This is the newly refreshed Toyota Tundra which packs serious luxury, a great ride packed full features and that Toyota name plate behind it. This truck is nearing the top of the Toyota line up in an epic Special Edition Trim Level.
A large truck requires a large power plant and the tundra doesn't disappoint. The new 3.4 liter iForce Max Hybrid V6 pushes out 437 HP and 589 lb-ft torque propelling this big Truck with ease. The Hybrid system does wonders on fuel economy, boasting good MPG, 21 city / 24 hwy 22 combined.
In a jam packed sea of 1/2 ton pickups, this Tundra boasts good towing capability (11,000 lbs), easy to use 4wd controls and a spacious interior making for an excellent family hauler with a large 51/2 foot bed for maximum practicality. A lack of rear bed storage compartments is a miss on Toyota's part, synonymous with the Tacomas, which leaves you having to find your own place to put straps, bungie cords and work gloves. A second disappointment comes from lack of underseat storage in the second row, which in the location of the hybrid systems battery pack, which again leaves you having to find additional storage on your own.
Fantastic tech and lots of it is found within the Tundra. A large infotainment screen paired up to the Digital instrument cluster really propelled the Tundra forward into the modern age compared to it's previous generations. Physical controls for the most important items make for a very simple to use interior that everybody wants. Cool features like a heads up display and the rear facing camera/mirror set up paired up to an impressive 360 Degree camera system with all the normal safety features are a welcome site that assist in making driving this fairly large vehicle seem easy.
The large panoramic moonroof that opens is a wonderful feature that makes the interior spacious and open.Interior comfort is a 10/10 with massive rear seats, very comfortable seats, large rear leg room and the materials in this 1794 Special edition. Absolutely beautiful leather on the seats, hand grips, dash and center console really make this one of the nicest trucks you can set foot into. Toyota also didn't forget the Tundra's Signature roll down window in the rear that allows for a convertible like feeling in a big ol truck.
This Tundra should absolutely be on the list of pickup trucks to look at when cross shopping competitors like the Dodge Ram, Ford F150, Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra.
