2024 PRO CIRCUIT CR500 TWO STROKE | Bike Build

When we rolled up to Utah for the final round of the 2024 Supercross season, we cruised out to Mountain West MX Park to check out Kris Papworth's incredible CR500. Sporting unique parts like billet cases, and a factory Honda CR500 head ported and polished by Mitch at Pro Circuit to Jeff Stanton's specs, we couldn't wait to see what this bike could do. Papworth= a real salt of the earth badass. I built a 1990 cr500 last year and my brand new ktm450 sxf has collected dust ever since. The old 500 brakes are good, transmission shifts like butter and never have to let off the gas. I realized within 2 minutes that we got screwed into riding 4 strokes (to make the oems more profit). The cr500 fun factor is untouchable. Kris is the man

Right? He's the guy that every time he hears the words Stark Varg, he runs out to his shop and puts a couple of extra ounces of 927 in all of his gas cans. Then he goes up a couple jet sizes on all the bikes. All while singing the star spangled banner. All kidding aside, that is a sweet build. I wish we could get a few more detailed shots of it. I raced a 87CR-500 in motocross and occasionally did some woods riding on it as well ,the moose heavy-weight flywheel most definitely made it more rideable /tractable in the woods especially beings that I only weighed 137lbs when I raced

Any more info on this facility? Their Facebook page doesn't have any updates in the last 2 years and the website appears to be currently NFG. Is this a public track? Do they have regular open/practice days etc?

Last time I had a cr500 and it cracked the primary side case like they always do. I looked into those billet cases. Cause good luck finding unrepaired cases. 1,500.00 a side. Like 5 years ago.

Technical question: Does Whiskey or anyone know if the new 2025 CRF450R share the same engine to frame mounting with the prior generation? If so, we potentially have 4 more years of Cr500 engine swaps with the use of the TSR billet adaptor cases without frame welding.

If anyone has any knowledge and would care to share, as a 2000 rm250 owner with thoughts of furthering my build. How much would it cost for PC billet cases? PC fan thru and thru, have my platinum header but still trynna find a slip on to coincide. Instead of the fmf long silencer I have now. Ikno you don’t need them, it’s more of a want thing. But also billet being stronger then casting woods/offroad riding would def have less scares with the case being punctured .

Like carson brown said about the CR-500 engines, they were designed /engineered to be in steel frames and not in alot more rigid aluminum frames Still mad at myself for selling my old 87CR-500 in the mid 90's and knowing that its worth twice of what i paid for it off the showroom floor in the spring of 1987 ! 85 /86 & 87CR-500's were the most brutal CR-500s 88 and up were all intentionally detuned in attempts of making them more ridable

They were never detuned, only refined to broaden the power. A 2001 cylinder will flow just as much, or more, air as an earlier year.

An Austrian told me that there is talk about a new 380! Reason is the 300's weight and being down on power compared to the carb version.
