The iD4 has been a great vehicle. Drives beautifully, extremely well built, comfortable, and has cost an average of $17 per month to charge and maintain for the first three years of driving. No car is perfect, so find the one you like and buy it. It used to be fun to cajole friends and neighbors for buying a Ford/Chevrolet/Dodge/etc . . . all in good fun. Today, criticism of everything has become a blood sport!

The new model is such a great car. The Travel Assist works amazing, makes highway drives really relaxing. And switching over from an ICE car it makes it do easy. The whole cockpit is like it should be, no need to adapt to an 'innovative' interface. Just sit in and drive.

Don’t tell people only about the high price trim they have 40000 and 43000. I hate when you tubers only bring up the trim they are driving

I honestly don’t understand these “enthusiasts reviews”, I bought my 2024 Pro a month ago and I absolutely love it. I get 266 miles of range on 80% charge, the sound system is great. It’s smooth, quiet, quick. Climate on the screen is cool and I put my iPad down in that little place under the cup holders and it’s never come out while cornering, but I don’t drive like an ahole.

Having touch capacitive buttons on the steering wheel is absolutely moronic. I like a lot of things about the VW ID.4 but software and infotainment are not good. I'm really happy VW made a deal with Rivian to use their software and electrical architecture.

I took advantage of the end if June sale price, over $9k in incentives plus state/fed tax incentives. I guess that helps me look favorably on the iD.4 AWD PRO S. I wish the + was something that could be added as options particularly the 360 cameras. Some things many don't mention are that the rear hatch opens very high, at 6'2" I don't need to duck under it at all. For a first time EV driver the B mode is essentially one pedal, it is way more aggressive than any ICE vehicle transmission. I can time it to stop at a stop sign with normal driving. On my 65mph highway commute with 600' elevation differential I am averaging over 4 mi/kWh, probably no worse than typical Tesla driver. It is more than enough power. The door handles do pull up if you're a gorilla like me but that doesn't make them open, just a heavy spring load on them. Thought I broke my car the first day.

They just announced the German factory will be producing a platform mate Explorer EV. Idk why they wouldn’t continue to build the ID.4 at the same time.

Too bad you don´t get the Skoda Enyaq in the US. It´s better in almost every single way. From my point of view atleast. Slightly bigger, better materials, better cabin layout and 4(!) window switches. Also. Gets a better sound system, both the base and upgraded system :)

Unfortunately from the outside it´s vice versa. At least from my point of view. The Enyaq tries to be a "traditional" car from the in- and outside. ID4 tries to be different. Both have their pros and cons. Personally for example i love the 2 window switches, because i almost always accidentaly open the rear window, when i want to open the drivers window without looking. It is an ergonomic design flaw with most cars if your elbow is on the armrest. I definately disagree with the soundsystem for the 2024 models.

Who decided piano black was a good choice for interior parts like handles and other controls??? The touch buttons on the wheel and touch controls on the infotainment system are still my bane, the weird and absolutely terrible window controls even ignored. The way the center screen sits "up" on the dashboard also looks weird and slightly distracting. The drivers display then being so little and having a glossy reflective screen just feels like adding insult to injury. Prices overall are high, features are a mixed bag (like missing OPD), but features like massage seats or projection holograms when opening the doors seem to be a priority. I know A LOT of other cars don't do it any better, but that's what I'm saying: I'm in a big disagreement with a lot of the more recent trends regarding controls, screens and layout. I love EVs and love seeing people adapt to their quirks so the industry takes them seriously, but the ID.4 still shows that there are a lot of half-hearted commitments to odd solutions simply for doing something different for the sake of doing something different.

Can you please do fuel test on Mercedes A class Audi A3 Or Acura Integra Not many people actually giving out real world fuel efficiency on any of these lower end premium buys.

for 52k you can get I guess the base id.7 which is better in any way, except for the panoramic roof which doesn't have a cover

I wouldn't recommend the ID.4 to anyone based solely on the controls. It's unbelievably pathetic that product planners and executives signed off on this to save $20.

Agreed! I own an EV, but mostly because of aggressive tax incentives. But do keep in mind that for some people, an EV is more valuable to them than a gas car, so it's not all about money savings. My wife much prefers the smoothness, quickness, and ease of an EV, and she never drives more than 100 miles in a day. In fact her usual day is about 15 miles. So never having to go to the gas station is a perk for her, not a detriment.

@@DailyMotor she still paid more for the “perks”. Wait. Nah. Let me guess she likes the perks because she is not paying for it huh? Who paid for that car? Who lost 15k-20k (compared to a gas car) so she could have the perks? 🤣🤣 Its fine if you are honest. Just dont say you bought an EV to save on whatnot. Thats what Im saying. You bought an EV because you are a marketing sheep. All your wife had to do was take 5 minutes every week to go fill up. But because of the marketing, that became such an encumbrance all of a sudden. Then she also started to crave the quickness of an EV because…she is now a street racer. Sure. Dont get me started on the “smoothnest” she now desperately wanted. Did the harshness of that gas car give her health problems? Its funny how the human mind works. You want something because it’s cool and because of the image and you now start to find all sorts of “perks” to it in order to justify the purchase. These automakers know what they are doing. Crazy genius marketing.

You are correct - at this stage of EV evolution. Many EVs will, in fact, cost their owners more over the life of the vehicle than an ICE. However, my next car will be an EV not because of cost savings but because (on balance) EVs are easier on the environment than ICE. I've heard all the arguments about lithium mining and recycling issues, etc. The fact remains EVs are a good alternative and batteries will only get better (lithium alternatives already exist). I'm also willing to pay a premium for the driving advantages (quiet, quick, etc.). EVs aren't for everyone but I'm glad we have a choice and are moving in the right direction.
