As both a 411 Himma owner and a KTM 390 owner, ill almost certainly be picking up one of the new 450 Himmas once they become available here in the US

I have always been disappointed by its kerb weight, I can’t understand why they can’t reduce the weight, they are no longer classic (tech).. these are new bikes, All other modern bikes weigh less (don’t compare 700-800-1000cc bike)
@kankit230
@kankit230 9 ай бұрын
@@guptatushar86 it's kerb weight and for adventure category it's perfectly fine, any 400 cc adventure will not weigh less than 185kgs because they can't extensively use aluminium as steel provides better strength and repairabilty

My own feeling is it depends on your viewpoint. I have no issue with the 411's weight because of how it carries that weight. And ill always contend that there IS such a thing as 'too light' on the road in high wind conditions. That's why I'd never take an actual dual sport on a 3000 mile ride. But again, personal preference comes into play and it just depends on what you're looking for from a machine.

I love the fact it has a proper front mudguard like the last one, so you don’t get covered in crap. So proud of what RE has achieved, made in India means quality and rugged reliability.

RE may have decent bike here for mostly on road travel on a budget. In our club we have a couple of RE owners one of the guys is on his second, From his point of view they are like the old “pit bikes” buy one, ride it till it breaks buy another, ride it till it breaks, use the 1st bike as parts to keep the 2nd running. Not a bad plan and can be cheaper if you have good luck and get a really good RE or ride them gently and dont break em :) Not sure India and quality are generally two words that go together. But I would 100% buy Indian over Chinese if forced to roll the dice on either. All countries are capable of making reliable, good quality products. Some locations are more prone to corner cutting, bribery and corruption for the sake of profit. China and India a probably the two most common locations that large western companies have bans on when it comes to manufacturing point of origin restrictions. They still buy from those locations but only after implementing more stringent QA/QC.

For people outside of India, the place where this was shot is on average 14000 ft altitude..anything above 12000ft, the oxygen level gets very low, and unless one acclimatizes before, can have physical discomfort starting from nausea, headache, vomiting to complete collapse even... Same happens for the motorcycle engines. Non FI engines can hardly even breathe, the condition is better with FI, but you may still expect 25-30% power drop. Bdw...this is the best Himalayan review I have ever seen. And those shots from Nepal were amazing. And thanks for that shot of Himalayan Golden Eagle soaring. I consider them my spirit animal. Saw a pair of those in the mid Himalayas once.

Yes, I was making Clubby aware there is dramatically less oxygen and it effects engine. performance, particularly torque quite noticeably.

Had the 411 and I must say, this new 452 version is literally everything the previous one lacked outdone by faaar and then RE put luxuries on it I never expected. A never seen before (on bikes at least) navigation system in all digital instruments, full LED, a slightly adjustable seat, ride by wire with modes, light and dark mode for the display, still chopped off a little weight even tho they added lots of heavier stuff like tubeless spokes. And RE also kept stuff I didn't expect, since some spec sheet warriors were screaming quiet loudly to reduce weight, like the mainstand, fairings, luggage rack, metal tank. This bike is my dream come true - an affordable go anywhere bike, that's easy to access maintain and light on the pocket so you don't have to shatter your dreams if you use it for what it is made for - riding anywhere at anytime without worries.

About the Nav in bike Instrument. Turn by turn is available quite long, true proper nav in Honda and BMW tourers for a while now... well, nothing to be ashamed being seen next to it. Huge step tho, let's see if it will stand the hype... and the price that comes with it. Has to be below Suzuki vstrom 650 to sell well.

Saying the subframe is "fixed" is a bit ambiguous so to clarify, the subframe is bolted to the main frame and can be replaced in the event of it being damaged. The passenger footrests however are welded to the subframe and cannot be removed. Just to clear that up.

I am waiting for the tubeless spoke rims to be launched as they are still under homologation in India. I have been waiting for this for some time. A motorcycle which can do easy 120 kmph on the highways and with 20-30 kmph buffer and plenty power and torque. And the main need for me are the tubelss spoke rims cos that would mean I dont have to carry tubes, axle and tyre removal tools and my luggage can reduce further. And i am not even sure what else is needed on this bike to wait. If anything, maybe adjustable front forks which can be swapped out. 100% I am buying this.

Looks much improved though some won't be happy with it largely losing its classic RE look. Definitely has more of a dual sport look to it. One thing I wonder is why do "Adventure" bike designers build bikes with such low exhausts, especially in countries where water crossings are the norm? Same for the air-box, kudos for lifting it but its a regular maintenance area, especially in arid conditions and removing the fuel tank is not ideal.

@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV How sure are you? US bikes don't need to be homlugated before being imported. There's plenty of bikes here that get imported and have the buyer, not the dealer, deal with being roax legal on their own. Another commenter mentioned a sub $7,000 price tag . . . let's hope it's not that expensive, because I'd be questioning whether the bike is worth it at all at that point. The original Himalayan cost $5,500. I'd buy this bike for that price. I'd even buy it from a grand more. But for $7,000, I can promise you I'd find a better bike than this for that price. Hi mate, what a great review, down to earth and you covered everything. I'm looking to replace my old BMW 650 and this looks credible. I don't want a heavy big twin. I love the Triumph X400 but the non wire wheels concern me going off road. Will demo both. Cheers man!

In 1982 we were able to build a bike that weight 137 kg... with more power, more torque, less electronics...and especially more fun... I'll never trade my Honda XL400S for one of this... Maybe it's just me guys, but I think we've just lost it...

Do you know if that curb weight of 196 kg include center stand and crash bars? Himalayan also has real steel rear rack standard. So comparing the weight to competitors, 15 -20 kg difference may be explained by better std equipment of Himalayan.

Yeah it does, but then most competitors also include the standard equipment in theirs too. Take Reiju 500 Aventura for example. The extra equipment that included adds up to 13kg.
