I own two Freedoms, both bikes ride great. My dual battery Freedom with all the upgrades is my favorite. The “wobble “ thing has never been an issue, because I don’t have a need to ride without my hands on the handle bar. The rear rack holds a rack bag with a spare inner tube and tools, along with a heavy NY bike lock. The Freedom is a solid bike that performs great. Great vid. Lots of variables to consider here and many go beyond just the bike. These mostly relate to what percentage of the total weight is behind the mid point of the bike, front to back, and how close that weight is to the extreme front and back. This all relates to the physics associated with leverage. Rider body type will play a big role too. For example a heavier rider carrying lots of weight in the torso may make it worse while riders with bigger leg muscles or forearms may help avoid it. The more imbalance to the rear, the worse it is. An extreme example is those springy door stoppers in most houses. Light on one side and heavy immovable wall on the back side. Tap one of them to watch some extreme wobble. Having said all that, I think frame and parts stability plays a role as well. I have a Dual Battery ECells 5 Star and unless I load multiple water bottles on my back rack, wobble is much harder to achieve than what I saw in this video. Maybe my huge leg and forearm muscles are helping avoid it though. 😊 I must say I was surprised to see wobble this bad with the HellBender installed.

@robanderson5624 Agreed! Great points to consider. Thanks for watching, glad you are enjoying your Ecells!

Have to admit I roll my eyes a bit whenever people start talking about "death wobble" as if it is something new or unique to bikes like this. As a guy who is 6'7" 280lbs I can tell you from experience: EVERY bike will wobble. It's just worse on this frame style for a number of reasons. One difference you'll notice from this version to the previous one: extra bolts on the rear shock linkage. Why? Because that's really where the wobble is coming from. Because of my size, rear shocks are generally useless for me and end up locked out so I don't bottom them out, which is why I'd LOVE if one of these companies would make a similarly equipped bike in a hardtail version. So far, no one is making one, which makes me sad.
@leetjohnson18 күн бұрын

@AndyPacey12 күн бұрын
I'm weighing this up against a ghostcat pro, this would give me far more freedom because it still looks mtb rather than emoped, not to mention how pretty it is. The wobble issue is caused by the mass of weight on the rear with the second battery agreed, Wired have obviously tried to negate it with a more braced linkage and a stiffer stem, but i think it's incurable and it exists on all ebikes that have so much weight in one spot, imo Wired should do away with the 2nd battery and rack completely, it's damn ugly anyway. They could of course give you a identical second battery for the frame mount, yes you'd have to swap it out rather than have it onboard, but the wobble headache would be gone and most people wont need more range in one go than the 20ah frame batt delivers. I'm still very much considering one of these bikes, but for my use the rack/battery and wiring would be gone, also a set of dual/triple crown forks to lift the front up to allow swapping the bars for some regular mtb bars. Its still a stunning bike, very beautiful in the blue.
@leetjohnson12 күн бұрын
@AndyPacey I agree with all of what you just said!! The additional battery really isn't necessary or worth the extra weight and wobble.
@AndyPacey12 күн бұрын
@@leetjohnson yes, your vid is spot on. i really don't get it, Wired have a winner right here, but seem hell bent on shooting themselves in the foot needlessly. Sack the rear setup, beef the front forks to dual crowns, put mtb bars on to negate the front end rise, at around 2K, this would be best in class, along with ghostcat and ecells 5 star. Ecells seem to have the same foot gun, they make the predator, then make it dual motor, another terrible idea imo, they too have a beautiful bike just leave it single rear, lose the rear nonsense and front motor. If this is your bike i'm very jealous, its a beauty, absolutely love the blue, I hope you show Wired how this particular bike should be setup. Its a stunner and should be shown as such, not "shopperified", its a dual suss mtb trail monster with a beautiful frame, let it be that in full. Thanks for posting, subbed to see if you "make it right" ;) Just found out Wired don't ship to UK, so disappointing , you guys are blessed with your choices over there!!
