Truthfully if the Oscars nominated more genre films, their ratings would skyrocket and they’d be far more compelling. The same with this year’s Grammy nominations. We have artists from so many genres and demos it makes for a really fun and competitive race. Beyoncé arguably deserves a sweep just for Cowboy Carter literally opening racial barriers in 2024. Chappel and Charli are both dark horses, Andre could take it as a “legacy” award, so who knows really lol.

My biggest snub is Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth not getting nominated for best video game soundtrack. It’s one of the most diverse soundtracks for any medium, and not only remixes songs from the original game, but has a TON of new material. 20:42 For the R&B categories, I also agree that it was kind of not living up to the expectations. I was hoping Ravyn Lenae would get a nomination or two for Birds’s Eye, but especially in the case of Tinashe, a lot of people were convinced she had nominations for best R&B song with Nasty and best progressive R&B album for Quantum Baby in the Bag, which would have been so good for her considering the soft reboot she’s done musically with her BB/Ang3l trilogy and the fact that she was finally starting to get her long-awaited flowers, but she ended up not even being present here. Another R&B artist I was surprised to not see was Normani for Dopamine, as although the promotion might not have been there, the project overall was really nice. Also minor flowers for Chloë with Trouble in Paradise and Bryson Tiller with his self-titled album. I am also happy though to see Muni Long and Coco get some nominations along with SZA and Lalah. I just feel they totally could have done more for this genre in terms of who they chose. Edit: I also wanted to add that I personally found Usher's new album okay at best and see it more as an honorary nomination, but in the case of Chris Brown, I seriously don’t get how he is still able to have a platform with the Academy, ignoring the fact that his new project was also okay at best; he’s just so problematic, and there are so many better artists they could have added into these categories, which is a shame to see. 😕

Also not mentioned but love that Kali got some nominations this year, it sucked last year that she didn’t get anything for her previous album but I’m glad she’s atleast getting some recognition this year. Her and Raye were two big artists that were snubbed last year but got some much needed notice this year! Especially Raye 💕

I would like to see Neverender get a win, it’s my personal favourite song of the year. Plus, it would be nice to have Justice win something for their original work without a controversial snub. Don’t get me wrong, Woman Worldwide is really good (8/10 imo), but it’s unfortunate that it won at the expense of Sophie.

Those albums are literally dogwater but they’re getting nominated because it’s a popularity contest. I’ve noticed that they always pick one “old-school” rap album to appease the older crowd and then the rest is just a popularity contest. They gave nom to Taylor, because she has them in chokehold, and they don't want to disappoint swifties, but even they understand, Taylor winning AOTY with this album will piss off more people than her enormous fanbase. And besides that it's not like it deserves to win over Billie's, Charli's, Beyonce's, Chappell's albums anyway
