2024 Toyota 4Runner Not Selling even at MSRP!

Two for one in this video, we have two Trd pro four runners 2024s one in the terra color and the other one in underground. This dealership isn’t doing any mark ups, and they said this would be at MSRP I would still try to negotiate. These are beautiful trucks I absolutely love the forerunner is the last of a dying breed of a dead breed because they know more like this the last year you can get a V6 in the forerunner, terrible gas mileage, but it is one of the best SUVs in my opinion at least with a V6 But a lot of people feel like this price is outrageous, but you get what you pay for.

The MSRP trick Toyota is using is "Port installed options". They're including extra accessories added at the reception port for the vehicle and adding it to the MSRP with no need for an Adendum sticker. Its a sneaky way of doing a markup without admitting to it.

The most egregious example of this is the addition of TRD wheels for $1,700. The Off Road comes with $1,600 wheels, so your paying $3,300 for 1 set of wheels. Stupid stupid stupid!! And these are installed on 80% of the 4Runners. I refuse to pay for 2 sets of wheels even at $3,200 below MSRP.

The port installed options are not Toyota, but the distributor in that particular region. The southeast region distributor is notorious for adding on non negotiable products.

When I bought my new 22 TACOMA, the predator tube steps came off, took five mins. They just get in the way. Truck looks cleaner without them. Still storing them , maybe I'll put them back on someday people thought they looked good on my black Tacoma. I like the clean cut less clutterd look. I picked up a 2023 4Runner TRD OR last January for 43,600. They are 10k over that now for the same exact mechanicals/features. We looked at all the offerings, and with all overcomplicated tech that manufacturers are loading into the current models, it was an easy decision to pick the 4Runner. The engine/Trans will go 300k no problem, and you don't have to worry about valve deposits, collapsed lifters, oil pump failures, or the thing leaving you stranded.

Happy New Year’s Eve Kenny! Nice! I really do like the Forerunner! The SofTex seats are nice to have! They are definitely pricey as you said. I do like both the Terra color and the new Underground gray color. I would probably choose the Underground gray myself unless they had a darker Blue color which has always been my personal preference. I’m not always that picky though. It was nice they had the one on the rail stand so a person can see the underneath! I know personally I wouldn’t do any off-roading, so I would probably opt for a highway type tread on the tires. I’m skeptical about the next generation if Toyota adds the 2.4 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine! I know some turbocharged engines can take the stress and some don’t do as well! In Canada, we can’t even buy these things. The dealers never have them if you had 1000 of them available in Canada you would sell them all in one minute all that sticker or more. It’s bizarre US gets all the forerunners or Toyotas Canada gets none I’d buy one in a minute if I can get one available, buyers are very lucky in the US in Canada. We don’t have that opportunity to buy these at all. If you think these prices are expensive in the states and off-road starts here at 62k not including tax it could run you almost 70,000 but they sell all the time here we just don’t have any. I’ve tried to be on a waiting list. It’s been over a year and a half. I would love to get them for the price that you guys get them for.

I know you mentioned that people don’t buy the 4Runner’s for the MPG’s, but the official 17 combined MPG rating is probably the main reason 4Runners are abundant nationwide and the same for the 2023 GX 460, even though it’s the last model years with the ultra-reliable Toyota V6 and V8 engines. The main reason I picked my 2022 Rav4 Prime over the 4Runner TRD Pro/GX 460 was because of the nearly 40 mpg hybrid rating and the 42+ all electric miles. I disliked having to make a weekly trip to a gas station in my 5.7 V8 Tundra and shell out over $50 a fill-up. I loved the frames on both the 4Runner and the GX 460 over the Rav4 Prime, but having to make just one monthly trip to the gas station is great. Toyota hybrid SUV’s are still some of the hardest vehicles to find on the market and for good reason.

Too bad we can't get the Prado with the D4D diesel instead of the GX. Just saying. Rav and the CRV are rough riding little SUV's. Don't like them regardless of the MPG's. I'll stick to my X3 BMW with decent AWD with real 8 speed ZF trans. Only get 25 MPG's but its rides like a Lincoln and hauls ass. But I got my eyes on a nice 1998 Prado with 30K miles with the D4D. A real Mint JDM.

Everything I have seen on the new motor, people don’t want the new motor, which I agree, I don’t want more moving parts, though I would have liked a 7 or higher speed transmission over the years. Almost got a manual taco just to have more control and less downshifting.

You bought a base model 2wd and it was 6 years ago. Look at inflationary prices of everything over the last 6 years. Additionally, a loaded Limited 4Runner in 2024 is completely different than your 2018 2wd base model. And a 2024 Limited or TRD Pro aren’t $50k fully equipped. They are closer to $60k now.

I can just imagine putting a small foam mattress in here, a sleeping bag, a cooler to store water, a large box to store canned food, a small portable stove, a high capacity battery charger, and a large first aid kit. I love the TRD Pro, but I just bought a 2024 4Runner TRD OFF ROAD PREMIUM for $4k off the MSRP. Plus, 4.99% for 60 months. On top of that, Toyota is giving you a 2 year or 24 month maintenance plan for FREE. So for $13k less than this one is selling for, you get basically the same truck minus the upgraded suspension and wheelset. I think that it's a much better deal.

The problem is that with the GX 460 V8, it’s not only a worse gas hog than the V6 (premium fuel required $$$), but it’s not that much quicker than the V6. I don’t mind shelling out $$$ for extra performance, but the performance of the V8 compared to the V6 is almost the same. I would go with the V6 in this case.

One problem is that you went to the salem dealership and the prices there are very high. When I bought mine I fell in love with one in salem but they wouldnt budge on the price. I went to Wilsonville and got the same 4 runner for almost 5 grand less. I just had to wait a day for delivery. Now as for the bells and whistles, When I am crossing over the mountains in a blizzard, i just want a vehicle that will get me where I am going and back home again without any hassle. The 4runner is that vehicle. Bragging about bells and whistles in the parking lot doesnt help when you are 30 miles from a paved road and in snow or mud. Lastly, I dont care about the gas milage. I care about low maintenance and after 340K of rough use and abuse, my 4 runner has only seen the shop once for a non scheduled maintenance visit. I dont want fancy. I want what works.

Bought a 2024 4Runner 2x4 Limited 2 days ago for $49,000. Tax, Tag, and Title $53,000. Dealer couldn't sell them at these interest rates. Car was on the lot over 60 days so the dealer purchased several from Toyota and had to floor plan them himself. Bad juju for the dealer. Paid cash. Finance guy said they lost money on the trade. Probably not, but they didn't make their usual margin. He told me interest rates are killing their sales. The automotive cycle is turning downward. More pain ahead as I don't think interest rates are going down. $10,000 cheaper than the Ford Explorer. I think this is because it is made in Japan and the Yen is weak against the dollar recently.

BTW,, no dealer perks were included, no oil changes, no tire rotations, etc. Car has 3rd row seats.

People are waiting on the new redesign 4 runner to come out. Keep in mind the redesign was due to hit the market in 2022,we are now looking at 2025. The current design would be 16 years old. And the price point for the same old design😢 went from $41,000 in the year 2010 to now $58,000 in 2024. It’s time to bring this amazing ride to current times with a new design.

If you like the new Tacoma (2.4L turbo), you might like the Gen 6 4Runner because they’re going to share a lot in design and powertrain. Not for me.

I think with the Land Cruiser falling back into midsize SUV territory with the 4runner, The 6th gen will be a more affordable 4runner than the 5th. The Land Cruiser will be in the mid 50s starting. So maybe the 4runner will fill the price range under there.

With newer vehicles getting faster and faster, whether through turbo's or EV's, my question to newer 4Runner owners is, "Do you find the acceleration (say, from a dead stop, like a traffic light) to be troublesome?" In other words, "Does it seem like the vehicles behind you are itching to get around you, or has it not really been an issue?" I keep telling myself to test drive a 4Runner, but my 12 year old Pathfinder runs like it's brand new.

They do not accelerate fast at all really. 7 secs to 60 but the truck is not built to be a speedy vehicle. It’s a 5 speed. Love mine!

I have a Tesla Plaid and my father has a 4Runner TRD Pro. You would think coming out of the Plaid that the 4Runner would be horrid but no. I LOVE driving that truck. It is comfy, does what I need and just a joy to drive. The only gripe I have is the drone from the TRD exhaust which I'm not a fan of.

Buy any used 4Runner with a rear locker for 20k and you just saved $40k you can then use for upgrades and gas. 60k for a 15 y/o vehicle in WILD!

These look nice, but it has SO much stuff that just doesn’t make sense. This large vehicle should be using a V8, preferably the 4.6L V8, but properly turned to its displacement to more than 400hp and more than 400 torque. Give it a solid 6spd transmission. This is a truck through and through. And should be powered and treated as such. It’s an off-roader, treat it and build it as such

I doubt the new landcruiser will be thay cheap. The new tacoma pricing just came out. A limited tacoma is 55k and a decent packaged offroad is 50k. There is no word on the hybrid yet but i'm guessing 65k for trd pro.
