Why use a Frontier that's more of a base model than a model more optioned out? For example. Truck beds. The Tacoma has a plastic bed. Yeah, plastic. The Frontier also comes with a spray on bed liner and Nissan's track system, which is excellent. Steering? Nissan stayed with the traditional hydraulic steering, which gives the driver a better, more realistic steering feel between the steering wheel and front wheels. The Tacoma uses electric steering which is very light. The driver doesn't have the same feel between the steering wheel and front wheels as with traditional hydraulic steering. Nothing show stopping for either system. For me personally, two show stoppers for the Tacoma. 1) the 4-banger on steroids (turbo) and the Tesla like interior with the 'iPad' sticking up out of the dash. No thanks. Nissan's truck is more traditional in many respects and will appeal more to the traditional truck buyer looking in the midsized segment.
@BrosFOURRSpeed8 ай бұрын
This video shows the Pro4X vs TRD Sport. Very comparable trims. The Pro4X is literally the top of the line for the Frontier and very on par in price to the TRD Sport. Also it's hard to be picky with which trucks to use. These were the only ones on the lots. The fact that I even had a chance to film a PRo4X with a new Tacoma is hard to even do. I do prefer the hydraulic steering, but it's just very heavy in slow speeds on the Nissan. Makes it a bit annoying off road. Both have good things to offer and the Nissan is more simple. Tacoma is more modern. So both will appeal to different buyers.

Test drove the Pro-4X. Didn’t care for the extremely heavy steering, the small digital screen in the instrument cluster was very dim also and hard to see in direct sunlight even with brightness turned all the way up. The technology also seems very old and outdated. The only pro in my personal opinion is the naturally aspirated v6. I have a 24 TRD OR on order. Toyota looks way more updated, i’ve owned the corolla in the past and the Toyota just looks way better. The Nissan drivers in the comments are trying too hard man... reliability it's the Tacoma and it's not even close... Resale is not even in the same universe. The only place the Nissan wins is price and that's because they lose all value once rolled off the lot. I'm taking a Colorado and maybe even a Ranger over the Nissan. I guess congratulations even being compared to a Tacoma but the Tacoma will always be king of the midsize unless Toyota decides to ruin their brand and stop making reliable vehicles for some odd reason. I drive a 2023 Tundra SR, in my experience (previously owned a 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro) Toyota's dependability and quality are long gone - From an off road POV The Nissan is more functional with the tow hook locations and proper skid plates, the new Tacoma (at least on the TRD Off Road) they seem to skimp out on armor and poor tow hook location and size. I do not like the interior on the new Tacoma, its not intuitive for the instrumentation and the center console looks cheap IMO, If you're sticking with Toyota, move up to the Tundra, you get a Twin Turbo V6, much more useful interior and better carrying capacity for not too much more (if any at all)
@BrosFOURRSpeed8 ай бұрын
The Nissan also sits so much lower, so it's not ideal for offroading stock for stock with the Tacoma. But I would disagree that Toyota dependability and reliability are gone, far from it.. I have zero need for a fullsize, as there are a lot of others who wouldn't want a full size either, so that's a personal preference!
