Honest feedback, this felt more like an ad for Alpinestars and a review of that Californian region. I mostly missed the MT09 review part.

Thanks for your feedback. Admittedly, we try to share more of the experience of what the bike is like to ride, rather than stale specs and performance figures. What does the bike feel like to ride? How does it make us feel? I guess what I’m saying is, you can find the “specs & deets” of a bike on their website; we’d rather take you on the ride with us, in our videos and our stories (www.RoadDirt.tv). Just a somewhat different approach to all the other reviews that spew numbers anyone can find on the bikes’ web pages. Let’s take a ride together! *Had to give a shoutout to Alpinestars, who literally covered us in quality promotional gear.

I got mine on Thursday and I'm at 500. I got the suspension set up how I like it today and it's been the funnest bike I've ever ridden. I just need a tail tidy, Akrapovic exhaust (I can't find anywhere that has them in stock), and maybe an ECU map/flash to fix the weak-feeling second gear. might hold off on that though if it voids the warranty.

@@KjKase interesting that you mentioned the 2nd gear. In talking with Josh Hayes about it, he noted the weaker gear as well. Good observation.

@@roaddirttv Yeah, I give it gas while letting out clutch in first, it's good, shift to second and it's pretty tame, Switch to 3rd and WHAM! I have big acceleration again all of a sudden. It caught me off guard the first couple times. I've come to just expect it now though. But I wish it was consistent.

@@KjKase might be worth asking your Yamaha dealer if an ECU reflash would void the warranty. If it doesn’t, that might smooth out the slight discrepancy between those gears. Worth looking into,

I got the 2023 XSR "Version".. Besides the MT's larger Screen and shorter trailing arm, what functional differences are there? Best I can tell, same engine, chassis, Brakes Tires? Front/Rear Shocks? Heard a new trans, but can't imagine any improvement.. it's perfect.

Based on my '23 XSR.. the MT09 is One HELL of a Great Bike.. the Standard that everyone will emulate. 3 cylinders can screme.. 2 is always thumpy.. the weight.. the cost.. the Tronix. the quick shifter.. brakes w/new pads are very good.. Get it tuned w/an exhaust.. unleash it. very hard to beat.

Go Full Tilt with a -1 +2 sprocket change..

I’m told there’s no real difference in gearing, tuning, etc. between your XSR and this 09. There might be slightly different springs in the clutch pack, I understand. And of course, this year’s quickshifter is now 4-way, upshift/downshift at will, without changing throttle input. Honestly, we love the looks of the “sport heritage” XSR better. But yes, absolutely amazing motorcycles!

Nice looking bike. Too big for me though. I liked the MT03, the little brother version though.
