Loved the donut at the start :) Put a smile on my face and I'm not even in the car! I took one of these for a test drive and loved every minute of it. Would highly recommend this car. It had the best, smoothest manual transmission I've ever used. I have a Hyundai i20N which I love but the Corolla is next level. Another excellent review Brett. You're a natural.

@daveothegreat9990 almost every time I’ve tested it. It’s very very consistent. But who cares. That’s the thing with these types of cars…people get fixated on the numbers and the 0-100 times. Why cares? It’s all about how these cars make you feel when you drive them, the rush of the turbo and the feedback you get and feel. I couldn’t care less if my i30N goes 0-100 in 5 or 7 seconds. Besides nobody, not me or you or anyone else could feel any difference between a few tenths in acceleration anyway. Not without a stopwatch. So who cares? I’m telling you now if you actually got behind the wheel and drove a GR Corolla you wouldn’t be on here saying it’s slow. You just watch a review and see 5.5 seconds and think that’s slow. Who cares? Go drive one, it ain’t slow! VB WRX is an excellent example of this…

@sayedengine and 13.1 I doubt it was totally stock to maybe intake and exhaust stickier tyres. This guy did a review on the i30n sedan (Elantra n) like for like conditions and same driver which is the 2 main factors the corolla was 13.6 the Elantra was 14.02 with launch control and dct and 0-100 GR was 5.47 Elantra was 6 all factors equal so just because you have managed to squeeze a 13.1 1/4 time doesn't mean every one can in every situation but hey congrats on that that's pretty quick for a factory tuned FWD car I only managed a 13.3 in my modified ae102 major traction issues my trap speed was 108.8 mph that speed should have got me a high 12 but yeah no excuses

The main performance figure to look at to determine which car is quicker is 60-110km/h So an i30 N would whip this from a roll, off the mark/launch to the 1/4 mile yes this would take it easily with its AWD advantage.

After all the hype I decided to take this car for a test drive and that 3 cyl, what a disappointment. It feels dead below 5000 rpm. From a standing start you need to rev it right up otherwise you stall. Apart from that there was a annoying vibration from the rear hatch area. Yeah it handles and grips well but what's the point when the engine is a dud. Cannot understand why people love these cars 😒
@motoringfan

I’ve got the GR Yaris which has the same motor. Engine is designed to be high up (Motorsport feel). Not designed for road use. First 2 gears limit torque too for protection. Overall it’s a high speed rally car design and less something for the roads. Being a homologation rally car awd and engine means it will always be respected

@robincollis6349 11 күн бұрын
I have a gr corolla and a turbocharged 4age (the 1.6 4 cylinder from the 80/90's) both have 300hp believe it or not the gt feels slow because of how linear the torque curve is the 4age while it is a more responsive setup (starts making boost at 1500) it really hits you in the pants over 4000rpm so yeah it's quick it just doesn't feel like it due to the torque delivery and probably driver adds to
