I like how clearly you structured the video and how on point your explanations where 😊 Personally the most important part for me with bullet journaling is reflection and writing down my thoughts, feelings, ideas etc. My bullet journal looks nothing like yours, has no consistent themes through a month or pretty weekly spreads. It's a chaotic collection of different spreads, brain dumps and other things, I need to get off my mind. But that's the beauty in bullet journaling: you create what you need and what works for you. And I still find it helpful and inspiring, hearing other people talk about what works for them 😊

exactly! that’s interesting that you use it mostly for reflection. like a daily journal or diary?

Great summary! I've been bullet journaling about 1.5 years and it's been sooo helpful for me. I'm definitely more organized, it's helped with forming new habits, but it's also helped me being more creative. I've always liked art, I used to paint with my grandma when I was a kid, but it's something that doesn't come super easy for me. I'd stare at a blank page or canvas and talk myself out of trying. Now, I'm doing at least a little bit of art every single month and I've been surprising myself at how well some of my paintings and drawings have turned out.

I've got a basic journal earlier this year but I wasn't really sure what to do with it (it was a gridded one), so when I decided to start a bullet journal recently I was a little lost, so this video helped me a lot. I'm not particularly artsy but I love layout making and take a class in visual design, so I feel like this would be a great opportunity to practise both time-management and design! I hope next year I'd be able to improve my productivity, thank you for the amazing video Sophie :3

Hi, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video! I'm 37 and this is something I really want to do but been postponing it because yeah... I see all of your guys' journals and they all look so beautiful and I'm not artsy at all (even tho I'd love to be 😭)... And all I have are a few colored pens and colored pencils xD lol. I've been digitally journaling and keeping track of things for years and I love it. And since I love to write I think this could be something for me. I loved how you said "you are going to make mistakes", made me feel so much better, ngl. I set up my journal for December (I kinda wanted to wait till January because it felt like a waste, but I saw this video and said to myself why not!) and made so many mistakes 😭... But I'm kind of satisfied with the result still. Even with just colored pencils. I'm super excited to start using my journal today! But anyway, thanks a lot for this video. I'll subscribe rn.

A wonderful video! You made it very clear that a bullet journal don't has to be artsy (especially referring to the original idea) but can be. The only point I miss are the collections from Ryder Carroll. Next to habit tracker ect often seen on yt one can also use brain dump pages or journal/ taking notes on a specific topic for example on the last book one read or for work or school. And then an index come in handy. I like the idea on not having thousands of sticky notes and random papers with notes but just one BuJo. Also (as said in a different comment) reflecting and adjusting is a big thing, and the bujo gives you a lot of freedom for that.

I'm starting a bullet journal for the first time this year, even though it's currently more like a planner I drew out with monthly art pages. Still, I'm excited to use stationary from my favorite artists and have an aesthetic journal to reflect in at the end of the day, and maybe even cross off a few goals.

Hi! What a great video for us beginners. You were very thorough in your presentation of the bullet journal system. I have been a paper planner person for going on 7 years and am starting bullet journaling in April. I am going to start small so I can build the habit, but if I like it, I would like to incorporate design into it. Your art work is mind blowing! I have a hard enough time with a ruler and a straight line. 🤣 I hope to gain the courage to try something with markers. Drawing stick people is where I’m at. Sigh. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

ive always been kind of scared to start a bullet journal out of fear of somehow messing it up. Do you have any advice on getting over a perfectionist mentality when starting a journal? Your art was beautiful and i think i’ll try to start one this upcoming year :) happy holidays!!
@mingostudio4 күн бұрын
bestie i’m the biggest perfectionist haha it for me is like a trial by fire method like i just have to wait for the mistakes to happen and then learn to let them be mistakes. there are lots of spreads in my bujo i simply don’t like that i’ve left or moved on from, and i’ve learned small techniques for fixing little mistakes like white gel pen, but overall just letting the imperfections breathe has helped my perfectionism. it’ll never go away completely so im just trying my best, and i encourage you to do the same 🥰

yay i'm glad it was helpful! i always recommend A5 (or any size) dotted journals like Archer & Olive, Notebook Therapy, and Kuma Stationery. All 3 are linked below my videos in the description boxes. Hey this is a great video, I have been contemplating bullet journaling for a long time but decided new year, may as well. What held me back a bit was perfectionism and fear of making mistakes or drawing bad things - any tips on how to get over that?
@mingostudio Жыл бұрын
thank you! honestly i’m a perfectionist too haha and there was a while (and sometimes still) when i get in a creative slump just bc something i drew didn’t turn out how i wanted. but i think it’s good to remember that your bujo is like a time capsule and even if something isn’t perfect, it still holds memory. instead of focusing on making spreads aesthetically pleasing, i think it’s good to remember that in a year or two when you flip back through the pages you won’t remember the “mistakes” in your designs, but more how your life was at that period and how much you’ve grown since. this helps me stay motivated to keep journaling through times of low creative energy. hope it’s helpful! 🤎🤎

Hello there! Just got my first bullet journal for Christmas. My goal for this is for using my journal for "self care"/mental health. I read a blog about going about this, and an area that I read is have collections sections dedicated to: personal care, physiological wellbeing, physical care, emotional care, spiritual care, social care etc. Do you have any suggested videos that take a look at layouts with incorporating collection sections smoothly? My ultimate goal for this is mindfulness. I am also a very beginner, first time and I think the creative aspect of this type of journal, with the inclusion of these collections will help immensely! Thanks
@mingostudio7 күн бұрын
that sounds awesome! i don’t really have any videos about merging collection spreads with planning spreads (if that’s what you’re asking..?) but my recommendation would be that if you want to do themes or design motifs then just keep it consistent throughout the month (or any time period) so all the spreads match. and also i def recommend going through your spreads after a few months, evaluating which spreads work from your collections, and editing your process from there. does this answer your question? ◡̈

I need a beginners video for the beginners video lol cause im still not 100% sure what a future log vs monthly vs weekly log is for
@mingostudio Жыл бұрын
no worries! they’re all basically for planning ahead and writing any events or todos and any other things to remember but on different scales. a weekly log/spread is events on the weekly scale, the monthly on the monthly (like a monthly calendar), and the future log or yearly log is usually for 12 months. although some events may overlap on all three, i find it’s helpful bc i may not make a weekly until the sunday before. so having a place to store an event/to-do happening that week, like on a monthly calendar or yearly overview, is helpful to keep myself in check. it’s like a little migration system. lmk if this answers your question! :)
