• 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Ro...
This a review of the pros and cons of my new Tacoma after 1600 miles of ownership.
I didn't go back and edit it, so I'll say it now. Some times the words just don't come out right, so when I said the Hybrid motor was under the back seat on a Hybrid model, I was referring to the battery. I also made the comment about not being sure if the Tacoma was worth it, I was referring to the extra money for the Hybrid being worth it.
Thanks for watching, and please like and subscribe if you like the content.

The increase in price is because Toyota knows they will be performing a lot of warranty work on these trucks.

Looks way!!!!!!!!!! Better looking than the 3rd Gen slow poke snake Gen the 3rd Gen feels like it has a none turbo 4 cylinder but this new 2024 feels like a real V6 without throttle lag

I put 2 turbo charged leaf blowers on the front bumper to blow the rocks away, I have a generator in the bed to power it. Because I really don't like all the paint chips.

did about 35 miles, mostly highway avg 70-75mph and pulled into my driveway with 26.9mpg. (stock tires '24 TRD Off-Road). Temps were around 65 to 70 degrees, elevation 1700-2000ft above sea level, and I was not being light footed either as I was trying to hear the turbo spool up when accelerating. I also was in normal mode, not eco or sport.

I was on vacation in 2016 and my 2016 TRD Long bed OR got 26 MPG in Florida at 70 mph with ac on and the windows up (obviously near seal level). I was on factory tires, no bed cover and vacation equipment in the bed. I averaged 20 MPG on that trip from Ohio to Florida and back. The mountains lowered my MPG.

@@timalan7406 did about 320 miles this weekend on a road trip to the overlanding expo, went from Phoenix to Flagstaff (1000ft to 6800ft) and got an avg mpg of 23 with avg speed of 75-80 (speed limit on the 17 is mostly 75 with some sections dropping to 60 for the hill curves). Mpg was 20.9 up and 25 down giving me the 23 avg.

My cons. 1: Turning Radius 2: No Grab Handles on the Driver Side 3: To much hard plastic on the door panels and dashboard. Other than that, it's a Premium Truck optioned out. 100% improvement from previous generations. I had a 2006 Tacoma and 1998 4Runner before. My friends have Gen 3 Tacoma's and wish they can get it.

Do you mean the trd off-road trim vs sr5 trim, the tires could be a different mpg.?

No, if someone were to install a larger tire, it change your fuel economy that you see on the dash.

Bought a Sport in Underground, running Falken AT4w 285-65-18. Had a 21 trd off road, this new 24 is a definite upgrade in power, handling, comfort and appearance. Anyone who hasn't taken a test drive owes it to themselves to do so. 24 handles more like my 19 Tundra than a Tacoma.

@@timalan7406 I would say all of the prices on vehicles have gotten crazy, but to answer your question, if you were to look at and drive a new 2023 model, and then look at and drive a new 2024, the answer would be yes for me. When you start taking in to consideration how the new Tacoma drives and handles, the new technology that you get, and the performance of the 4 cylinder turbo with the 8spd transmission, you can definitely see the added value.

@@Rodneysnwridesandreviews I drove my 2016 for 8 years and traded it on a 2024 4Runner. For the 2024 Tacoma, the engine is not new, the transmission is not new the technology is not new- even the suspension is not new. All of these things were already on other Toyota cars and trucks (some for many years), Toyota simply went to the parts bin and placed them on the Tacoma. It did not add $10,000 in value to the truck. I don't care how good it rides over the previous generations. It's might be worth $2,200-$2,500 more; the standard vehicle increase with an all new model. If it came with a 3.0 L diesel engine and a 2500 lb. payload with 8,000 lbs. towing and got 36 MPG- that is value added. The 4Runner is another example- all Toyota needs to do is add the 8 speed transmission to the current 4Runner. But no, they will add all the junk from the parts bin to the 4Runner, bend the sheet metal slightly differently and claim its better and increase the price $8000.

Only a 18.2 gas tank vs 3rd gen has a 21.1 gallons. NO hood shock struts, my 2091 Toyota Camry had shock hooded struts…the Tacoma is over price..

If you want to place a cover over the bed or put a cap over the bed, why not just buy a 4Runner? Evey time I see a Tacoma with a cap or cover on its bed, go by, I say, look kids, there goes a 4Runner.

Since I ride dirt bikes, I haul oil, tools, dirty boots, a spare tire for the trailer, a loading ramp, and anything else I decide to take with me. I don’t want all of that smelling up the cab.

Primarily, nobody wants to fold their second row seats to uncover a carpeted 6ft bed nor wants to haul a trailer for their dirty jobs. Taco gets it done, every time.

To each their own I think these new Tacoma's got the ugliest inside & out & having a 4cylinder & putting bigger tires on these poorly designed trucks is ridiculous causing more bogging going up hills & burning more gas, 4 cylinders can't handle the weight of any truck it's a joke what Toyota did & the nerve they charge over 45K plus on these horrible designed trucks is completely outrageous & are no pros to these garbage cans...

Gotta love the guys who don’t know anything about engines. Turbos don’t go out at 60k miles.. the rotating assembly is probably stronger than the v6 of the past. It’s not going to break just because it’s boosted.. other manufacturers have been doing this for 30 years lol Hell my stock bottom end only 2020 gt500 that was making over 700hp stock is not just over 1100hp and I drive it all the time. Still drives like stock until I stand on the gas. If Toyota has any first year kinks to work out they will and it’ll be fine. Quit panicking everyone. Hahaha
