I grew up in a nice house in a nice neighborhood in Brevard County. We never freaked out unless it was a Cat 4, but even Cat three was a time for nailing boarding up on all the windows - mind you that is CENTRAL FL away from the beach!!I moved to TN back in 2009 and I don't remember ever seeing a Cat 5 actually make landfall like this is suggesting...Cat 4 is crazy by itself, you can barely keep yourself on the ground for the wind, and you risk getting cuts all over or injured by flying objects !! Our house had damage to the roof and the whole porch went bye bye. It was scary we had water coming up into the house from the porch.

Last night I had a dream about Hurricane Milton. In my dream the hurricane started hooking North as it approached Florida's gulf coast. It then started hugging the gulf coast of Florida and headed straight North hitting the cities of North Florida very hard (Tallahassee and other cities). I don't know if this will happen but when I woke up from this dream I felt very shaken. I told my mom about this dream and asked her to warn our relatives in North Florida to also prepare for this possible outcome. Right now no one is expecting this hurricane to hook North but if it does no one in North Florida is expecting this scenario and they haven't been preparing for this hurricane. If you live in North Florida you need to be watching this hurricane closely and possibly leave Florida as well. If this hurricane does hook North and you live in North Florida you need to leave quickly. If you can't leave then find a concrete commercial building (or concrete hotel) to take shelter in. You need to go to the second or third floor of the building (not the top floor where the wind could peel away the roof of the building). Take your emergency supplies with you to this commercial building (water, food, flashlights, radio, etc). Take this monster very seriously!

Latest from the Hurricane Center is that it is now hitting 175mph sustained winds with pressure at 911mb. Rapid strengthening is expected to continue with nothing currently seen to hender it. NHC is saying they expect it to be a CAT 5 at landfall, not a CAT 3.

There is certainly a possibility that Milton could be more intense based on how it is influenced by shear further north when it gets closer to landfall.

My daughter is a doctor in south Florida hospital and they told all to evacuate yesterday. I’m worried! I have watched hurricanes for decades.i used to live in Florida and I still have a home there, but this storm is really different. Already a 180 mph with wing gust of 220 BP earthwatch says that it will be a cat 6 , the first time in history, but this storm is like the first time and so was Helene . Very unusual! Milton is Coming from Mexico not Africa, That’s odd ! The way it’s rapidly growing ! Very odd! And the fact that it’s the 3 rd monster hurricane in 6 weeks. The residents of Florida cannot take anymore Momma ‘s in other area can’t handle worrying about their children. ❤️

Okay for any of you Tampa residents that STILL are not sure if you should leave, understand that mandatory evacuation orders have been issued for Macdill AFB. Mandatory Evacuees: Uniformed service members/dependents and all APF and NAF civilians employees/dependents .. Went through this very thing Hurricane Michael 2018 Tyndall AfB and it destroyed our base and we lost almost everything. Please please leave, don’t hesitate.

OMG... if that storm surge coMes up Tampa Bay it will be beyond catastrophic. If I were living there I'd head south to the Keys. You won't escape it going north, and you won't find any place to stay up there. Helene took all those out too!
