Yee has always been the most humble and respectful athlete and those who have followed him for at least a few years know that. Supertri is not the Olympics, it’s all about putting a show, that celebration had nothing to do with Wilde and doesn’t change Yee’s character or his wish to get more people excited about the sport he loves. All the hate and blind comments are just trying to discredit amazing athletes who have to race their own race to their strengths and their team’s tactics. If the format isn’t for you, there are plenty other tri formats.

Great racing, far more exciting to watch than long course!. Dont get the problem with Yee celebrating, he is a young, down to earth sportsman who just decided to do a in-trend celebration after a hard fought race. No one would be questioning it, if it wasn't for Wilde's reaction, which I personally dont understand his beef, as it is ok for him to do the 'falcon wings' as he crosses the line, but all Yee is allowed to do is a fist pump or hand in the air. If Wilde had crossed the line first flapping his arms around rather than crossing them I dont think Yee would have had a problem with it. (And btw I like Wilde, he is one of my favourite racers & enjoy his aggressive racing) but think he is annoyed at being beaten by Yee AGAIN!!

Im not sure, yes he was very frustrated in the interview about people not taking their turn. But if that is the case, then surely his frustration should be aimed towards Connix & even more so his team mate Luis. Yee & Hellwig were the only other ones to take a turn at the front on that final bike (albeit only a small amount compared to Wilde). But on the 2nd bike, there was a point when Wilde, Luis & Connix had got a slight gap on Yee, and Luis & Connix were not prepared to push the pace at the front to gap Yee further. I like Wilde's off the front racing, but after doing all that work on the front, it was then his team mate Luis (who sat behind the whole time) who then darted in front of him on the final straight and got into T2 first.

Connix not taking a pull on the bike was disappointing. Not much sportsmanship there. “No thanks, you do all the work and I’ll just sit here and draft your wheel…”
@Whiplashx92
@Whiplashx92 3 ай бұрын
He knew the gap to the 2nd group was large enough and that he also needed to save as much energy as possible to be able to run against Wilde and Yee so I don’t really blame him. It’s Wilde’s teammate Luis that didn’t do enough work if you’re looking for someone to blame 😅

Wilde and Luis should have taken turns on the bike to push at the front and break Yee by forcing him to close the gap and make him knackered for the run. I also thought Luis could have sent it on the swim and let Wilde close the gap on the bike so they could both work together at the front with a gap on Yee, which he wouldn’t be able to close without help.

It’s frustrating people only watch the last part of races. Yee took turns in the first bike and had to catch the front group alone in the second bike, even took the first turn in the 3rd bike. Wilde pushing for most of the rest of the 3rd bike was his choice, probably trying to drop Yee before the run. There are always some tactics at play, why is it even necessary to explain that. If you want no drafting go check out long distance.
@vozzen

Is that celebration fitting someone who wins due to a short chute? I used to cheer for Yee but without help on the bike he would not be a contender for the win. Furthermore, his bike fell down in transition? Why was he not penalized for that?

@@Whiplashx92 If you watch it back, you can see in the background of the shot that he was late coming out of transition because he was struggling to put on his right shoe. And you can see someone else (a non competitor) coming to rack his bike for him. He didn't rack his bike properly himself. I'm curious what the rule is ~ I would've expected a penalty for just having the front wheel racked and leaving your bike on the ground, based on how strict they seem to be about how equipment needs to be at transition..

I started triathlon in 1982. If Supertri is the future of the sport, I’m sad to see what it has become. What a joke! Drafting on a totally flat course, with several turns, without any separation. Yea should be disqualified for not racking his bike, and for poor sportsmanship.
@samanthasegar

He went back to rack his bike that is why he was out of transition late. There was no poor sportsmanship. He went and hugged Hayden after and shook hands. During the medal ceremony they were laughing and joking. They are friends and have huge respect for each other, what's a bit of celebratory showmanship on crossing the line?.
@sieg7140

For watching triathlon for four years, I must admit that you are right for the bike. Drafting is not really the problem for you can't do without on short races BUT the bike course IS not hard enough. As a consequence, it's always the same : if you swim well, you can't win the race but it prevents you from being in the wrong group for the bike, during the bike nothing really happens (2nd group can loose Time or gather with the first group) and, after, the best runners always win the race .... I mean, Can the best swimmers win the race ? Can the best bikers Can win the race ? No but the best runners always win. So, for exemple, a girl like Taylor Knibb (a plane on the bike) can't really win these kind of races. Bike part IS not hard enough. Tatics can't be developped (where good bikers Can attack on such course ? They can't exhaust the legs of good runners) ....
