"Is the RS model worth the extra $2600 versus the R model?" Yes! Despite the higher price point, it's actually the counter-intuitive 'value' buy. The part content fully justifies it. The more important question is: will you utilize and 'get' what the RS up-charge buys you? I went with the 'R' ...a conscious (yet tough) choice, especially since I previously had the '20 'RS.'

IMO the RS is worth the cost, it has better suspension, a bit more power, nicer display... What is needs is both head lights on for hi and low beams, a way to flash the hi beams, some grab handles for the rear, cornering head lights and legible information on the display. I have a 22 and love the bike, but it seems that some of the cost was for track related features, maybe there should be a Street Triple RR for those looking to do track, and then the RS, for street use.

One of the best all rounder bikes I've ridden. Are there better track bikes? Yes. Are there better street bikes? Of course. But the Street Triple is great in both environments. It is plush and easy to ride on the street, and extremely planted and controlled on the track. I have a Panigale V2, a ZX4RR, Street Triple RS right now. If I only have to keep one bike, it's going to be the Street Triple. It is that good to me.

11:00 I have this same exact bike, and have similar gripes about it the display. Somehow the TFT on my 2018 765RS was better. You can make the text for the RMP larger btw... Other than that, the bike is an absolute joy to ride. I use it to commute and hit up the canyons on the weekend. Absolutely love it. The quick shifter on the 2024 is 100x better than the 2018 model

Hi, great trio of vlogs on these bikes very in-depth reviews. I’ve previously mentioned that my choice was the “R” model it’s more than enough for a 55 year old bloke who’s just got back on a bike after 30 yrs, the days of knee sliding for me are long gone but I still enjoying opening up the taps for a thrill :) overall very pleased with the street triple 👍🏻

This is my first time watching your videos and this was a very good overview/review. I think you highlighted another key point when riding the rough section of road that wasn't considered in the recommendation of the R over the RS for most people and that's the quality of roads they will be riding. I live in an area with some pretty poorly maintained roads, even the "nice" roads can be a little rough, so the upgraded suspension components on the RS would not only make for a more comfortable/compliant ride but contribute to additional safety when riding as well. That coupled with the other upgrades, and the optional cruise control add-on, make the RS a no-brainer for the extra money. Which in Canada, where I live, is also only $2600 or a much better value than American buyers get. As for competitors, I was deciding between ST RS and new MT-09 SP but in Canada the MT-09 is $17k, without add-ons, vs $13k for the Street Triple RS. Even after adding cruise control, the Bluetooth module, heated grips, TPMS, all the protective options, bar end mirrors and colour matched flyscreen the Triumph still comes out nearly $1800 less than the Yamaha. To me, the Street Triple RS is easily the bike to beat. Which is why my order is being placed with my nearest Triumph dealer.

Good job of making the crucial point that it is important to buy the bike that suits your actual needs, rather than simply the one which provides the best "numbers". All too often, riders are wooed by marketing and hype into buying something they don't really need, simply because the experts say one is better performing. Everything is relative. Sometimes, the less exotic choice is actually the best one.

The strange thing about the suspension is most reviews I have seen say that the R is better for the road with bad road surfaces etc…. This was due to the plushness of the ride, the handling stability presumably due to the 10mm lower ride height of the rear where as the RS is firmer, quicker to drop in to a corner and therefore better suited to the track. I’m not sure if that contradicts your thoughts or not and let’s face it both bikes have fully adjustable suspension and different tyres for a start

I have a 2022 RS and I put 7000 miles on it, 60% urban 40% canyon/highways. It came with standard damper settings ("road"), and it felt a bit stiff to me because the pavement here is appalling. Then I set the dampers to "comfort" settings (less bump/rebound up front, less rebound at the rear), in the same pavement I got a significant improvement, I´d say it became tolerable for frequent commuting.

I've ridden this bike recently. Great chassis, very nice wheelie characteristic, good brakes, good suspension, if a little "throws you out of your seat" over larger bumps. Imo this craps all over the MT09 in any spec... But the engine is a little flat and weak on this. It's nice and revvy, and not slow, but lacks a bit of *je ne sais quoi*... Imo in this category the clear winner is the KTM Duke 890R, same price, much livelier, comfier, even better chassis, same amazing brakes, great suspension for real life roads, and suuupppeerr economic, the 765 is a bit of a chugger despite it's size and output...

I own this exact bike right now in this cosmic yellow, I would say if you care about the sitting position, go for the mt9sp would be more up right, the street triple is just a tiny touch more leaned forward. One thing I would say about the mt9 is that the breaks are not the finest, the street triple is definitely better at that part, but you could upgrade the brakes on the mt9 and it’s probably cheaper overall. I was debating between the two but I just can’t get over the looks of the mt9. I would say the street triple is definitely better on track, the mt9 engine is more fun on the road.

I slightly beg to differ. An aftermarket exhaust frees up a lot of unsprung weight.

@@truss6282 right. One of my bikes is a KLX 300 and Tusk (I think) makes what they call a Tail Eliminator Kit. So many bikes have great features but they always seem to have one or two things that stand out in a bad way

Triumph’s always seem to me like they’re designed my committees, some of which don’t have anyone who actually rides I them. You get this mix of well thought-out features next to terrible ones that were definitely designed by someone who doesn’t ride. They never really nail it for me.

If you know how to calculate hp and torque you know its the same engine as the R. Of course you have more hp if you move the red line further up the rev range. How many bikes haven't been sold at higher prices just because the hp is said to be more just because the calculation is at higher revs. For sure the mapping can make the bikes feel different but it doesn't change the maxes the engine can do.
@ZabDevin

What are you talking about? Just because a bike revs higher doesn’t mean it has increased HP. Where did you learn that from?

Mechanical Engineering. Power = torque x revs

@@dirkhuman760 Oh, okay. But there are many bikes with more horsepower than this bike, that don’t rev as high. Please explain? I thought bore and stroke were also factors in HP.

do you think its enough engine for bigger/longer rides? currently i ride a hayabusa, i hurt my back tho so i want to change for a naked bike and these 765 seem like the perfect bike for me, im just not sure about it for the few times i go touring, usually not more than 300 or 400km at a time

Engine absolutely, if anything the lack of windscreen would be the bigger issue, may want to look into aftermarket parts. As far as the power and parts go, it can handle long commuting without a hitch. You should be able to get 170-200ish miles total too per tank

@@wlt3585 170-200 miles on the updated one with 15L tank? I might get one this year, but the only letdown for me is the tank, many claim it gives a range of 150miles only.

@@kausarayub If you're ripping it alot of the time (which is completely understandable) than yeah 150ish will be what you get, but if you do a fair bit of chilled out riding than 170-180 should be pretty attainable. 200 would be like an unrealistic perfect tank to be honest.

I believe Big Rock Moto misspoke concerning the optional cruise control on this bike. It is available on the R model but NOT on this RS. The Triumph configurator states that cruise is "Suitable for non-DRL bikes only." The RS comes standard with DRL and the R has no DRL. I had an RS on order earlier this year and canceled when my dealer confirmed that cruise was not available.

@@mtbiker64 well, your dealer suck sorry. In this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHraqJenoJuXoc0si=fv348pc_KXPAcbXG You can see him fitting the switch with cruise control, then he goes to his Triumph dealer who activate the feature (free of charge). What you can't have in the US is having the light switch, to switch off the low beam and only run the DRL like we can in the EU. Even if you buy a EU switch and fit it to your bike it will not work. I think your dealer is confusing this and the cruise control

Toss in a curve ball: Z900. More power everywhere, more torque everywhere, far superior smoothness everywhere, yeah it weighs more but the offset is the rock solid feel of confidence and stability, it also cost less, it's a very capable track machine with some suspension work.

Even the Z900 SE's handling wasn't in the same league as The Duke 890R, Striple RS, and MT09 SP. It was just too heavy.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@Alex_mkII "Same league" is some exaggeration there. Recently Chris over at Bike World UK raced a Z900 courtesy of Team Kawasaki. All they did to it was cartridges and a shock, exhaust, tune, and sticky tires. It was giving 600cc bikes a very hard time around the track. /watch?v=Wl-UvxmT3kQ

@lifted_above1216 I only test rode a stock SE model vs other stock bikes. It's a much heavier bike than its competitors, and you can really feel it when riding it back to back. Awesome engine though.
@exothermal.sprocket

@@Alex_mkII Fair enough. Stability and solidity are the sense I got when I owned a '17 for a while. Total opposite with the '18 MT-09. What Chris of Bike World had set up on that racing bike was minimal, but with cartridges and a shock, I'd say it's a lot closer to the Duke 890R and Street Trip RS in terms of suspension capability, and like I said, on a race track the Z900 with minimal adjustment and decent suspension was giving a 600 supersport a hard time. If a race track isn't a good analogue of what a machine's capability is, compared to something else, I don't know what is.
