Every time I see a mid trim Tacoma review, I decide it’s best to try to find a ranger raptor at msrp.

I thought i finally decided on a Tacoma today, after test driving one, then i see this and the price, makes me realize how overpriced they are. The pro should be 55k not 65k. This premium TRD should be top 48k, and for that price should have at least metal skid plates, not garbage plastic and actual offroad tires. People will keep buying these for looks and to just drive around town, and Toyota will keep jacking up the price to fill their greedy pockets. I need to go test drive a ZR2 and see if it fills this 4x4 wish. At least for 48k, i get tires, skid plates and rock rails, 48k for a tacoma gets you a fancy decal on the side.

I had 2 and 3rd generation tacomas I had my 3rd generation tacoma for almost 7 years now I have a tacoma TRD off-road I've had it for about 3 months it is the best tacoma yet it just seems a lot more solid and that 4 cylinder turbo engine is always just running at a very low rpm where the 3.5 V-6 was always running at a very high rpm with no power or torque and transmission never could find the right gear the new 8 speed transmission is so smooth the best transmission I have ever drove

Great review. Will hold off purchasing until I get to a chance to evaluate the all new 2025 4Runner that's coming this fall. There are also rumors of a mini-Land Cruiser coming out next winter priced in the 35-40K range.

Just picked one up. Not premium but have rear locked and sway bar disconnect. I love the truck, engine is peppy and the tranny is great. My gripe is the stock tires are not great and the kid plate is flimsy.

Nice review Sam. What happened to testing on Butcher hill for a proper demonstration. I hope to see more testing of the Tacoma, there have been other trucks tested with driveline failures. I have been looking forward to the move away from the V6 engines. Bound to issues on any new model.

"Butcher Hill" (outside Phoenix) is a difficult video shoot when it's 110 degrees, not so much on the truck but the host and cameras. Plus we like to have an extra $1000 laying around in case we have to be towed out after an hour walk in the sun to get to cell service. ;)

Nice review Sam. It is indeed too expensive. Almost the price of a Tundra 1794 edition which is miles better. Tundra limited can be had for similar price too. Why are midsize trucks getting this expensive. Chevy Colorado/GMC canyon seem to be better bargain.
@amggeniuses4575Ай бұрын
Same price as a 1794 Tundra? It’s about $20,000 less. This new Tacoma is comparably priced to a Tundra SR5 TRD Sport.
@rickthomas422Ай бұрын
I own this truck and paid 44k after taxes... You can't get a 1794 for anywhere near that.

@@amggeniuses4575 talking about the specific trim in the review video. It's close to 1794 edition price

@@yohazem1Here in Canada the Tundra 1794 is $20K more than this TRD Off-road Premium. Not even remotely close in price!

Entirely too many negatives with this new generation Tacoma, no sugar coating it. This comes from someone who's had a Lexus, another Toyota and still has a Sienna in the garage. Not to mention the durability issues they're having on this new platform and drivetrain.
@jmpattilloАй бұрын
Those issues are one report of a broken front end, and some bad manual transmissions. The vast majority are completely satisfied.

What are you talking about? I sure hope your info comes from more than a few click baiting KZbinrs..
@IamGroot786Ай бұрын
@@AlexLepoutre No matter what video you click on, it won't change the facts. The room in the back seat absolutely sucks, no vents back there at this price range, the folding of the rear seat with a little belt is cheap and the MPGs rendered by that turbo charged inline-4 leave much to be desired. Oh, almost forgot... How about the over pricing?!

@@IamGroot786 The facts: With the $3,000-$5,000 discounts some dealers are offering on the '24 Tacomas, they are nearly the same cost as the 3rd gen. No midsize truck has a roomy rear seat, nor did the 3rd gen Tacoma. Lots of road testers are reporting 24-26 MPG on the highway which is excellent for a 4,000 pound truck capable of doing 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds.

a "temporary spare" on a high dollar off-road truck? Are you crazy?
@lc719226 күн бұрын
Also the Tacoma is a five seat vehicle with a rear center seat having its own head rest and belts. The other midsized trucks (Nissan comes to mind) don’t have headrests or belts for that rear center area.

Did you know that there are air vents under the seats in the 3rd Gen Tacomas that direct cooled or heated air into the rear seat area? While I have been in the 2024 Tacomas I have not looked but I’m betting they too have these air vents.
