I enjoyed watching the Shaw Classic live, but something that has bothered me a bit as a viewer are the deadlift rules. Obviously being strict on the lockout is great, but I think there's no reason to be too strict on how competitors get to the lockout part as long as it's a clean lockout.
@jlim941129 күн бұрын
Of course there’s a reason for it. Brian wants to keep things as straightforward as possible and not leave anything up to speculation once it’s all said and done (especially on a raw deadlift event). Whenever an athlete performs a world record, he should get 2 or 3 bonus points. Im talking about the raw record here, which at the time was held by Jerry
@Hades-it3gf29 күн бұрын
What about medleys? Mitch had a great run on the axle medley and Lucas hatton smashed the dumbbell medley but since there’s no official world record that means there’s no opportunity to get extra points on their best event whereas Thor does get an opportunity on his best events like deadlift and keg toss.

@@Hades-it3gf It should count for all events, not only those two medleys you mentioned. - At the 4th event, Hafthor broke the WR for the Heaviest Manhood stone ever repped in a competition - Last event Fingals fingers into Power stairs is also a WR (Hafthor's 45.02 seconds was not only the best time of this contest but it also beat Tom's performance from last year where the two fingers were slightly lighter). - Also, what about the 6th event: Wheelbarrow into Arm over Arm power medley which was also won by Hafthor?

This would be the stage to prove the world record. Not a personal gym.

A world record is a world record. Yes this would be the perfect place to perform one obviously. But if its done somewhere else then its done and its the world record. I guess you can make a "world record of highest weight done in front of a crowd" category

@georgeforeman1097 no. Every strength record of this magnitude has been done in competition. Where there is no way it could be faked. No question.

@kennyk5150 thats actually not true. Many world records have been done out of competition. Actually most have. Thor holds 56 world records btw. If the world record can only be done in competition then i guess its not a world record, its a competitions record. Please say that from now on, thor doesnt hold the competition record but he holds the world record so its okay.

This is a strongman event not a deadlift only event. If you wanna see a potential 502 or 505kg deadlift you'll have to wait for the deadlift world championships.
