I love the idea of having the record of books read spread out through the journal as decoration!

That gold is gorgeous. Because oh you, I’m going to keep a reading journal this year but it’s going to just be a college ruled notebook lol

Excited to see Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah on your January tbr - it was the winner of my 2023 book bracket, my favourite read of the 90 books I read 2023. Not to overhype it lol, but gosh it was so brilliant. If you're still looking for a book title with "5" you might look into Five Little Indians by Michelle Good - it traces the lives of 5 characters as they unfurl in different directions after all surviving the same Residential School (the residential school system was a genocidal policy run by the church and the Canadian government whereby Indigenous children were forcibly removed from their homes).

OMG I'm 90% of the way through Chain-Gang All-Stars and was telling my husband my first read of the year might just be my favorite for the year lol You said it perfectly, it's simply brilliant! Thank you so much for your recommendation - I'm adding Five Little Indians to my TBR - I've heard about the history of the events, but I don't know much about it so definitely look forward to trying this one out, thank you ☺

Gosh your headings look AMAZING! It is hard for me to buy books I have never read also. I tend to get the ebook or get it from the library, and read it first. If I know I am going to read it again I buy a hard copy. But I know that bothers a lot of people too because now you have to copies of the same book...but I like having the physical book. I also love that you have your physical books listed in your journal. I thought about doing this then I realized just how many books I own...and thought it might not work for me. Great video!

Thanks so much friend! I'm such a library girlie that I never really bought books, but I'm slowly getting over my fear of buying new books I've never read lol I'm also getting into annotating, so being able to have my own physical copy is helpful! I'm hoping to keep my owned bookshelf super manageable lol I think I have 42 books drawn on these shelves so hopefully that's 'manageable" 😅 Thanks so much for watching! ❤

Loved this layout! I feel like you should do each book a different colour in your monthly tracker like book 1 black, book 4 red etc so when you draw the line you can accurately see! But I loved this. I bought a reading journal for this year but my goal is to work out what I like so I can make one for next year!!

That's a great idea! I'm going to try it out - you're right, it will make tracking a lot easier! ☺️ Ooo starting a reading journal to test out what works sounds like such a good idea and sooo fun! Good luck - I'd love to hear what types of spreads are working for you! Thanks for being here 🥰

beautiful spreads! Would 'Around the world in 80 days' count for 8, you think? There's also a classic that's been sitting on my shelf, waiting for me to read it, called '5 Little Peppers and How They Grew' - my dad's book, so pretty old. I enjoyed 'Slaughterhouse Five' when I read it many a moon ago. Or maybe 'The Fifth Season'? There's also a Good Reads list called "Eight is Great" for '8' suggestions.

Thank you! 🥰 Yes! Around the world in 80 days would count! I've seen the movie but haven't read the book - hmmm I've been thinking of possibly doing a spread in my journal for book to movie/show adaptations 🤔 Thanks so much for the book recommendations and Good Reads list suggestion, I will check them out ☺️

OMG, this is gorgeous! 😍😍😍 I love everything you're doing here! I also started tracking my book spending/saving this year and I am going to the library way more often now - it's been a month and I haven't bought a single book yet! ✨ I love the monthly calendar reading tracker idea for each book!!! 💖

Thank you so much! 🥰 after tracking my book expenses for the first time at the end of 2023, I knew I had to do it again this year! I'm new to buying books so it definitely helps me stay organized and budget lol As always, thanks so much for watching ☺

i do not understand that pen you are using. smh I never seen one like it. what is it? there s no ink holder?
@CatInMac4 ай бұрын
Hi! Yeah totally understandable - it looks a bit weird lol 😅 It is a pointed pen for calligraphy! So the pen consists of a holder and a nib and you can dip the nib in ink or paint on the color, similar to how I'm doing in this video. Its basically a more modern version of old school quill pens that you would dip in ink. I hope that answered your question, thanks so much for watching ☺
