Hank Williams looked like an "old man" due to his spinal problems, pain, illness, emotional problems with his mother and Audrey, drug and alcohol addictions. All this makes a person age very quickly! Despite his popular songwriting and successful career, I am always amazed that so many other musicians wanted to emulate him when he died so tragically and so young.

I am glad that Jett Williams knew that her father, Hank Williams Sr, did care about her and "wanted this baby and accepted full responsibility for her." The way Hank Williams treated her, his half sister, was heartbreaking and wrong. Good for her for finding success on her own and being able to accept the mistreatment by her half-brother who really had more than enough millions that he could have graciously shared the inheritance and had more "family" to boot. Money can't buy everything.

That was when Hank III still dressed like him, white cowboy suit & white cowboy hat & he sounded exactly like Hank Sr. Jett looks a lot like him & sings good too. She's usually at the festival every year. Hank Jr. Has never been there nor will he. I hate Hank III turned out the way he has. He got tired of trying to be his grandaddy. The autopsy report says there was only a 'trace' amount of alcohol found in HW's system. So, this is false reporting, he did not die of over drinking alcohol. He died of respiratory failure and a blocked ventricle due to morphine, heroin, and Chloral hydrate, a sedative, also called a hypnotic. Chloral hydrate slows the activity of your central nervous system. This medicine has both fast-acting and long-lasting sedative effects. The autopsy also stated that HW had been beaten very recently. He had evidence of being kicked in the groin, a cracked rib and bruises all about the body, a huge welt protruding from his head, a few lacerations and a very recently bandaged hand. No explanation has ever been given for why he was beaten or when or by whom. He was born with Spina Bifida, a very painful spine condition. He was also an alcoholic from age 11. His father had PTSD, which they called shell-shock back then, and was confined to a V.A. Hospital after WWI. I'd like to know why no one talks about Charles Carr getting a speeding ticket that night and that he also appeared in front of a judge and paid that ticket. Who else saw Charles Carr that night? And what about the supposed hitch hiker Charles Carr said he picked up? He was said (by Carr) to be a soldier. What happened to him? Why was he never found? Why was there no investigation into HW's death? Beaten about the head, injected with morphine, unconscious when put into the car, driven to the next gig in an ice storm? What happened to his hat? It was said he only had a t-shirt on when he was taken from the car. Where was his shirt? Something is just not right about this whole thing.

Sometimes his voice has a beautiful quality (when he is yodeling) and others he seems almost like he is talking more than singing ....just storytelling. The combination is different. BUT even when he is vocalizing plainly he has a rich quality/tone to his voice. That is what his wife was lacking. I Think she was on the tune but she was almost shrill. Must have been stretching to hit those notes. HE did not have to do that. I guess today they would say she was pitchy. Sad to think a few voice lessons could have fulfilled her ambitions too.

I saw Tony Bennet 12 years ago...is he still kicking? If so, he's probably performing with a Hearse in tow as part of his contract...Maybe he & George Burns had a bet on who would live the longest...Winner take ALL? And check this out In 1976/77 I saw Hank Jr in Lexington KY at the Continental Inn for a small show...500 seats and not all were filled. We had a round table reserved just 10-12' from him as he sat there on the stage just to the right of center... There was a stool with a big bottle of Jim Beam sitting on it...and his telecaster off to the side. When it was time, he walked out carrying his acoustic. guitar and sat down and played most of the songs from the not yet released Album "The Pressure's On" MAN!!! WHAT A SHOW! He would sing a song or two, pour a double shot and gulp it down w/no chaser and then sing a couple more...After a while he was slumped down in the chair, leaning over & propping. himself up on the acoustic guitar..like I've done many times myself....this is where it all came together... Hand but in a little deeper voice... Best Show I've ever see,. Took 3 really great photos with a "Kodak Instamatic" camera of all things...It was all I had at the time... When it was over, I stepped up on the stage and found a pick he had dropped... Best $10 show EVER... Outside his bus had the graphics of the Pressure's On album cover running all down both sides... I had never seen anything like that in 76/77.... I still have the photos, pick & ticket stubs....and memories of what a real Country Music Rock & Roll Hillbilly Rock Star looked & acted like back then... They broke the mold after Hank Jr, Waylon Jennings, George Jones & Johnny Cash came in off the road for good! "Corn bread & Ice Tea took the place of pills & 90 proof...........Willie & Trigger are still out there doing shows...Won't be long now?
