I’ve been watching your videos for years. All have improved my riding and gave me the confidence to do stationary log hops and clutch up techniques. Pivot turns are an everyday must. I don’t know how I ride without knowing how to do them. Pivot hops over logs and just general knowledge of always weighing the pegs has made a massive difference. I stress all these techniques to my friends and they have all started to improve as well. Thanks for everything you do Rich! Keep shredding 🤟🏻

Love this! I have ridden bicycles more than dirt bikes, and having to pedal forced me to lean way forward, but it felt very weird to lean forward on a dirt bike during accel without pedaling. I'm learning how much goes through my feet/legs on a dirt bike and when I get it working right my arms are so much more relaxed and I can ride the trails much better and longer. Thanks for the great tips!!

Man he in is so detailed and in depth. . Rich, Larson, Chris, Burch, and AJ (Moto academy ) Make up my triangle. I really started actually trying to improve about three years ago. I make time to practice during the week even if it’s a half hour just to get something in and you don’t need a lot of space So throw that excuse away. You can work on static balance, Body positioning, etc. riding with my buddies is fun but when you’re pushing out a hard pace It’s difficult to work on technique. I try to make a conscience effort to always Work on at least one thing every time I go out. I have a horrible habit of pulling the clutch when braking . That’s next on the list. Your awesome. Thank you

Hey Rich, great video. Can you explain the reason to drop the heel when accelerating? You mention it a few times. Im curious why you dont mention squeezing the seat with knees. Most other youtube vidoes that talk about body position say you should squeeze seat with your knees. Cheers
@joncov
@joncov 3 ай бұрын
this position is changing a lot when riding, obstacle riding included, it is the best position for some important reasons I noticed one thing that needs counter-intuition - it is the head position, raising head makes the rest of the body want to spoil the stance I found 2 solutions: when riding slowly keep head down and look up with the eyes only when riding faster raise the head a little but counteract the natural body movement that follows

Your videos are amazing, thanks I learn a lot. I will watch for your class schedule and see if I can coincide. One quick question, on braking without clutch, are you also downshifting without clutch when you needed - and, on that same note, where do you land on the need to use vs no need to use clutch when either up or downshift (on dirt)? Thanks in advance - David

Awesome video! I have been looking for this explanation for a while. Are you supposed to also squeeze the bike between your legs when accelerating? I feel this gives me an extra grip and point of support but not sure if that is bad technique also. Thanks for sharing this content!!
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto 4 ай бұрын
Honestly, squeezing with your knees is such a interesting topic. I’m never actually thinking squeeze with my knees. Most of the time when I see riders who are very focused on squeezing they’re very stationary on the bike. They don’t move back-and-forth and maximize their input into the machine. When you point your toes in you’re naturally going to squeeze more, but I don’t think I’d recommend trying to hold a stationary position on the bike.
@alejandrodemosteyrinmunoz5755
@alejandrodemosteyrinmunoz5755 4 ай бұрын
@@IRCTireUSAMoto thank you for the quick replay! I think you’re right; when I squeeze the bike I am actually holding my weight with my legs, not my arms. Still, the technique you’re teaching is to counterbalance the acceleration force with the forward movement/position of the body. I must say I ride a maxi-trail, not an enduro bike. So it might be a different environment. I’m just new in the off-road world and trying to figure thing out. Thanks again for the video and the reply. I wish I was closer so I could assist to your clases.

@@IRCTireUSAMoto Really. I advanced to 125 A class for a while in 1986, then stopped riding for 37 years. Bought a klx300 dual sport last year and have practised many of your basics. Went to a Beta demo last month and felt so comfortable with the power delivery and clutch feel that while on a high from the experience I out of the blue tried a 180 pivot turn on flat ground and nailed it. So rich larsen, what is your feeling on steg pegs, does it help with proper body postion, or hinder it, since I've been using steg pegs I haven't experienced arm pump, but I have noticed, sometimes, my body movement is slightly off during to the stegs being a crutch???? Just your thoughts
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto 4 ай бұрын
In my opinion, you can’t pull your knees far enough back with steg pegs on. doesn’t allow for an exaggerated body position encounter action. They may help you hold on, but I find it to be a crutch and a hindrance hitting larger obstacles.
