I'm 6'5" and my GSX8R feels like it was built specifically for me. Especially with my beat up knees. My brother has an '06 GSXR-750 that is an absolute weapon of a bike but my big ass just can't fit on it. I've put a tail tidy on mine and just got my new levers today. I love this bike and in the 2 weeks I've owned it all I've gotten are compliments. It's the yellow btw.

Im getting ready to buy my first bike soon and I’m torn between a Ninja 650 and the GSX-8R. I’m a bigger guy and grew up on dirt bikes so I definitely don’t want to start on something small but also want something good for learning how to ride on the streets. Would you suggest one over the other to a semi-noob?

@@kylenye1228Have you seen the 2025 8R that comes in black and grey? It looks amazing. The fairing from the front actually looks like a H2, (well, at least that’s what crossed my mind the moment I saw it). Personally I like twin engines, (currently riding a 1000cc V-twin). I saw a video of a guy who replaced the muffler and his 8R suddenly had that twin roar. While a little low on HP, I really like this bike. Unless you have to have a high HP engine, you’ll love the 8R.

after about 3000-4000km on my gsx8s the quickshifter and blipper work very good. You have to press a bit harder than normal of course but you can really take corner liek a race car, going quickly up and down between 4th and 1st gear. Id say from my personal experience the quickshifter has a bit of a longer "break in" period.

I just bought this yesterday. Upgraded from a 2012 Ninja 650. It has a ton more power than my Ninja. I'm fully enjoying it so far. Even though I'm still in the break-in period. My only gripes are, no cruise control, and the inability to put a slip-on installed without replacing the full exhaust. Other than that, amazing upgrade for me, and an amazing bike. Got a 3 year, unlimited mile warranty for mine too, that allows mods.

Rode the 8S last year and it was one of the most fun bikes I've ridden in a long time. It's the fun of riding a slower bike fast. Plenty of torque down low where you're going to use it on the street without the need to rev the bike to the moon to get it moving. I think this bike and others like it are going to take over track days and club racing the same way the SV650 did 20+ years ago. The more experienced among you know what I'm talking about.

Great review. Loved it. Can’t wait for more. I have the 8S. Thinking of trading when the 8R gets here. The quick shifter; first it does soften with a couple or three thousand kms and secondly you have missed the point. The bike is designed to be ridden at 3-7000 rpm and is exciting in that range. As you said you ride in a higher gear, shift at 7000 even in a hurry. That means you change down at lower revs too. Change down at 3-5,000 rpm and it is smooth and easy, after 2-3000 km of riding. You can even change down with some power on. And if you are holding revs dead constant, always use the clutch up and down. Suzuki missed that memo.

I rode that bike back to back with the 8S. The 8S is snappier as the S750 makes its torque higher u the rev range. On the S750 you have to wait or change down. Can't argue the top end, but you will seldom get the Hp to the road as after a gear change or two you will be going too fast. The 8R has more accessible and sharper power, despite the numbers.

I had a 2013 Suzuki Gladius (the ugly duckling SV650 clone/variation) as my first bike. Loved it a lot, especially as a first bike. I put a ton of custom work into it after crashing it the first time and surprisingly made it beautiful. I thank that bike for giving me my first riding experiences and full bike tear-down/rebuild experience. Going by how you describe your experiences on that GSX8R, and how it sounds and appears to accelerate and it's gear ratio's, it honestly just seems as if Suzuki just pumped out a renewed full-faired SV650. Which isn't bad at all, in fact, the SV650 is an extremely coveted bike by all racers, from amateur to pro. Practically universally known as the ultimate starting/beater track bike. Glad to see Suzuki still competing well.

All these top vloggers highly rate this bike. Not a single bad review so far. It's not surprising seen as it has all the looks, price point, and perfect combination of street+track ready abilities and can easily be modded specifically for either or type of riding. It's going to be my first middleweight bike. It's the only one that I like the look of too. I commute daily weather permitted. Will retire my beginner bikes to start with the track until I find my next bike (either for track or commuting).

I really wanted to like this bike, but that handlebar setup is a deal breaker for me. It looks like Suzuki wanted to save money and reuse the triple tree from the GSX-8S. So instead of raised clip-ons, they just bolted the handlebars onto where the bar riser would be. I'm sticking with my beloved GSX-R750 😊

It's really quite similar to my '05 650cc Bandit, which has the same relaxed sport ergos, makes about 79 hp, and weighs about 480 lbs.

The yellow appeals to me both for reasons of visibility and aesthetics. Q: how much performance do you gain by "flashing" the computer system?

Check out TFT Industries. Some of the racers are getting 100hp. But remember track power is often not what you want on the street.

Great review as always. Thanks for that. I think I'm going to purchase the 8R. I'm getting rid of my Gen 1 1290 Superduke. That was a stupid purchase. Too big, too powerful, too fast. I'm too old and small to control it in the slightest. Anyway, I can't get past the looks of the MT09, so is there anything else I should seriously consider in the price range of the 8R?

68yo. Recently gave my Ducati Diavel to one of my boys and bought an 8R. For me it's a Goldilocks bike that I expect will see me out. Suzukis last well. Got the heated grips, USB and my pre-order deal included the saddlebags free. I'm happy.

As a rider getting older and getting more pings in places for no reason other than age, the comfort of the bike is what is really selling me on this.

So I've had mine a couple of weeks now. I really hope they expand this platfrom. Maybe a 650 and a 1000 version. The ergonomics are so good. That might be my favorite part.

Cool bike, helpful review, thanks. The yellow/black, really nice IMO. 12:17 A fully faired bike with aggressive looks, but fun and comfortable to ride on roads, like the Ninja 650 and 500. Agreed.

TST Industries seems to have taken these Suzuki 8Rs up a notch. I wonder after all the aftermarket add ons it will put the price in the RS660 range. Although Suzuki is known to run forever and Aprilia not so much. Maybe tailoring the 8R to the individual rider's needs with an aftermarket flash is the way to go.

I honestly love this bike and suzuki but I feel suzuki missed the mark by sticking a twin in this…I’ve been looking for a possible alternative to the MT09/Z900 because I would like a windscreen but this thing is really underpowered…hopefully they make a bigger version with the GSXR750 engine or something 😭

You need some time to know how to properly use the QS especially to shift down.. Read the manual.. There is specific speed & rpm to down shift smoothly.

Dude, is your QS mode even on? Quick shifting down is perfect all the way down into 1st. Quick shifting up without load is snatchy front 1st to 2nd, after that, it’s perfect. Was QS displayed on the dash? If it’s new, more than likely, it’s not on.

I just bought one of these, and felt that your video was great. I heard you say that you ordered an exhaust for the bike. What did you order? I want to get one as well, but don't want to have to tune it after. Also, any suggestions on seats? The stock seat is not very comfortable and hits some of the pressure points, but I want to be able to ride this thing for more than a half hour without pain

Looks like a nifty platform, but for the price, I’d have expected at least partially adjustable suspension, and a bit more HP. That being said however, I’m sure it will put a grin on more than a few faces.

Nice review. I bought one! If you, in the general sense, can get past your ego, it's all the road bike you need. It's a great all round package but I wouldn't personally be looking to go to the track on it any time soon. However, I don't intend to so not an issue for me personally. Only complaint as you say so far is rhe QS is a bit rough on downshift's but based on the other owners comments, it does loosen up & get better with use over time supposedly.
