2024 Subaru Solterra Limited - Why Aren't These Selling?

This is the exact car I got a few weeks ago lol, red Solterra Limited. I’m loving it, can’t think of any complaints. I’m getting close to 300 miles on a full charge, but 60%+ of my driving is city so that definitely helps. The lease deal was insanely good too 😅

⁠@@dman357this is not an EV issue lol. My last 3 gas cars didn’t have spares either. They had fix a flat kits just like my new EV. If I do get a flat it’s a good thing I have roadside assistance

@@dman357 people do things they don’t want to do everyday, that’s part of participating in life. We have different priorities, I’m not going to exclude a vehicle from my buying decisions simply because it doesn’t have a spare tire. 40% of cars on the market today don’t have spares. I’m not limiting myself that much

Funny, I see a lot of things saying people "hate these", but I don't find many people who actually do, and if they do, it's because of price. Well, it is AWD, which is necessary if you live where I live and do activities I do. I have a 2024, and it is by far the nicest car I have ever owned. It's made with quality throughout the whole thing. To be double motor AWD, have tons of space and still get almost 300 miles on a charge, what's not to like? Plus, I was stuck in traffic this morning and let my car just stop and go and drive all the way to work without touching the steering wheel or the brakes.

I leased a 2024 Premium in Galactic Black and am loving it! I can charge at work for free so no “fuel” costs to me (I know, not a feature of the car but I’d be foolish not to take advantage of current state of the world for what it is). For $0 down and $350 a month, I have a new car to use for three years and my chance to experience what EV’s are like. It feels great on the road: weight makes it feel sure footed, amazing ride quality, quiet (so nice and quiet), as much torque as I could ask for smoothly delivered. Best features!: Traditional gauge cluster location and physical buttons for HVAC/defrost/etc. I hated other EV’s that force everything through central touchscreen menus only!!! Range is limited comparatively but plenty for our use case. Level 2 charging time is fine since it happens once a week (usually Thursdays) while I’m parked at work anyway. I would not buy any EV at this point in their development. So I’ll have a blast for three years and see what’s happened with technology/pricing of ICE and EV cars at that time.

I love all Subaru cars! This time with a small question mark and fears... (because of what I hear about Tesla) I chose the Solter limited EV in white. I have no regrets!! What can I say...I love this car! I drive without problems and comfortably. I have contact with this car while driving without having to look for buttons, etc. Additionally, I saved on fuel, which cost me too much, especially nowadays. A lot of people pay attention to the wheels... I sometimes get compliments on the whole thing. many people are surprised that Subaru created an EV! Thanks for the video, because truth be told, I didn't finish the book about him..

Ok brother. I would not do this for just anyone. I'm going to watch your video on a EV. A Subaru one at that. In and of itself not such a big deal. The fact that I'm not going to complain or say anything negative is huge.

I sat in one. The interior felt cramped, the display cluster was hard to see. Honestly, it did not feel like a Subaru to me. Disappointing.

To answer your question, I don't know. If you want a dragster, look somewhere else. Otherwise, I don't know why you should look somewhere else. I'm getting mine tomorrow.

simple reason: $50,000 battery and 200 mile effective range. However i loved driving this car as a loaner though i won't pay MSRP for it. w8ll definitely consider a certified used at some point though the battery scares me

Lots of people love their Solteras/BZ4Xs. EVs are fun to drive and I'm sure the Soltera is too. But there are other EVs that have more range and more horsepower and charge faster for a similar price. I'm guessing most EV buyers cross shop and Soltera doesn't compare well. If you come from your average ICE vehicle it probably feels great. Personally I like the ground clearance but I find the cladding around the wheel wells to look bad and to me the interior with that weird binnacle is ugly. It needs a volume knob too. So these will sell when properly discounted or as a cheap lease, but most people are not going to buy when if they've seen the competition. The Toyota name only goes so far.

My dude, when I got my Subie(s) last year (ended up with a Crosstrek Wilderness) they had these for like 0.9% APR. I asked the sales person about them and laughed that nobody wanted one. He said he knows. Told me takes like two days to charge at the house off 120V. Was rolling his eyes and completing dismissing the vehicle as a complete waste of time. I mean, this was the Subaru Sales Guy. Check out the Toyota bZ4X, it's the same car.

Great review as always Kenny. This is the first review that I have seen of this car. Besides it being an EV it's just ugly to me. Too many different textures outside and for that kind of $$ there are many other better alternatives. That's just my humble opinion. Hoping that you are enjoying life and that great weather!

EVs simply are not selling. I live near a corporate campus that has a large auxiliary lot. This lot is filled with overflow stock of Teslas that sit there in all kinds of weather. Periodically the carrier truck comes by and unloads half a dozen more. They're not selling.

I leased a Solterra through the Subaru dealership I work at. At best full charge is 220 mi and if you turn on the air conditioning it zips it down immediately to 170 miles. Not good... If you're using it for a go-kart to get around town it's a great little vehicle $350 a month you can't beat it if you're looking to do any traveling well that's another story and let's not forget the only thing Subaru on this vehicle is the badge It is a Toyota not a Subaru.
