on E85

@@ThorGPA I didnt realize the redline was 7 grand, i just happened to see it, my 3.6 is 6500. I think that 3.8 will run forever and with that rear end gearing and 9 speed plenty of power. My Frontier cruises 70 at about 1800 rpm, same as my RAM and the Frontier 4wd SL had more towing than mine.

Yeah the 3.8 sits around 1600 to 1700 at 70

@@ThorGPA I just called a local dealer who has an SL 4wd with the tech pack, leather seats and i think the Fender sound system? About 41 grand which is somewhat negotiable plus tax and the typical 800-900 dealer fees
@ThorGPA

That's not bad at all considering the SL is the highest trim offered

Keep up the good work. I am on the fence between a clean neat truck and one that looks lived in and enjoyed when you show it off.

Mine has been great so far in the 3+ months and near 5400 miles of ownership. I was planning a 5k mile update but seeing how fast 5k has come an went, I'm going to do one at month 6 of ownership....which will be deep in winter, so I'll have something to say on winter performance!

Nice brother, im picking my 2024 tomorrow!! Went with a Frontier for the same reasons, may be the last real AFFORDABLE mid-size truck on the market. A better 2024 Tacoma than a Tacoma.

Is the crew cab long bed version only available in SV trim? Does it still have all the heavy duty equipments like good axle and suspension?
@ThorGPA

Should be in S, SV and SL....but im not entirely sure on the SL. Should be the same axle minus the locker and non bilstien shocks

"Only the Gladiator and Nissan have V6 naturally aspirated engines, while the others have gone Turbo. Unfortunately, the Gladiator V6 has issues with its valvetrain due to dry starts, as well as transmission problems and the "Death Wobble." The Nissan, on the other hand, feels outdated with the same frame and chassis, lacking significant updates. I tested the PRO-4X and found it to be small and uncomfortable for average-sized guys like myself (I'm 5'11" 230 pounds). The seats and cab are small, and the rear seats are uncomfortable for drives longer than 30 minutes. The bed is flimsy, with a thin and cheaply made frame - you can even notice the cheap welds and thin frame. I also own a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek, which has the interior and size that the Frontier should have. The Frontier feels outdated, more like a 1998 model, despite attempting to update with nice orange trim. I hope Nissan will come up with a better, larger Frontier to effectively compete with others. Until then, it might gradually fade away, similar to the destiny of the Titan." I ended buying a 2024 CHevy Colorado Trail Boss, and I challenge you to drive it and compare it side by side.

Flimsy frames? You sure you aren't talking the Tacoma? The Nissan Frontier has a fully boxed frame. Something the Tacoma can't say and it's well documented they break frames. Also the new Tacoma is breaking transmission cases within a few thousand miles. I can deal with an "outdated" truck along as it's the more reliable one. The reason I didnt go with the Colorado/canyon is GM found a casting defect in the block thay causes the crank mains to Crack. I'm sure your aware of that. I didn't go with the gladiator party because of the live axles and partly die to the pentastar (I had one) Don't even get this former Roush tech started on ford...Ford.... I specifically went with the Frontier BECAUSE it has less electronics and built off a PROVEN platform.

@@ThorGPA I mean the frame on the bed... they are and fell cheap. as for the GM Block, I have not read or hear anything about casting on the 2.7L L3B. I know Colorados especially the 2023 (1st year) had a lot of issues with software, my 2024 has none so far... but when I was comparing I had a 2021 GMC Canyon AT4, I parked side by side, the 2nd Gen Canyon AT4 vs Frontier Pro-4X and both my wife and kids all say NO! neither one like it and Neither did I. it felt cheap, small and flimsy. and like I said that was comparing to a 2021 GMC (2nd Gen) AT4, now that I have the 2024 Colorado Trail Boss even as a lower Trim level, still beats the Pro-4X hands down on everything. HP are identical 310HP, torque on GM is 430ftlb not the paltry 289ftlb. interior space and looks... even a BLIND person would tell you is better on GM. cargo, off-road, looks, etc. hands down. Don't get me wrong I love the V6, and I used to have the 3.6L V6 on my Canyon. but the new twins are really really good. and cost about the same, my Trail Boss similarly equipped to your Pro-4X was MSRP $42k (minus leather and Premium sound)

Being "cheap feeling" and "flimsy" are only a subjective opinion. You'd be shocked how thin the sheet metal is on your truck as well. All the trucks are "thin skined" And to be perfectly honest, the trail boss was my #2 pick. But the trail boss has its own disadvantages. The mechanical locker and auto 4x4. The G80 Has the nickname of "gov bomb" for a reason and them auto 4x4 t-cases have a tendency to have its fluid pump eat thru its own case. How much actual research have you done? Because it seems your only here to talk down on my purchase. I picked my truck for very specific reasons...the same as you. You don't see me talking down about your purchase. I've spent the last year after getting rid of my S10 HEAVILY researching the market. I know of all the issues out there. This is from a customer satisfaction letter GM put out regarding the 2.7 "Earlier this month General Motors released Customer Satisfaction Program “N232415060”, which covers a “Block Main Oil Gallery Hot Core Pin Casting Defect.” The program identifies that an uncertain number of 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 could have defective engines. Interestingly, the program does not cover 2023 GMC Canyon pickups, which also use the L3B engine." Being that yours is a 24, hopefully the block is good to go and the issue resolved. The worry part for me, GM doesn't know how many are effected of if any 2024s are effected. This letter was earlier this year.

@@ThorGPAI understand your perspective and I appreciate your input. I'm not trying to belittle your choice, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I'm just trying to compare and share my thoughts based on what I've observed. It seems like Nissan may be facing some challenges by not investing in real research and development to offer competitive models. This could be the reason why Nissan isn't getting as much attention from reviewers compared to brands like Ford, Toyota, and GM. It's frustrating to see the lack of recognition, especially when even models like the Gladiator, which may not be highly regarded, are still being mentioned.

That's fair. Thank you. Part of the reason the Frontier gets forgotten about is because for 16 years it was pretty much unchanged. 2005 to 2021. Without change things get forgotten about. I think, if I'm understanding you correctly, a lot of the issues you have with the current Frontier likely stem from it being built off the 2nd Gen truck. It's the same frame. Even the 3.8 and 9 speed debuted in the 2020. So the outdated feel is because it's on old bones. But that frame is solid. I was parked next to the 2nd Gen Frontier earlier and they are pretty much the same size. Other then an updated body and interior its (in simple terms) a second Gen truck. I've had 2 gm trucks in the past and grew up in a gm family so I'm not a stranger to GM. They make a good product.
