@denalisiomontpellier406425 күн бұрын
I remember that video, Cammisa was the driver. I do like the approach of a barebone 992. No sunroof, basic 4 ways seats, no packages and driving aids. However, awd is a must for me. And the S trim is good because the base carrera and carrera 4 can't get under 20 seconds 0-150 mph. Also PCCB is a must, -45 lbs of unsprung weight on a light car is great. So I wouldn't consider anything less than a 992 4S with PCCB, PASM and lightweight glasses. Throw in that other 3 OEM optionals paldao wood, a manual transmission and carbon fiber bucket seats and be sure your 992 4S won't depreciate at all. I doubt they will make another awd manual 911
@denalisiomontpellier406425 күн бұрын
@@tjabaley Personally I wouldn't get a 911 without awd and ceramic brakes. There was a pristine 2018 20k miles 991.2 4S with ceramic brakes and no sunroof listed for 92k that I really wanted to get, but they sold it in a heartbeat. Even before I could book my flight from Canada to US.

There's another thing that's odd about Porsche pricing. Usually, manufacturers sell more units of their less expensive offerings. Yet, even though the Cayman starts at almost $50,000 less, in the US Porsche sells between 2 and 3 times as many 911s as they do Caymans (Caymen?) and Boxsters combined.

I agree with you, the 911 is getting more and more expensive, in proportion to the fact that it’s also getting better and better. But then, if this can be a soothing thought, how about some of the competition ? Maybe in the US one may hesitate between a 911 and a Corvette (the Corvette being the cheaper one), but in Europe the comparison shifts between a Ferrari and a 911. Suddenly the (quite) expensive 911 doesn’t seem all that expensive. Things don’t sum up in performance exclusively. A 911 isn’t going to be the fastest or most powerful car in all circumstances, but it has a character of its own which 911 fans absolutely love. The driving experience of a 911 is quite unique, just like its practicality. So the question of price, though at times worrying, becomes secondary (for those who can afford one) when you consider what the car delivers, and in this instance, the base 992.2 😎
@denalisiomontpellier406425 күн бұрын

Well, you have to consider the additional standard equipment in comparison to the old model: - the 992.2 has an incredible 9 hp more - LED Lights, - bi-turbos and brakes from the 992.1 GTS, - the intercooler of the turbo - Lane departure warning and emergency brake assist - Heated seats, - Dimming mirrors - Park assist incl. camera And not to forget 5-6% discount at the moment.

You nailed it. People who buy a base care about the price. Otherwise they would get a GTS, TurboS, etc. But Porsche has now priced even the base at unobtainium money. That’s what has caused the base 911 to lose any appeal for me. It’s good. But not $150K good.
@AA-cj7pt5 күн бұрын
it comes down to personal taste and needs. I can afford a turbo S or whatever but I prefer the base 911 because it offers more customization and feels understated. I don’t really like drawing too much attention, yeah sure it’s always a Porsche lol. The GTs don’t appeal to me because of the stitched model name on the headrest, which can’t be removed. I’m also not a fan of the Turbo’s side air ducts, and the fact that I can’t get the dark grey satin rims I love on the Turbo leans me further toward the base model. I also prefer the spoiler you can add to the base model over the Turbo’s, which is part of the standard configuration and can’t be changed . The GT3 and RS feel too track-oriented, which is a bit silly for city driving, and I don’t like that they can’t have a sunroof. I also prefer the front and rear bumper design on the base model over the other versions. The cabriolet doesn’t interest me either-I don’t like the fabric top. Adding a spoiler to the base 911 makes it sporty and aggressive yet elegant and subtle-the perfect balance for me. And adding all the options it gets to nearly 200k, is that expensive enough for you?lol- Just because someone chooses the base model doesn’t mean they can’t afford the most expensive one.. just my opinion..
@a-verybasic225 күн бұрын

As an inexperienced Porsche/sports car driver, you should go for the basic 911 first anyway, preferably with all-wheel drive. If you look at the 992.2 S and GTS 2S, then you know how dangerous these cars are in inexperienced hands: Incredible power in turbo characteristics on numerically one drive axle. You have to know what you're doing here, essentially in wet conditions. This is exactly what is always forgotten! At the end of a Porsche career, you end up with the Carrera 4.

150K as tested. I would get an M5 - much faster, much better technology, much more practical. And that used M5 would be half of that. 911 is not worth it

Yes, but it's not a 911 lol

The price has stayed the same. The dollar has lost value. It’s being „printed” out of nothing in enormous amounts. You drive a Porsche and you don’t understand the basics of economics?

Porsche... the most overpriced car manufacture

911s have long stopped being what made them special. No longer sports cars either. People coming from previous generations of 911 have said the 992 doesn’t have any resemblance to the cars of old, not even in spirit. Just the same badge and name. So 120k for a base 911 is fucking ridiculous. Porsche needs to stop trying to be like Ferrari.

You can't use all that power on the road. A base model is faster than 95% of owners could use. You can buy a 50k ev that will give you more power now. Times are changing.

More power and more speed up to 60 mph, maybe 90 mph. Above that speed an humble base carrera will be faster than your average 500 hp EV suv. I have that suv (bmw iX 50)

.. humanity are "going too far" with all these idiotic and unnecessary things in the cars....... I don't need anything in my car except necessary things for driving and - that's it! I ❤️ base cars

I know it's gonna hurt a Californians ears to hear this but inflation.inflation.inflation. has absolutely wrecked the car market and the price of everything else the last 4 yrs. I'm not naive enough to think that's gonna change anytime soon but I'm certainly gonna call out the root cause. Monetary policy and stupid financial decisions have made cars ridiculously priced.... and I'm a car guy!

A 9 minute whine about the cost. Everyone knows the entire Porsche line up has moved up significantly in price. Yawn 🥱
