Thank you! I used to be in car sales, so this video was inspired to help with the area that's most hard to go over in detail after the purchase! (especially having to bear this in person after dealing with a finance advisor~~ haha) Also, if you bought a new car, your dealership might have a program called Love-Encore that let's you go back and do this in person with a specialist and you even get a $25 gas card for your time.

@@whatdoesthiscarbuttondo I haven't had a chance to see the software level yet. I peruse the outback forum so I knew there was an issue with the carplay mic. I use android and at least on the trip home, wireless AA worked fine. I come from a 21 Legacy so the learning curve isn't as steep for me. I appreciate your video and may watch it again to make sure I didn't miss anything.

hello I have outback 2023 and I have a question about headlights. when the triger switch is in automatic mode and I turn on the drive the low beam and running lights come on (I'm talking about daylight hours). Is it normal? should the low beam turn on in this mode? because on my forester, only the running lights turn on

Hey! Thanks for asking! But you are correct, the older generation of vehicles only kept the "C" shape LED on while in auto and driving, but Subaru changed that over the years. So most of the new models will turn on the headlights in a lower power state. I believe this was changed due to various research showing that more light will make you more visible or because some of Subarus customers refuse to embrace the auto and always leave their light on. So yes, while a bit odd, it is intended to work this way! Also, remember that while in auto the car will control your high-beams, so don't be alarmed if you push forward for hi-beam and "nothing" happens 👍🏻

But Subaru does listen to advice, so feel free to send your feedback to them using this link: www.subaru.com/subaru-email-us.html In 2020 the Outback had only the "Settings/car", "home" and profile button down there, but as per customer requests, Subaru added the most requested options! What setting were you interested in having down there?

Thanks for the overview. I am a new to Subaru and electronic safety controls in my vehicle. If I am driving with the Lane Departure Prevention function activated to keep the car between the lines on a road, what happens when I approach road construction or accident locations where lane closures occur. If my lane is forced into a temporary lane and I am forced to drive out of my lane markings will the car prevent me from crossing the lines or driving in a temporary traffic lane? Can I override the steering resistance? Also, if I am in the centre of a lane and someone in the lane beside me is driving too close or over the line, can I still steer away?

Thanks for asking! If you are using the "lane departure prevention" or the "all functions" as seen at 6:05 in the video, then you can very easily take control back. Even if the car will try to keep you in the original lane, which now shifted, if the car feels resistance from you in the steering wheel it will immediately give control back to you. Also, in my experience, when the car sees "unusual" driving conditions in front, it cancels and gives control back. But if you are using the cruise control and "lane centering" function, the car will be more aggressive at holding you in lane, so lane centering takes a bit more force to give control back to you, but both will give you the control back as soon as you take over the steering duties. So in scenario 2 where someone merges into you, the "lane prevention" function will let you dodge out of the way seamlessly, the "Lane centering" during cruise control, will still let you move, but will fight you back a bit more until it cancels.
