22:30 exactly why the Triumph Scrambler was made. Mad respect for Zack going through that mud lake and never putting his foot down once. I have never seen any reviewer take a brand new bike through something like that and do it that well. Kudos to Zack and Kudos to all those workers who made the Triumph Scramber he rode through that absolute mess. I figured out what drew me to the style of this bike so much. The whole bike looks great but that round part of the stainless exhaust shield in the back. That's the number plate. But's been expertly melded into the style of the bike. It does'nt overtly stand out. This whole bike just looks great. BMW figured the styling aspect out, about a decade ago and it's great to see other manufacturers , like Triumph here, seeing, that we have to actually like... to look at our purchases. This bike just puts a smile on my face everytime I look at it.

Worth noting Zach, and to anybody that may be in the market soon, go out and find a '23 model. The "X" got downgraded like crazy when compared to last year's "XC" model. Including the downgrade from Showa front forks and Ohlins rear, full adjustable suspension, the Brembo brakes are gone, the TFT got ditched, there's a lot less aluminum used in the body panels, and the fuel tank got smaller. That's just to name a few, pretty harsh compared to last year, the only benefit was lowering the seat height a bit more for accessibility.
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff9 ай бұрын
In its defense it also comes with a lower price and they added the 6-Axis IMU which wasn't on the old XC.
@disekjoumoer9 ай бұрын
Yup, spot on. I think Triumph perhaps weren't selling enough XCs, so decided to lower the price and the quality of the components. Realistically, for the type of person who rides this type of bike, it probably doesn't matter all that much. The high exhaust is much more of a problem anyway, and the Zard lowered exhaust is pretty expensive.
@logangodofcandy9 ай бұрын
The X is a road bike. Paves or unpaved, but a road bike specifically. If you want an all road scrambler, get the 21-23 models, the second generation of these bikes. These new gen 3 are plain inferior.
@16MrFred9 ай бұрын
It's worth noting sure. The X and XC are road oriented and you sure don't need the IMU. I'd also like to point out the price went down about 1500, and you easily lost 2-3k or more in component quality with the downgrades. Cruise control was standard on both, no reason to remove it, other than just trying to upsell people to the XE. In value proposition I think Triumph did a massive disservice to the road going 1200 this model year.@@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff

I have a 2023 XE and am nearly the same build as Zach, 6’3 and 185lbs. I don’t have the same issues he does with the seat, maybe the 2023 has more robust padding? But I will agree with his highway commentary… the wind blast at anything over 70mph is pretty rough especially if you’re wearing a helmet with a visor like I do. The motor is amazing, it sounds great and has awesome low end torque for off-road and around the town riding. I commute on mine, take it on gravel/double track paths and love hitting the twisties. While the 21in wheel doesn’t change direction as quickly as a smaller wheel, it’s super stable mid corner in my experience. After years on sport bikes, the Scrambler 1200 XE has been the perfect bike to transition too. BTW… I usually get 50+ mpgs if I’m not too hamfisted.

A few years ago, when I reviewed the street twin (when it became water cooled and semi-broke away from the "old" 900s), I absolutely loved it for the same subjective reasons you love this. Doesn't win on numbers, or any technical details but just is something you fall in love with and WANT inside the first mile you ride it. I mentioned that the 1200 would be a hard sell for me. Neither is the type of bike I'm going to be squeezing high end performance out of, and unlike say the 400, the 900 twin is plenty strong enough that I never felt I needed the extra 20ish hp of the 1200 for an extra 4 grand when it otherwise looks, sounds, operates nearly identical. It's a hard sell to not feel the 900 family isn't enough. I'm not opposed to high performance, I have a 160hp bike that most of my riding buddies say is a death trap and it makes me giggle... but I doubt somebody is riding the 900 triumph twins and says that they're not fadt enough yet is suddenly content with the 80hp 1200 big brother. Seems like triumph invented a flagship of the retro series so they could sell a flagship of the retro series.

Ok, I'm sold. Talk about THE bike to survive the Zombie Apocalypse! I have to disagree with you placement on the Leaderboard. 1) You rode thru that flash mud-pool like a champ. Name one other moto that could have done that? In a pinch, you could take this baby anywhere on your Daily Ride 2) 1200cc + 6-speed + cruise control = it can handle USA 80MPH freeway -- clear roads or w/traffic 3) Long Ride Solution = Corbin seat upgrade -- most need it anyway 4) 4-gal = Range -- full tank for a week of commuting or weekend fun time 5) Weekend Warrior = I can screw around in the dirt for funs-in all I want 6) Has to be more comfortable than a sport bike / naked when stuck in traffic (many states, including mine do NOT have Lane Splitting & Filtering... someday for all us riders...) 7) Price - $13k -- could be slightly less expensive for ideal, but given the features; it's not bad. How is this not one of the top if not #1 Daily Rider for 2024? One un-answered question: How do the tubeless road-off-road tires last if I rack up the pavement miles? Can they endure the ODO test? The biggest problem I have with modern bike seats is not really how thin the seat padding is, as high density foam can be thin and still be comfortable. It's how flat the seat is, and how thin it is at the edges, where the back/inside of your thigh pushes against it. The edges need to round off and hang the side padding lower if you want to be able to ride for more than an hour or two. I currently daily a '79 CB750F, and find that most bikes of this period (I also used to daily a CB250T, GT250, GS750...even a CB250RS) are much more comfortable than their more modern replacements. Much slower, obvs...but much more comfortable.

I'm in my late 30s with a trashed back, so the appeal of a bike like this to me is that it has more than 3" of suspension travel and big wheels for riding over potholes. Maybe the fact that the average motorcyclist is almost 50 with a lot of the typical age related problems is a big part of the ADV bike boom. Personally, I'd never own another street bike no matter how cool I think it is because I don't want the jolts up my spine anymore. It's true that scramblers look cooler than ADV bikes though. Assuming similar ride and handling, I'd take the 1200xe over the 1200 tiger.

Had a black 1984 Nighthawk 700s when i was 19 and remember getting caught in a rain storm in a t shirt running about 60mph on a back road....felt like i was being hit with bbs, from a gatling gun😄

I think Triumph chooses seat foam that feels nice when you sit on the bike in the showroom. I have owned 2 new Triumphs and both had the problem you spoke about.
