I picked up the Sport Touring Hybrid based specifically on your sedan review. Cool seeing the hatchback on here considering that's what I got. Currently on second tank of gas, averaging 48mpg with a solid mix of city and highway driving. My previous car was a '23 Civic Sport hatchback so I was able to compare apples to apples between the refresh and Sport Touring upgrade. Besides the obvious improvement in MPG's, the ride is significantly quieter at all speeds, I can drive with the stereo at a lower volume and that's nice. The stereo is a huge upgrade over the Sport, I love it. Seats are more comfortable and the heated option makes cold mornings bearable. Power is much more noticeable, with the gas Sport, it felt like it struggled to get out of it's own way. Not the case with the Hybrid. Google built-in is amazing! As soon as I press the start button, it's playing my music and displaying the map. No delay whatsoever. Not sure how it works with Carplay or iPhones. Also, with the front wheel off, it'll fit my 29" full suspension bike in the back without an hassle. I was able to fit 2 mountain bikes in it last week. For reference, it's the same length as a CR-V Hybrid, you just lose the height. We have a '23 CR-V and I've measured it.

@EUC-lid13 күн бұрын
230lb-ft at the electric motor is not the same thing as at the axle. Take the torque figure of an older ICE Civic, then multiply it by the 1st gear ratio and then again by the final drive ratio. A 1995 Civic that makes about 100lb-ft at the flywheel sends ~385lb-ft out of first gear and the final drive quadruples that, for nearly 1,500lb-ft into the axles. This new Hybrid is likely putting out about 1,859lb-ft to the axles at a stop, tapering as the motor speeds increase (with vehicle speed). Comparing torque figures of electric motors & ICEs with wildly incomparable final drive ratios is just apples & oranges.

So same HP as the Si, but you get 10-20 mpg's a gallon more? Nice. Too expensive, though.

A superb car. Love that Honda knocked it out of the park with this. (Not a fan of this color personally, but hey, I just won't buy that color.)

The engine alone doesn't make 200 hp... It's the combined peak output.
@EUC-lid13 күн бұрын
The final drive motor makes 181hp. All FWD 2-motor Honda hybrids since the 2014 Accord PHEV have had 181hp. Every other figure is theoretical marketing speak. The end. The ICE can be connected to the final drive by a wet clutch at low throttle (cruising) inputs, but there’s never a situation where the engine will be coupled to the drive wheels while providing max torque at the same time as the electric motor is sending max torque. At any sporting accelerator pedal positions the ICE is going to rev to provide generator power for the traction motor. Theoretically the ICE clutch could lock up near top speed and provide the mythical HP figure, but nobody buys a car based on how much power it makes at 114mph. Every other 230hp car makes 230hp at 30mph (assuming a normal top of 1st gear). All that said, they accelerate like they have the stated HP because of the uninterrupted electric torque, so nobody is going to feel cheated.

Once you're through with the walk-around and showing the interior and instrument panel, wouldn't it be better to switch to a stationary cam for the drive (head-turns are dizzying)? Otherwise, thanks for the review of this car I'm interested in. BTW, I've read that the level of regen chosen stays in place if you're in "Sport" mode.

Yess the traditional shifter is back. The button only one was awful. They tried to make it as minimal as possible, but making it weird to use.
@EUC-lid13 күн бұрын
The rest of the world and Honda’s upper level vehicles in North America still get the pushbutton shifter. It’s different, not weird, and it has some great features built in. For instance, it will automatically go into Park when you turn the car off, and it will automatically shift to Park if you attempt to drive away from a stop with a door open. Also, the buttons allow for more storage space (phone cubby underneath) in the console while the lever needs that space for the fulcrum. They also don’t block any controls in the center stack. The lever isn’t moving a cable anymore. It’s just a different method of pressing switches. Complete fake joystick for most modern cars of the past 2 decades.
