Not everyone thinks 3 rows are desirable. I much prefer the 2 row design and would not consider 3 row alternatives. Mazda understands that there are two completely different buyers. 2 rows mean more cargo room, less weight and, in this case, a sportier character with subtle design cues that differ from the CX-90.

Just bought one - coming from an Alfa Stelvio, but needed more space. I chose this over a CX90 because I am single/childless, but I have a dog that needs a bench seat. I also prefer the subtle styling differences over the CX90. With PHEV incentives, it ended up being a great lease deal. Very impressed so far - it has a wonderful interior

I would bet that if Mazda brought the CX-60 that many people are asking for, they would complain that it’s too small, or they would question Mazda’s rationale for doing so since the CX-5 and CX-50 are quite similar in terms of second row space. However, there is no question that Mazda should have done more to differentiate the CX-70 from the CX-90.

The CX-60 is a better, smaller size, but the RWD platform and long nose to accommodate the drivetrain means the cabin gets pushed rearward. The result in the CX-60 is a very tight rear seat that is almost unusable if tall people are up front. Cabin space is very cramped. The architecture of this platform is very compromised because of the RWD configuration which forced the CX-70 and -90 to be oversized and heavy.

Just turned 2k miles on my turbo premium plus. Overall, love the vehicle, but I have a growing list of issues I hope will be addressed: 1. Wireless charging never works, so hopefully a software update will eventually fix. When I place iPhone on it, it opens my apple wallet. Lol, maybe Mazda is looking for more money... 2. Rattles 🤬! Something annoying in console area I can't pin down yet (faint and high pitched), and something in the rear seats (maybe more). I see others with rear seat noise so I'll point that out to dealer. I do notice the rear seats vibrate (left to right) quite a bit when driving so not sure what that's all about? 3. Something not great in powertrain when starting slowly. Like a hesitation between 1st and 2nd gear. Does not do the same in sport mode (but can’t set sport mode as default). Good luck owners - Hope Mazda and dealers transparently address these issues.

Plug-in hybrid range should be much, much better at this point in time! As an owner of 2 EV’s, 26 miles won’t cut it. If you’re in cold climate that number will be reduced, and there’s no mention of regenerative braking, so… With all the available tech, manufacturers must be holding back this offering for a reason. If that number was 75-100 miles of range, I bet you’d see a major increase in hybrid sales.

What a fluff piece of a review. According to Lyn, everything is sunshine and rainbows, but aside from mention of a little jerkiness with the transmission, which is a chronic problem for the CX-70 and -90 and which has had numerous software fixes attempted, nothing was mentioned about the stiff ride, the heavy steering, and she even attempted to gloss over the bizarre infotainment system. Add to that an endless list of recalls, numerous buyer issues with flaky systems and features simply not working, and very odd configurations and pricing, and one can understand why these are stacking up on dealer lots. There are already numerous lemon law buybacks being reported on brand forums. A bit more transparency would be helpful.

Mazda trying to continue pushing their cars as luxury is so sad. Mazda, you either have to start a luxury brand or keep your vehicles aligned with the rest of the market. I am not going to cross shop a Mazda if I'm planning to buy a BMW.

Couldn’t disagree more. They do lixury by their trim lines. So if you want more base, mainstream, go to a lower trim and now the Mazda is much better than a Chevy, with negligible price difference. Go to a signature or upper trim and you are competing with luxury cars at a much lower price point. The whole point of the brand is to play in the space between.

I want a BMW which is reliable. Therefore, I’ll buy a high end Mazda. Part of “luxury” to me is not having to take my vehicle back to the dealer all the time. I have other things to do in my life other than sit in the fancy schmancy dealer sipping a latte while wasting my time waiting for an overengineered car to be fixed. (Sadly, while the German high end cars are notorious for this, the Japanese cars are getting this way as well. Thank you EPA for your overreach).

The down-rated 3.3 Turbo in this car does NOT deliver 391 lb. ft of torque, as you claim. Even the uprated 3.3 delivers "only" 369 lb.ft.

Makes sense having a different nomenclature for the CX-70. I cross shopped the Genesis GV80, and it was confusing trying to identify one that had the 3d row. This way, there are no issues with that. Also, the CX-70 is definitely more sporty looking.

The CX-70 is already among the top in class for any CUV the equivalent size. The PHEV is even more efficient.

Agreed, if this had the Highlander Hybrid engine..... it would be such a hit!

Right but it is in the same size class as a Highlander, which has a hybrid. So ppl would buy a highlander not a prius.....

Mazda is out of touch with the market. Tested a CX-50 and it was so disappointing. Uncomfortable seats, hard on premium gas and very tight on interior space. Ended up buying a new CRV Hybrid. Another big miss here.

Let’s agree to disagree. It’s a matter of personal preference, the Mazda is aiming at an entirely different market.

Mazda CX 50 has now a Toyota hybrid system with Toyota eCVT. Seat comfort is bad but it's Mazda's horse rider philosophy, potentially functional in terms of safety

It’s a nice vehicle, but like most of its competitors it’s a glorified minivan. At least 80% of the time it will be put to the same use as the Mazda MPV. in that case, why do you need a six cylinder engine? Why do you need to pay more than $50,000? I agree the cars are way too expensive, but some of the problem is that we convince ourselves to overlook the absurdity of the market
