The old EF 15mm f/2.8 fisheye from 1987 would make cool lens for capturing arenas and crowds. It is a solid well built lens and runs between $200-300. Lightroom will correct if you want a less radical different effect. Could be something to play with and it is a small lens that is easy to pack. My son using one for concerts and he always gets a few good stage shots and crowd shots.

Oh for sure! I actually do have a 16mm but was including my go-to lenses here. Also rented a fisheye last year and did a video on it. Very cool lenses!!

Congrats on the new place! I recently had to move my set up to a new location too. What was once my office has become my daughter's play room.

Thanks! It’s nice to finally have a place of our own where we can do what we want with the walls and yard etc.

Welcome back and congrats. I used my old 1dx with my ef300 f2.8 yesterday for some girls flag football. Not sure what is happening, but i captued a run right at me and got 6 sharp shots and 2 soft ones in the middle? Background remained the same. No one crossed in front. Puzzling. Does this often. Happy shooting.

Might be your lens or af settings. Not sure what would cause that tbh. Thanks for watching as usual and happy shooting as well

Meant to add I'm using r6mark ii. But i also have mark i for backup.

Hope that response helps. I will also check some other settings and see if there is something to help with the hunting.

@DLivingston thank you I would really appreciate that. I will try single point tonight. I have football game tonight but left the 300 at home.

Congratulations to new location/setup. Yep i have a similar grip. I do have a question regarding the 300 2.8. What case do you use for football? And what af area?. Lens keeps hunting. My settings are servo..af whole area...whole tracking off...subject to detect people..eye detection off. Sorry for long post. Just need some help. Im shooting night games.

I usually use 1-point af. My case I am usually using 2 or 4 but to be honest, I have switched around from case to case and never feel too much of a change but I often don't think about it so maybe thats why.

Solid gear set up, using a backpack or roller?
@DLivingston4 ай бұрын
I bag it as of now but I should rolling to save my back carrying it everywhere. I have a couple of other lenses I carry as just in case situations like my 16mm and occasionally and a 85mm macro. So a roller would be ideal. Thanks for watching

Hey Derek, out of curiosity what kind of bag do you have?
@DLivingston4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I missed the whole point of the video! Ha but I use the Think Tank Photo Airport Accelerator Backpack.

@@DLivingston is it good for soccer coverage?

@@khachhrach I have only shot soccer with my 300mm. I’m sure you could make it work for sure though.
