2024 TRD Pro 4 Runner

For the last few years, 4runner fans have expected the Iconic fifth gen Toyota would come to an end. Is 2024 going to be that year?

Nice looking rig! Just bought a '24 OR (Underground color) with some TRD upgrades (wheels, lift, etc.). Put a full length Prinsu rack on it. It looks amazing.

There is NOT an actuator for the differential. It is a true manual…if you go under your truck and look at the rear of the tranny, you’ll see a spot for the actuator for the other trims. Also,.if you force it, you’ll grind the gears. Ask me how i know…..enjoy your beast!

Thank you. I'll have to grind my gears 😁 that was what I thought but had someone tell me it was electronic, but imagine they didn't have a pro or off-road premium. Actually had to have one of the electronic ones replaced on a 2018 Tacoma, so manual would 0:06 be much better. That's one thing I really dislike about the Tacomas. Sometimes they are a pain to get in and out of 4x4.

I got the last 1998 Dodge Ram with the 12 valve. I’ve owned a Tacoma and 2 Tundras one being the Rock Warrior. I’m getting this 4 runner in Underground color. Gen 5!

I’m on the fence about buying the 4Runner. I’ve owed several Tacoma’s but the seating position killed my legs. Is the 4Runner better in that department in your opinion? Thanks

The seats are definitely more comfortable in the 4runner. Agree 100% that Tacomas are hard on the back and legs. I've owned several of each. As much as I love Tacomas the drivers seat is definitely not very comfortable.

I rented one last weekend to see if I could live with the floaty boat ride and bad gas mileage. The power driver seat can be raised and the passenger seat seemed fine to me. Yeah the on road ride and handling sucks but you forget about that on a rough old dirt road where this vehicle really shines. We did get 20.5 calculated mpg over 350 miles of mixed driving. We have a TRD Pro in Terra on the way.

I have an Inferno 2016 TRD ORDCLB Tacoma and a Solar Octane 2024 4Runner ORP. I get board with colors quickly, but I love that Inferno as much today as I did 9 years ago, and people still go out of their way to ask about the color and take pictures of my truck (it's kind of strange).

Just curious how you’re liking the exhaust set up on your pro. I’ve heard mixed reviews on it. We’re getting a 24 Pro in Terra just like yours but haven’t seen it/ test driven it so we don’t know how it compares to a TRD Off Road. Thanks!

It's definitely different. I really like it around town-it's a little whiny on the interstate, but not horrible.

Not a rumor. Last year. Do a search OP they've actually released the new 4Runner. I may be getting one. Your trim and color. Similar age. Last cash grab from Toyota from the folks that grew up with the brand. Agreed. Roof rack not practical. It's just a status symbol that you have a TRD Pro. Enjoy your 4Runner. You need to do the LED interior upgrade. And an all weather mat for the back.

Good video. I love your Pro but couldn't find one in Underground. I bought a 24 TRD ORP a month ago, in Underground, which is a great color. I live in the southeast. There is plenty of capability in the ORP for places I will go hiking, hunting, camping, etc.. Mine came stock with the TRD Pro Wheels and Tires. I put a leveling kit on it to bring the front up slightly. I upgraded the stereo to Alpine components, DSP, and 6 channel amp. Sounds way better than the JBL system in the Pro. Differences from the Pro? Simple Manual single zone HVAC and controls. No TRD roof rack, Standard suspension that rides great and has given me no problems off road (North Carolina and Tennessee) so far. Did not come with the predator step bars (which hang down, catch rocks, and terrible for real off road use). I have cali raised rocks sliders now. I will put a rack on later. Most of these would need to be done to the Pro also. Many will put a full sized roof rack, replace the so called "premium" JBL sound system and outdated head unit anyway. A few minor other differences, no front camera, no auto on/off lights. So very minor differences from the PRO. The PRO does have the best resale of them all. However, the ORP is right behind it. The cameras on the stock ORP and the Pro are terrible as is the head unit on both. My Alpine can be mated to much better cameras. I saved about $11000 over the Pro, I also got a discount on the ORP of about 1500. So, all the changes to my ORP including stereo, step bars and leveling kit were about 4500. Perfect for me. Those items would have also been needed on the Pro.

You saved 11K over the pro with an ORP? lol are you comparing to a Pro with a markup? Because if you compare both at MSRP at any dealership the Pro is only like 3-4K more. WAY more worth it imo to go with the Pro and all the stuff it has over the ORP for just a few grand more. I was lucky to snag a 2024 TRD Pro in Underground at MSRP for about 56K. It comes in next week and I’m stoked. Hope you enjoy yours.
