I just bought an Accord Hybrid EXL after considering the Camry. The Honda has much more rear seat legroom. It also has a more refined interior, I feel. Plus, Toyota dealers have a ridiculous mark up over list. I love that Camry has a spare tire, but I was able to buy a donut spare for the Accord that fits in the existing wheel well. As for styling, I actually like the Accord’s lines. But how it presents to the outside world is the least of my concerns. It drives phenomenally, has great regenerative braking (made even more engaging when using the paddles), and is smooth and quiet. I think it might be the nicest all around car I’ve owned since my 1973 BMW 2002. Believe it or not, it’s fun.

I know I like the look of my 2024 CRV Hybrid more than my neighbor's RAV 4. I think for me, I might get tired of the Camry's "bold" front, whereas the Accord is more serene and sophisticated and would not get tiring. I need a sedan and like the Accord but am not happy with how Honda has cutback compared to the Camry...no spare tire, now no temp gauge, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System no longer shows individual tire pressures. I do think the Camry's touchscreen looks better as it is blended into the dash, not just stuck on top.

In the past I have loved the Accord. But after comparing the current models, we went with the 2025 Camry XLE AWD. The full size spare, panoroof, SiriusXM, Homelink, and significantly more horsepower, made it a no brainer for us. The AWD was icing on the cake - power distribution on takeoff is very impressive.

Excellent and balanced review. Have 2024 CRV Hybrid and did spend $500 for a spare tire kit. As a senior in the Las Vegas desert, I don't want to wait hours to be towed because I have no spare, and the inflator kit is useless for the common blowouts here in the desert. One car magazine review said the Camry was a smoother ride and less sporty, but with the greater interior dimensions, higher quality interior materials, and extra large trunk (I'd buy a spare tire and put in the wheel well) I'd lean towards the Accord. I happen to think the style of the Accord is "classier" looking than the harder edge sport styling of the Camry, but that all depends on one's view. I just know I'd likely get tired of looking at the Camry's styling. Similar fuel efficiency too, though one car magazine said Accord hybrid beat the Camry hybrid in performance numbers. Tough call as these are more similar than, let's say, a Ford truck versus a Chevy truck. Judging from my CRV Hybrid which has performed flawlessly, I would not hesitate to get the Accord when I need a sedan.

The Accord does not have a CVT transmission. They also call it "eCVT", but it is nothing like the Camry's. A better name would be "virtual CVT." When cruising at highway speeds, it is a single-gear (overdrive) direct drive transmission. RPM=37*MPH. Any other time, the engine does not drive the wheels at all. It is an EV; not a Battery EV, like a Tesla, but a Battery+Generator EV. Since the engine drives only a generator, there is no relationship between its speed and the car's speed. You can calculate the ratio, and it does vary continuously, but it is meaningless.

I prefer Accords looks only the highest trim levels and it is a bit more spacious but the hybrid drivetrain experience in the Toyota feels better to me - so for day-to-day, Id want the Camry. Also, I find it a little shameful that while the Accord has the largest backseat space and most legroom it has less head clearance unless you purposely slouch. If you are under 5'10 its a non issue but otherwise its annoying to have your head graze the ceiling in an otherwise large car (all for the at swoopy look). And oddly, the Honda felt less engaging in my test drive of the highest trim model. If Accord is Vanilla, Camry is Vanilla Bean.

Thank you for doing this review. Both look good, More for Accord quality, simplicity, luxury interior, but how about reliability and spare tire for this car 2025? If only they can make similar style 2014 Honda accord EXL, fully loaded is already a nice car for me.

@BrosFOURRSpeedАй бұрын
So then which one is the best choice for you? Both words can be used to describe what you may think of these cars
@jeffjo8732Ай бұрын
"Better" is a comparative. It compares two things that are of the same kind. "Best" is a superlative. It makes the comparison against all other things of that kind, individually. Even if "all" is zero or one. What you are confused about, is that "better" can't be used with three things, but "best" can since the number is irrelevant.

Honda's hybrids with this system get better reliability ratings from KBB and JDPower. They even have fewer clutch failures (the Toyota has a permanently-applied clutch built into the flywheel).

New Honda ecvt is bullet proof and much better than Toyota. And older Honda cvt real world statistics shows a different scenario vs comments. I trade the Gand Highlander Small 4 Cyl Turbo Hybrid and got the Honda Pilot V6 N/A 10 speed transmission. No point of comparison, smooth, pleasant and powerful drive. Yes, I prefer 19 mpg + Cero Stress and Double Engine Life. I had several Toyotas and I’m so Happy with Honda.
