Like always...good informative and entertaining! Big props. for having the cohones to ride these trails in the dark! I'm impressed with the off-road capabilities of the Triumph Scrambler! I would have never imagined that it would slightly outdo the Africa Twin as the AF has the great off-road reputation in the big ADV size category.

I ride a triumph scrambler, my first bike. Probably not wise to go off-road as a newb but I did and I’ve gone down quite a few times while getting comfortable on trails and at slow speeds but after 3 years of riding it I can honestly say these bikes are very capable mostly due to the beefy motor but you still need the knobby tires also. Yes. By definition sound is vibration that can be heard not vibrations that are heard.
@scldma1144 жыл бұрын
The problem with this is that is like saying “all crows are black” based on the experience that each time we see a crow it is black. The theory is good until a pink crow arrives. Now till now we experienced trees producing sound when they fall. So we say “all trees make sound when they fall” but if there is nobody in the forest to hear it making a sound how can we be sure is not “a silenced tree”, a pink crow? We cannot. We assume it makes a sound and that is all we can. Btw though, if there is nobody there, did the tree actually fell at all? I know it is pretty much a mental exercise talking about trees but when we stop looking a big sized things and start looking into extremely small atomic particles things aren’t so *obviously logic* anymore. 😅
@DoRC4 жыл бұрын
@@scldma114 we know that when a tree falls the energy released from an impact in the ground will include vibrations in the audible range. This means that it will produce sound. Unless the laws of physics change which they haven't in a long time this will be true.
@scldma1144 жыл бұрын
Do RC actually, laws of Physics change quite a lot continuously and it is natural as they are a convention not a fact. I.e. with introduction of quantum mechanics a lot of theory needed to be reviewed, modified and changed. I pick quantum theory because in example Einstein and Bohr (both nobel prizes for physics) discussed indeed over very similar dilemma, although both “fathers” of quantum mechanics having different views on the matter. Even leaving that alone a scientific answer to the (originally religious/philosophical) dilemma was published by “scientific american” already 200 years ago or so: “Sound is vibration, transmitted to our senses through the mechanism of the ear, and recognized as sound only at our nerve centers. The falling of the tree or any other disturbance will produce vibration of the air. If there be no ears to hear, there will be no sound” All of the above if we leave out any consideration on the construction of the reality, how a viewer influences the scene he is viewing and a huge lot of other issues. Scientists and philosopher have debated on this or very similar matters for hundreds of years, I hardly belive the definitive answer can be posted here today 😂
