Extremely well-equipped motorcycle: centre stand, tubeless spoked wheels, rack, great dash, effective screen. Looks well-finished, as well. What great value. It really makes you think that there is no need for more. Thorough review, as ever, Mark.

I rode a DS525X in France last October. I’d just ordered a 300 Rally from the dealer and at the same time arranged to have a new rear tyre fitted to my 2021 500X. When I turned up for the tyre change the dealer asked if I would like to try the brand new DS525 that he had just put on trade plates. It had less than 10 km on the clock. I took it out and enjoyed riding it. It is so well equipped it’s a real bargain at the price. It was hard to make any real performance comparisons with my 500X but I enjoyed riding the Voge and even managed a bit of off road riding. I then rode the hour’s ride home on the 500X. When I got home I was pleased because although I had found the DS525X really good to ride, comfortable, coming fully specced at a very good price I wasn’t tempted to trade in my Honda just yet. It’s difficult to make any subjective comparison between the two because the Voge was so new but on my ride home the Honda was simply nicer to ride. That didn’t surprise me, the 500X is the best bike I’ve ever owned and after trading in the Pan European that I had owned for nine years before it my annual mileage doubled. That says it all, it’s a great touring bike for my needs. Having said that the Voge ran it close and that’s a big positive for it. Add in the equipment level and price and I’m sure that it will be very successful in that part of the market. I would certainly recommend that anyone interested in a lower mid-range adventure touring bike to have a very close look at one.

Hi Mark, first of all let me give my overall impression on this bike review : This is the best bike review of ANY bike I've ever watched. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You take your audience through all of the thought processes when contemplating the purchase of a middleweight 'sport' tourer so well, so thoroughly, so calmly; that the only thing left to do is - go and buy a Voge 525X !! I'm currently running a Himalayan 411 after a lifetime of bigger, more powerful bikes and I'm in the market for additional or replacement bike. The only question left in my mind is, will the Voge 525X be just a bit physically too small as I'm 6 ft and 110 kgs. But fortunately I have a test ride booked in with my local VOGE on friday so I can resolve the size issue then. Thanks again for all the quality work you've obviously put in, to present the bike to us. Subscribed. PS I have been trying to get a ride on the new Himmie 452 (which is what I would really I love, I think) but over here in France no-one appears to have deliveries of them yet. What is your opinion/comparison of the two bikes, as both would do what I want done and are in the same ballpark price-wise here in France.

So, I have done with this bike almost 6000 kilometers (3800 miles). Here in Greece brand new it costs 5995€. You get a lot of bike for your money. - Very good sitting position for short to medium height riders, that gets best when adding Bar Risers (tall riders will get a bit cramped due to the position of the footrests) - The bike is very nimble through traffic, excellent roller coaster on twisties and very comfortable on highways. - Front and Rear Suspensions work very good, although the Front is a bit soft and dives under heavy braking -Front Brakes are very good and Back Brake is just adequate (both Nissin) . Brake pumps are good, but you need better Brake Pads in order to get the best Braking possible. - The Clutch is ridiculously light and the gear changing, despite being a bit clunky and noisy, they are very accurate. - The heat from the engine is very tolerable and once it gets 100°C on very hot days, the Fan comes on and instantly drops it. - The Fuel Consumption is generally good, but it is mostly determined by your right wrist. If you go bananas, you can see 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres (51 MPG), but most of the times you are at around 4.5/100 kms (63 MPG). Check out my Fuel Ups : www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/voge/_525dsx/2023/georgecbf125/1233779 - ABS and Traction Control work very well. Especially the TCS, once it detects that you rode fast over a big pothole, it immediately cuts the power for safer passage over that. - Metzeler Tourance have really good grip and are A-MA-ZI-NG on wet surfaces, but they need some time to get warm and they don't provide the best feedback from the road. - Stock Windshield is rubbish, just get a bigger one from AliExpress (a 47cm would be enough if you are less than 1.80m in height). - Stock Seat is OK for doing your in-town rides, but if you plan on sitting for more than 45 minutes, you will eventually gets a sore butt. The width is good, but lacks padding, so go to an Upholstery store and put some more foam. - Stock Chain is mediocre quality, but it does the job. - The Gearing is a bit short. The 1st Gear is almost non existent and after 80-85 kph (50-55 mph) you feel that you must put 6th. So, I changed from a 15T Front Sprocket to a 16T and now the 1st Gear is usable, you put the 6th only when you want to cruise (I now get 140 kph at 6000 RPMs) , BUT I lost the instant "boom" from the start and around 20 kph from Top Speed. - There is an annoying buzz at 4000 RPMs. This is due to the fact that the bike has to adapt to the Euro5 and A2 Regulations, because it naturally produces 54-55 HP and now it has 48 HP (it has 3 Catalysts). - The LCD Screen is nice, but not very visible under direct sunlight - LED headlights and the standard Fog Lights provide fantastic lighting in the dark All in all, don't be afraid to buy it. It is a very versatile and fun bike to ride. The Honda NX500 costs 2000€ more and it is short 1,000-1,200€ on equipment, so the Voge seems fantastic value

I absolutely believe that the Chinese can make a bike or car to any quality point you want to specify for a budget. The only reasons I wouldn't buy one are 1. Dealership networks are thin on the ground and small-time so there is a worry about warranty work and getting parts. 2. The perception about Chinese bikes needs to change in the general public. This situation is exactly where we were with Japanese cars and bikes in the 1970s. While we can find that ignorance amusing, at this point in time it means that Chinese bikes will depreciate hard or even be unsellable on the used market.

Voge have been in the UK for a few years, dealers are well spread out and parts readily available. Rare to find one second hand, speaks volumes. The engineering quality is akin to Japanese production. You get a really good package with this brand and in a few years they will be a serious contender. In June 2024, the 900 will be available, that will be a threat to its competitors and will bring a few bikes on to the second hand market. Voge is the new Yamahondukisaki. I’m old enough to remember a spotty yoof turning up at the cafe on his shiny Honda, how we scoffed at Japcrap. Whilst we were playing yo-yo with kickstarts he was turning left at the end of the road. Move forward two years and the Japanese had taken over, British bikes were old hat. Voge are a real threat to the competition.

Additional elements I would have found useful would be some of the more practical features, such as how the rear suspension is adjusted - is there a remote for the preload or do you have to manually adjust with a C spanner, and how easy is it to get at; where is the oil fill and drain and the filter and how accessible are they for home maintenance; does it come with a toolkit and what’s inside it; just some thoughts I had after watching. It would be great to see a review of all these different value for money options and a comparison of where they are similar and where they differ. Many thanks, Richard from Cornwall.

And my quick pricing of the NX500 , adding 'some' of the extras to bring it up to 'near' the Voge spec amounted to £8,200 . And that's not including a top box and panniers. So £6,200 for the Voge package with those included as well is a steal. Loncin who own Voge also make engines for BMW bikes , so are they really going to make bad one with the DS525X ? I don't think so. Look at who makes the other parts for this bike , Nissin , Kayaba , Metzeler. Chinese are bringing in quality to the market now.

As an owner of the (amazing) Voge 300 Rally, I was looking forward to this as something that would be better for distance but still off road oriented. Sadly though, this one seems to follow the herd with small wheels and other more road biased bits. (footrests for one). On the brighter side though. The new CF Moto 450MT (18" 21" wheels) is coming soon which should better suit my needs. (I've already got a deposit down). The Voge certainly looks like a nice bike and great value but can't help wondering if it's just another 500 adventure bike that's not entirely suited to adventure?

that is an awful lot of decently specced bike for that money and very capable it seems, the Japanese really have got to up their game and improve value for money if they aren't to be loosing massive sales, these types of bike are just what the market needs, realistic bikes for real world prices and something to be used and not stuck in a garage for 9 months of the year, whats not to love
@BikingChap7 ай бұрын
Well, if you want the Japanese brands to lower quality ever further to reduce the ticket price then I'm sure that's what will happen in time. Sad times.
@andyc7507 ай бұрын
@@BikingChap obviously not looked to closely at what is currently coming out from Japan recently, expensive and certainly not what it used to be, the bike world needs these companies to kick the established brands in their jaded arses, shame you don't do as you say on your channel description really as were that the case you would admit things need to change

@@andyc750 I'm pretty up to date with what's coming out of Japan, though I don't profess to be an expert. I'd be interested in what you mean by 'shame you don't do as you say on your channel description'. Unlike the main / big review channels I'm not under pressure to say positive things about the bikes I review so I can be completely honest, other views are available of course. These Chinese brand bikes are cheaper than the Japanese bikes for a reason, the offer is certainly not the same as the Japanese brands at a knock down price. Lower prices don't automatically mean better value...
