One of the best value for money utes on the market in Australia, and a much better option than any of the Chinese offerings!

I have a 2023 Ultimate and love it. The tech is fantastic and the fuel economy is outstanding. 2 trips from Melbourne to Sydney and Sydney to Port Macquarie. This presenter needs to read the book of rules before making comments about what you can and can't do with the drivers display. Most comfortable vehicle I have driven for many years.

Better owner reviews than all other utes on product review, that speaks for itself. Mine has been a dream, so much more refined than the other offerings and the auto locking diff helps a lot. The rear end flex with the coils is also awesome. Drop your brand snobbery and test one out.

I have a 2023 model with the same km reading almost. The instrument cluster showing the range will also show the average lit /100 etc if you press one of the toggles on your right on the steering wheel. On a recent trip to Bellarine from SE Melbourne I got 6.79 lit/100 and urban driving I get roughly 8.8lit/100. My last Ute was a MQ Triton and I feel the Musso is a better Ute than that. All in all we are happy with our purchase @ $44k drive away.

great honest review on the musso which is about time. especially the mention regarding road vibration, steering and pulling to the left. There are a alot of owners that experience the vibration and Ssangyong don't want to know about it. i own a MY21 and is the worst ute i have owned. but thank you for your honest review.

Great review mate. I just bought the short wheelbase today, dealers are willing to negotiate on sticker prices too. I like the fact you can turn off the aids easily. Dual-zone AC, heated and ventilated seats and an 11.8m turning circle for the SWB or 12.2m for the LWB. Peak 4X4 sells a lot of aftermarket and genuine things like wireless chargers for under 300 or Korean factory-fitted rear LED tail lights. You don't hear of people with DPF problems like the GWM.

Bought one SWB 2 months+ for my daily drive to work, tow my 2.3 t boat and a few trips. I never though I would buy a ssangyong but what a great car 40k with towbar and electric brake control. At start was wobly for 300k or so but quiten down 100%. Excellent drive ,better power that my 16' v6 diesel territory and more economical. Average speed/economy you can choose from the options and 4000k later it's faultless. In general the review it's ok but I think ssangyong sould have come up with different suspension options and height from factory. All in all nice car!

I know it's not perfect but I can't afford a D-Max or Ranger so this, the LDV T-60 or the GWM Cannon are really the only options if I want new. Also in it's favour is the ridiculous prices of mainstream used utes, unless I want one with 200,000 km on it.

@unclesmate Thanks for asking the question. I regularly read the posts on the FB Musso owners group specifically to see how often the vibration issue around 80 kph crops up. It seems it is rare but the problem does exit, possible fixes, transmission mount, wheel balance/road force balance, tire pressure, replace wheels/tyres. On a new vehicle, do you really want to fork out the extra money to fix. The vehicles that have the problem, it seems the manufacturer denies there is a problem! The gentleman doing this review, is a mechanic and probably a good one at that in my option, I back his expertise. Reading between the lines, the review wasn't a glowing report, it sent shudders (pun intended) when he mentioned vibrations.

@@akent46 Thanks for that. From a Musso owner that posted on FB 4 days ago. "For those of you that have experienced vibration at 80km/h on the Musso. You are not alone and it is an issue contrary to the trolls on here that imagine that they are the experts. A few months back one member, who from memory was in the tyre industry, reckoned it was a drive line vibration. He was spot on, at near on 30,000km my rear diff died, totally spat the dummy. It was towed to a dealer who inspected it, he said it was the pinion bearing, it was misaligned and had over the 30,000km worn to a point of failure. Whole rear diff was replaced under warranty, picked it up today and absolutely zero vibration. Would suggest those experiencing it raise this with their dealer. Rear diff pinion bearing. Hope this helps someone out there."

a lot better looking than the previous model, seems pretty good to me its basic without being too basic and equipment seems generous, I wonder with Ssangyong how reliable are they over time . Suppose for the price they are a no brainer compared to a Hilux or Ranger I have driven a 2019 Rexton as a loner and it was a good car but the 4x4 system clunked and knocked as it found traction which for me was very agricultural but it did the job, I don't feel 4x4 systems are Ssangyongs strength.

Underrated mate. The badge snobs will tell you otherwise but Ssangyong have been building engines and 4wds for over 70 years they have just had bad luck with ownership and poor earlier design choices and struggled to crack the Aussie market. I’ve test driven a few of the big names and about to purchase this in the ELX (LWB).

Thinking about this Ute in Europe the price is 10k euro less than a ranger or hilux. Ofc not the highest trim levels ranger and hilux, that gap would be even bigger. I want to test drive it since in this video the guy didn't liked the ride quality I was a bit concerned if its really that bad or hes biased. Mostly I drive paved roads and gravel roads little offroad. It can't be that bad drive quality compared to leaf spring trucks. In EU it cost SWB 45k Euro highest trim level but no blind spot and no 360 cam.

@@Eclipse89 Hey mate, take one for a test drive. No reason for me to be biased. Only thing I am biased towards is quality products, fit for purpose, and engineering. This does alright for its price - one of the cheapest of its kind in Australia. Value is its biggest attraction 👍

If they could just sort out the suspension and ground clearance this would be a genuine threat to things like HiLux and Ranger. Would also benefit hugely having improvements to its 4WD arrangement - lockers and auto selection like Mitsubishi would be a huge improvement They stripped out the light/power from the bed a year or two ago which was baffling I’m glad they kept this steering wheel for Musso because they’ve changed it in the Rexton and it now has cheap buttons that are far less usable or intuitive.

In practice the PWR mode is mainly there to avoid situations where you don't want the gearbox shifting to the next gear too early, like when driving up hills. It's not for speed. In most cases ECO will actually do a better job of not overshooting the engine's powerband.
