A quick specs review and rundown about the PROS and CONS of the middleweight sport bike from Suzuki, the 2024 GSX-8R. A great entry-level sport motorcycle, designed with comfort in mind and a well-balanced parallel twin engine that suppresses motor vibrations felt in the hands while riding. It’s a sportbike with a slight touch of sport touring.
Feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and suggestions in the comments.

*For smiles and giggles, feel free to take a shot after every time I say “however” 😅 (just unpacked from a move so my “extensive” vocabulary seems to be lagging from the move) and that’s only half of it, I had to make so many extra cuts where I was able to remove that word, and it still appears an excessive amount of times. 😅😁

I purchased the blue 8R a couple weeks ago, and replaced that ridiculous tail fender and installed a Yoshimura flush fit one, and installed a full Akrapovic exhaust, new air filter, and waiting for the ecu to come back from being flashed by TST Industries. Bike rode great before! But nothing like getting some more power from it :) For over 20 years I’ve had multiple Honda CBRs, but now at 41, I wanted something easier on my wrist and lower back when riding more than a couple hours. I’m really happy with this bike :❤

yea stock tail ends are not always the most appealing. I definitely feel you on squeezing the most you can out of a bike for maximum enjoyment, gotta do what you gotta do. I'm a big fan of the CBRs, plan on getting another one, but I know it's tough on the wrist, but my love for them is like "ehh i can man up and take the pain" but then when I ride a comfortable bike that can be ridden all day comfortably, I get why people buy them instead. Personal ego is a big fight with that. Congrats on the purchase though, I'm glad to hear you like the 8R, I am really curious on taking one out for a long ride one day to feel the difference. Thanks for sharing your experience!!!

Believe me I get it!! When I was at the dealer and saw the new CBR 600, my brain was like get it! But my back and wrists were like nooooo! lol It’s a totally different ride experience! But my Pop finally got a bike again, so now riding comfortably but still having the sport bike feel, and being able to ride all day with him is totally worth the change :) I think 8R can totally deliver the same experience, but the stock bike won’t deliver. Spending more and more money on after market exhaust and parts I think will definitely get the bike experience to what I’m used to, but at this point I’m like damn! Trying to get the best of both worlds isn’t cheap. lol

Man, your input makes me consider. I mean the comfort is temping, it's a battle of the ego I just gotta over step. But I feel that, wanting to pull your bike to it's highest capabilities is almost like buying another bike on it's own. In the end, if you know you're gonna keep the bike around for a while, than I believe it's 100% worth it. Might as well have the most fun on it, if you have the means to make it happen. But the higher handlebar setup for comfort is slowly but surely whispering it's temptations to me. One of these days just gonna take a few out to test ride, maybe the test ride will seal the deal. 😅😅

Please respond to this comment when you get the ecu back, I also bought the blue one 2 weeks ago and I’m curious. I just hit 1000 miles so I’ve been beating on it and it’s got some serious power for what it is

I just saw the yellow 8R yesterday, smashing! I sold my Harley as it was too heavy for me at 76! This bike in yellow is a real head turner, can’t wait to get one, just checking on how painful the insurance will be!

Just bought this bike yesterday as my first bike in a very long time, I can't say I have the experience to worry about much of the cons but I'm glad to hear the list is short and stuff that doesn't really affect an average rider too much. Great overview though, thanks!

Great job of covering all the pro's, con's, and general character of the GSX 8R. I have an 8S and though I know this will vary depending on usage thought I'd share my fuel mileage experiences since they differ considerably from what was reported here. After a little over 1500mi. I've had one fill up @ 52mpg, one @ 60mpg, and all the rest in the 57mpg range. This has all been a mix of surface streets and highway (45-80 mph). Useless information for track riding but valuable for commuting/sport touring.

Love the video I have a 8r and love it but it is by far not my mt10 sp. Looks great and rides great but is far from perfect but the aftermarket seems to be coming along nicely from and integra5ed tail light to rear set risers. For just rideing or commuting its a great and fun bike. What bike do you currently ride
@MotoDasha
@MotoDasha 4 ай бұрын
thanks man!! It's always nice when aftermarket products catch up that way you can modify the bike just to your taste. I probably would buy a gsx-8r but I definitely would love to ride one, one day. I currently have a 2004 Harley 1200 Sportster, I plan on making a video about her within the next few days. And a Kawasaki Vulcan 750, that I plan on selling soon so I can buy a new bike. 😅😁

I’m having a hard time choosing between 8R, 8S, Hornet or spending a bit more on a GSX S1000. My only problem with the 8R and 8S is the low vibrating pegs. This may take the fun out of it, and irritate me. My downside of the Hornet is the apparent snatchy throttle, which will be a huge deal for me. GSX S1000 sounds perfect except I normally like lower more engaging cc bikes. Plus it costs more. I will ride them all before making a decision. For me it’s not which is the fastest, but the most fun but at the same time won’t irritate me with excessive annoyance. Resale value has to come in to it as well. I tend to only hold on to a bike for a 1 year or 2 at a time to keep it exciting.
@MotoDasha
@MotoDasha 3 ай бұрын
@florme6494 Sounds like you're thinking in the right direction, test riding them all before making a decision is always best. Sometimes an issue for some is not an issue for all, like the low vibrating pegs, maybe when you ride it, you won't notice or it won't feel as obvious to you as it was for some. Resale value is always a good thing to keep in mind if you already know you won't be planning on keeping the bike for long. Worst case scenario, at least you know you won't be keeping the bike long term, so even if you do get a bike that eventually might not be your cup of tea, you already know you're gonna resell it. But good on you for doing your research man!! Good luck on your purchase!

@@MotoDasha I have an 8S and will look at the 8R when they turn up. Prefer full fairing. The GSX S1000 is a great bike for the price, but realistically has more power than you will use. You can not ride fast enough to use the power, legally and probably safely. The 8S feels quicker than the spec sheet says with great torque. When you test ride up shift at 7,000-75,00 ratehr than rev it out if you are pushing on. It will surprise you.

an 800cc motor as first bike, well I am not the one to make the decision for you. It all depends on ones mental maturity and understanding the power the bike is capable of. That's better than buying a 1000cc as your first bike, something I am very against, but some folks start on 600 instead of 300 and do just fine, its just a little bit more "umph" to them. I wouldn't suggest it but to each their own. Try maybe going on a test ride to get a feel for it. But it is a lovely bike with a bite that is manageable. Personally, the gsx-8r has grown on me, so I can see why you'd want one. 😁😁

Well, the frequent references to track performance trying to evaluate it's focus I think highlight some misconceptions of the bike world that are hopefully becoming a thing of the past, especially after this bike hit the roads. Supersports are not sportsbikes, they are race bikes made barely road legal or simply track bikes, the GT3RSs of the bike world. People don't call them sportsbikes and there's a reason for that. This is your 911 Carrera, yes, sports. Some sports are more focused than others, like your Ferraris, but they're all sports and you choose based on your desires and pocket money. This feels like the CBR500Rs bigger brother, that one is the first to provide adequate all around performance in terms of power, city and highway, with the comfort to go with, but may left one wanting in terms of straightline speed and the GSX8R almost doubles the power while still remaining within sensible parameters for the majority of riders, all the while unleashing big bike torque everyone will be enjoying 99% of the time. Seems like they absolutely nailed it. I have nothing against riders who dream of Supersports be it 600cc or liter bikes, but the bike world desperately needed what Suzuki just put out, that is the vast majority of riders imo.
